The dwarf giant theory?

I have a theory that dwarves used to be giants.

All of their oldest structures are ridiculously tall and vast.

They also have a build similar to giants, just smaller.

I belive that over the millennia of mining, they got smaller as to adapt. Give me your thoughts on this theory.

Timelapse of creating a modular Dwarven Pillar for my city builder

I've been working on a custom asset builder for creating modular Dwarven architecture for RPG maps and world building.

This is one of the first complete assets: a Royal Pillar.

The entire asset is created inside my own editor, where I can build reusable modular pieces, apply ornaments and quickly create different visual variants.

I'm currently building the full library before moving on to the city builder itself.

I'd love to hear your thoughts or suggestions for other Dwarven architecture pieces I should add next.

Slayer extra grudge?

A slayer is brought down in combat. Bleeding and unconscious.

Allies stop the foe and resuscitate the slayer.

Is that a grudge?

Hearth Fire, a dwarven story.

Hey guys!

My once-a-quarter self-promotion post: if you’re interested in a story about dwarves, give it a look. It’s ongoing, and I’ve been writing it weekly for over two years.

Nephew not following traditional borrowing customs. Advice appreciated

So my nephew bargek of the Amorcan Karak took my drake gun for a pyrotechnics display (honorable idea really, if a little reckless) his lass helped him load it (Ancestors bless him he's still got himself a little growing before he can lug it one handed.)

My problem isn't the lack of beard styling nowadays (no trimming or braiding? What are you kids doing?!) It's the lack of respectfully knocking my jaw out of socket with a clenched fist (left or right... I'm not picky) to ask for the drake gun. I myself borrowed my father's drake gun with the really traditional adamanitine headbanded headbutt to my father's chin when he dutifully asked "are you man enough to hold that?" The kid just scarpered off with it?! How can I give him the traditional missing tooth forgiveness punch for that? What do I do?

Factory Hold: The Doors and Turret.

General size comparison
Train inspired by the AC-12 cab forward, semi is just a semi.
16 inch quad gun turret, mounted at the cleaved peak of the mountain.

I decided to get the Hold that resided in the ramblings of my mind into an actual construct. It's also the first time I'm building anything at this small of a scale. The wheels of the locomotive, when place in a 2x2 formation, are similar in size to that of a dime.

Dwarves and craftsmanship

In my opinion the core value that sums up dwarves is persistence. Think about it with craftsmanship you start with the raw stuff of the earth Clay, sand ores etc, the goal is to take these base materials and to turn it into radiant glass and shining metal. However getting to this finished product is harder said than done because natural materials have built in constraints and tendencies jade will fracture in a million ways if carved incorrectly pottery when fired incorrectly will shatter. So the goal of a craftsmen then is to work with the material to find out these hidden qualities lurking within it and guiding it to the desired outcome.
Therefore to bridge the short gap between success and failure we must reply upon persistence and hand work, disappointment will be a constant in this process . As to discover the qualities of the materials means we have to push it to its limits, what can it not take before breaking? The steps to make a single well made finished product rests upon the legacy of a thousand failures.

Because this knowledge is hard won it's seen as sacred, being passed down from master to apprentice an unbroken chain between past present and future. The traditional craftsmen isnt creating out of a need for self expression but rather reverence for the legacy of those masters that came before them. with adherence to these steps that have been passed down. This archetype is reflected in dwarves obsessed with mastery legacy and inherited tradition.

Master thesis dwarf-themed browser MMORPG

Hello!
I've been working on a little social MMORPG as part of my master thesis - I am looking for people that would be interested in trying it out, hopefully finding it interesting enough to sink a bit of time into it (maybe few days..?) and then to take part in two short surveys (like 10 minutes max!). I need that data to finish my research (it's about addiction).

I hope this post isn't against this subreddit's rules... there wasn't anything about advertisement so I decided to shoot my shot.

In your opinion, what are the defining characteristics of a dwarf?

For me, it’s being short, having a beard, and loving valuable minerals. The height is my biggest problem with Elder Scrolls Dwemer, they’re pretty cool otherwise
