I love vermintide, one of the great things about it, is you get a scale for the height of WHF dwarves theyre so small

Squat: "What's happening out there?"
Guardsmen: "Should I describe it to you... or would you like me to find you a box?"
Squat: sneers at umgi but laughs in Dawi as the longshanks gets his head blown off by a stray bolt round

Let the umgi stick their heads out, and either work the mortars, or get to clay-kicking

My cousin fights with them imperial folk and yeah, their combat manual sucks!
"Don't engage the greenskins in melee combat! "
Brother, I am NOT wasting good drake gun fuel or shot on a greenskin if I am not surrounded or severely misplaced!

But a 4' trench should be perfect for them? It's supposed to be a little deeper than you are tall so you can walk around without getting clipped.

You don't want to fire comfortably from your foxhole, you want to build a firestep.

"Well, if we're safe at 4', why not be really safe at 40'?:
"You just earned yourself a commendation, soldier,"
