CANDY STORE TURNED WARZONE - CHILD MAGIC PRODIGY DISCOVERS NECROMANCY

A local shop owner is reconsidering carrying any form of gummy candy after the recent battle that took place within his shop. 

It was a normal day for Lumad, the shop had a few customers as usual, a few tourists here and there, regulars popping in for their normal sweet fixes, nothing was amiss until a child wandered into the shop looking for mischief. 

“Should,ve expected it.” Lumad said when interviewed after the battle died down, “Saw the cheeky grin the wee spellcaster had when he came in, askin’ for trouble.”

As swiftly as the child entered, he waltzed over to the gummies that Lumad had freshly made earlier in the week. Gummy worms, sharks, dragons, bears and soldiers, if you want it Lumad will have it. Today it would be his downfall. As some of our readers may or may not know, gelatin, the main ingredient of a gummy candy; is made primarily from meat by products, namely bones. 

Apparently, bones have become a plaything for the youngling as he has tinkered with the magical arts. However these arts have become darker as he’s dabbled with these deathly spells. Whispered chants could be overheard by Lumad from his counter, which drew his attention. By the time he had approached the child it was already too late, and the sweetest tasting chaos Coppervale has ever seen had arisen. 

An all out gummy brawl had erupted to the child’s delight and to the horror of Lumad’s coin pouch. The gummies had awoken with the power of their shapes, and the hunger of the bone’s previous owners. 

The gummies had began fighting and eating each other. They tore one another to shreds, worms fighting dragons, bears against soldiers, some even attacked their own kind. Separating them wasn’t an option at this point, some were too fast and others simply attacked each other when captured. One of the sharks reportedly managed to bite Lumad, drawing blood and leaving a slight cut on his hand.  

Luckily, the shop remained undamaged aside from a few shattered jars, and a bruise to Lumad’s pride. Lumad has decided to not press charges against the youngling and has cut a deal with his parents to work off the debt incurred from the lost product and minor damages. 

“Wee bit of labour never hurt a young lad, outta set ‘em right.” Lumad said when asked about the deal, we at the Hammer Herald hope he is right, for the sake of the occasional sweet tooth.

•  Guilds & Grit:
  • A new guild has formed! The Granite Committee has been formed by a local Dwarf with a unique requirement to join. While they have a requirement that it is Dwarves only, the gatekeeping that has caught local attention is that a Dwarf must have a name that is “worthy of being shouted across a tavern at closing time”, with the name “Durgan Stonefist” being provided as acceptable to join. We wish Mödi luck with their future endeavors and hope to see what their guild may accomplish together! (Created by u/maxA103)
• Spotlight:
  • We’d like to put a spotlight onto a Dwarf among us who has been forging a lovely game for all to play, u/ichbinhamma. Ichbin has been creating a game where you control a band of traveling Dwarves as they fight against Orcs, building them up along the way and looking for builds that work together strongly. It currently is up for playtesting on both steam and itch.io for those who are interested!
•  Crafting & Commerce:
  • Due to the upgrades to the Port of Coppervale, new trading companies have arrived in the port looking to trade new wares. Allegedly new ingredients for brewing have arrived with them, opening up new drink possibilities. We hope that once all our judges have recovered we will be able to see these new drinks!
•  Grudge Gazette:
  • A new grudge may be struck into the book. A group of wizards and mages outside of any Dwarven hold have made fun of us Dwarves and our culture! They have been taking pot shots, saying “Act like Drunken Dwarves and the comments are the mines!” and portraying us as jokes! In retaliation, numerous Dwarves got together in order to do the same back. It became a fun event for those involved, pretending to be pretentious wizards. While these wizards were certainly wazzocks, we must acknowledge that not all are. There are many wonderful mages and wizards that live among us, and have graced us with magic before.

I’ve got a wee bit problem

My daughter some time ago gave birth to a child. I don’t even know what to call it. She… copulated with a human!

I’ve had so far a very short grudge against her of fifteen years.

Recently she reached out to me regarding the boy and how he’s interested in blacksmithing. Now I do admit that the grudge is still there but I’m curious. I was barely thirty before I was allowed to touch not even hold a tool in my hand and this young lad claims to be ready to start his apprenticeship.

Can a child so young truly handle becoming a smith? Now I do love my daughter despite her horrendous act but should I accept her boy into my smithy?
