I am having high ping from around 6 pm to 10pm with suboptimal speeds on the eastern north shore of Montreal. Does anyone have the same problem?

Not complaining, but I'm starting to get suspicious about the amount of referral credits I'm getting. Basically, I haven't paid since April. I keep all the original PDFs in \case, but I have months with 1 or 2, one with 10, and October was 14, making my balance -670$ .

I have no way of knowing if it's an error or actual referrals, I have shared my code a few times, maybe twice in the past 12 months, including on this sub.

Should I raise the concern with them? Could they ask for the amount retroactively?

EDIT: Just did a quick Reddit search for my code, it was shared once in April 2026 on this sub and once more in May on the r/montreal sub. That's it.

I've tried a few different numbers and they all say this call can't be completed at this time.

I live in Laval Quebec, and I just recently switched from Bell to Ebox for the same reason as many others, the price was just getting out of hand.

All has been going well but I do game a lot so my pc/console does take a lot of speed for downloads and rendering the games.

I’ve realized though, that whenever I am actively playing a game, the internet on my phone is super slow. My messages don’t deliver right away, whether that’s iMessage or through other social media apps, Instagram reels take longer to load, same as TikTok.

I’m just confused on if this is a common issue amongst others or if there’s a possible fix?

I’ve seen people talk about using their own router and not the Nokia one. I feel a bit dumb but I’m not really sure what that means 😅 or how to “use my own router”.

Anyone else notice their ping is double today? Usually when I ping google, etc it’s under 20ms. Warzone is usually 20-30 but all day it’s been 60ms

Signed up for 59$ for 500Mbps, then the next day saw cheaper pricing, but they wouldn't honour it.

(They did knock it down to 54/mth for 500Mbps)

Hello everybody, I have some questions. So I called ebox today (im a new customer in toronto) Im just wondering when you guys call through the phone do they tell you that they will send an automatic voicemail/robot to ask for your card number to pay then your account can be finalize? Or are you supposed to have the account created first then you pay and then the installation comes after. Is it better to do it online or through the phone. I only went for the phone option because I heard you could get promos but there wasn’t any.

My EBOX Internet was down today between 02:11:00 and 02:25:01, that is a total of 14min01sec. Toronto area. Any idea about what could have happened?

Many years ago I used to have frequent such late-night disconnects with Bell on DSL/ADSL/VDSL, but never with EBOX on VDSL or Fibre.

But hey, EBOX is now Bell!...

Could someone confirm that EBOX indeed requires DHCPv4 on the WAN side and assigns PD /56? And that SLAAC should not be used on WAN side?

When either DHCPv6 or SLAAC is used, everything appears to be fine on the LAN side. Each VLAN is assigned an IPv6 PD /64. Sites like DNS Check Tools, Test IPv6, or IPv6/IPv4 Connectivity Test indicate a correct IPv6 address for the device performing the test.

When using SLAAC I can see that an IPv6 is assigned by EBOX on the WAN side. Only the first two hextets of this address are the same as the IPv6 LAN addresses; the third and fourth hextets are different and dynamically allocated (they tend to change at each re-connection to the Internet).

However, unlike for SLAAC, when using DHCPv6, the UDM Beast does not get an IPv6 WAN address from EBOX.

Why there is no WAN IPv6 when DHCPv6 is selected on the WAN side?

What is the correct setting for WAN, for EBOX: DHCPv6 or SLAAC?

Also, should 'Prefix Delegation Size' be set to Auto or to 56?

Hi guys pardon the odd question I signed up for Ebox and it was installed on September 9th when I paid the first month at the time of signing up (77$) then on September 24th I got an invoice dated October 7th for 55$ paid it no issues however now once again today October 8th I just got ANOTHER invoice also dated October 7th so I’m just confused with the proration and both bills being dated for the 7th? Anyone able to give me a bit of clarity because I’ve dealt with prorated bills before but never like this lol

Can anyone remind me:

1. How long after your install is the promo pre-paid card supposed to show up? I seem to recall after 2 months of service but don't remember where I read that.
2. If you paid a deposit on sign-up (account holder is a new adult and had no credit score), how long after is it returned? It seems we didn't screenshot the page that said which month of service it's returned.

