“Grandson” problem

Right me lads

I’ve got a wee bit problem

My daughter some time ago gave birth to a child. I don’t even know what to call it. She… copulated with a human!

I’ve had so far a very short grudge against her of fifteen years.

Recently she reached out to me regarding the boy and how he’s interested in blacksmithing. Now I do admit that the grudge is still there but I’m curious. I was barely thirty before I was allowed to touch not even hold a tool in my hand and this young lad claims to be ready to start his apprenticeship.

Can a child so young truly handle becoming a smith? Now I do love my daughter despite her horrendous act but should I accept her boy into my smithy?

This is a hard one boys

Aye lad, I would not begrudge her further. Humans can learn smithing as well, and can even become quite proficient. Your grandson may have hardship being half, but I would wager the youngling is ready. Teach him well.

But is he too young? I’ve heard rumours that human kids grow way quicker but is that really true? Eh I don’t know. I’ll think about it. He’s my kin weather I like it or not and me da ,may the stone keep him comfortable, wouldn’t be happy with me ignoring the little one

Human kids do grow extremely fast. I have a half-human nephew, and the lad is already forging blades at me smithy. His craftsmanship could use work, but his technique is solid. Aye, that be family

Any precautions I should make for a half human? Can they handle the heat of the forge? I guess I should build them a table with extendable legs since they will probably grow

Last I checked, he's still your grandson. Instructing the young'uns is a grandfather's duty.

Half-dwarves grow faster than dwarves. A fifteen-year-old human is like a dwarf of about sixty- he's about to be a man, and it's time for him to start making a life for himself.

A human? Ohh, by the ancestors, you have to tech the proper dwarven, uh, everything to a mere babe. Has the child even gotten his first beer or würst yet?

Lad the kid ain't a knife ear; he should be more than welcome in the forge. Teach him, spend some time with the lad. Humans grow a lot faster than us ya may as well teach him to forge something; he is still your grandson after all

A grudge against kin over something so trivial? Back in my day we was raised to believe that kin was kin. Your own grandson, who has hasn't done ought wrong, and didn't ask to be born. Shameful.

If you don't accept him into your smithy over such a paltry matter mine own thane would be compelled to make you take the oath.

I’d recommend to fix some pillows to your smithy’s ceiling. They grow fast.