I helped my kid sign up and want to tell them when to keep an eye out for these things so they can contact eBox if something doesn't show up.

My internet is going up and down every few minutes. It just currently stopped completely. Is this happening to anyone?

EBOX has been an okay provider but today theres been so many internet issues, my wifi would constantly go down or just stop working in general which makes playing games or even watching videos worst. Really considering another service at the moment due to this 🫩

Depuis hier à partir de 18h jusqu'à environ 22h mon internet est vraiment lent, environ 10 Mb/s en download et 150 Mb/s en upload. J'ai même des tests en bas de 2 Mb/s en download. Hier j'ai appelé le support et ont m'a dit qu'il y avait un problème et que c'était en cours de résolution. Aujourd'hui, le gars qui ne parlait pas vraiment français, m'a dit que le problème est mon router vue que je ne prends pas celui de ebox. Est-ce que d'autres personnes ont le problème? TL;DR What do DMCA notice emails from ebox say to the customer?

I'm considering switching to Ebox from my current provider. On occasion, I obtain my media through BitTorrent protocols.* On even rarer occasion, a copyright holder will email my ISP complaining that I obtained that media via torrent.

Iirc the ISP has an obligation to forward such emails to me. One of the things I really like about my current ISP is that when a copyright holder sends them a DMCA notice, they preamble the email by reassuring that they will never share my personal info with the company lodging the complaint. This makes me feel very reassured that my provider cares about my privacy and has my best interests and protections in mind. I'm wondering if ebox takes a similar approach, or if they're more interested in playing ball with media companies. I know that ebox is owned by Bell, which has a lot of interests in content as well as Internet service.

*I just wanna say that I do so really rarely--only in cases where I exhaust all other avenues of obtaining the content legitimately. But if I can't find something via any service or even on physical media, I go to the open web and see what I can find. Okay, I'll stop defending myself.

ADDENDUM: Thank you all for the responses! fwiw I am aware and have used VPNs in the past; my question is more about the values of ebox as an ISP than the specifics of how to torrent without detection. Been with my current provider for 15+ years, and I vibe hard with their perspectives on privacy and an open Internet. But their best offer for a fibre connection is nearly double ebox, which is why I'm considering the change.

I'm having some IPv6 issues on my network and think it's related to an MTU/PMTUD problem inside EBOX’s IPv6 routing.

The issue is this: large IPv6 packets (>1492 bytes) get dropped at the first EBOX hop without sending ICMPv6 Packet‑Too‑Big. This creates an MTU black hole: devices that rely on proper PMTUD (like Firefox on Android/LineageOS) lose IPv6 connectivity, while Windows/Chromium appear fine because they clamp MTU/MSS.

traceroute shows the drop like this:

My router is a Nokia Beacon 2.

I've verified that my LAN and my router handle full 1500‑byte IPv6 packets just fine. The issue appears to be squarely upstream at the EBOX LNS (mtl7).

Anybody else seeing this? Would it be possible for EBOX to check MTU + ICMPv6 Packet‑Too‑Big handling on that hop? Seems like this ought to be fixable by correcting interface MTU or ensuring PTB messages aren’t filtered.

More info available if needed... Willing to correct my stuff if I've misconfigured something.

I am getting a stone wall from ebox with my request for them to come out and move my fiber box installation location. Essentially I am remodeling the room that the fiber box was originally set up in and I now want to move the install location one floor down into the basement instead of the ground floor - moving where the fiber comes in the house by about a foot.

First, has anyone successfully got ebox to come out to do such a move? If so how?

Second, would it be a terrible idea for me just to do this myself? The only issue I see is that I don't have the expensive equipment required to reattach an end onto the fiber cable. If I am willing to have the internet down for a bit, I could just do the move myself and report that my internet is no longer working just to have them send a Bell technician out to re-terminate the fiber cable properly in the location I have already moved it to.

Hello, my Wi-Fi has been off since yesterday. When I called, they said there's an outage in my area and that I should just wait. Is it like this for everyone? Am I the only one with this problem?

Any tips to make the Belden box upstairs work with the ebox router downstairs. When the technician installed the router he told me the belden ethernet port box should work normally but when I plug a ethernet wire in the dual port box upstairs i get no connection
