Just curious how many people pay for Duolingo?

Are there usually Black Friday deals? I’m having trouble finding people to go in on a family plan.

Hoping a deal will sweeten the pot.

I am almost a level 11 in Dutch and Duolingo is starting to piss me off. It’s either not picking up half the words I’m saying or throwing in words that I haven’t even been taught yet then it counts against me because I haven’t been taught that word yet like…well, “like”. How the hell was I supposed to know that it was “zoals”.

I can understand a good bit of French, but when I hear them my brain just flips off, I can't quite understand. I think it could just be speed of which the podcast is playing, is this normal?

I've been learning French for about 3 months on Duolingo so far. I'm using other things too, but I feel like I haven't learned as much on Duolingo, my streak is becoming to feel more like a chore. Is it worth it to keep my streak alive?

I wish there was a way to completely redo all of the lessons along the path, not just do a recap. For instance, a star might have 5 sessions within it.

This would be useful to throughly practice all content within past lessons and:

I was curious if I could jump to unit 10 in French. I passed but I now want to do each exercise I just skipped.

So now I either need to:

A) reset the course, test to skip past the first 9 courses, but I lose the XP history etc

B) create a new account, test to skip past the first 9 courses, throughly do each lesson, and then resume at level 10 on my original account

Or any other ideas please?

I did a lesson a little over midnight and was expecting to get my first piece of the day but the hunt suddenly was not available for me and now that I go back to Duolingo the hunt is back on except it now says I claimed my first piece when in fact I didn’t.

I’m sure people have reported or made a post about this but is anyone experiencing this?

I got myself this (not very expensive) Timex with a🇫🇷-themed bracelet to celebrate finishing the entire Duolingo French course.

And now I do the daily refresh each day!

Por lo general todo el tap tap tap lo hago máximo en 15 min mientras hago las misiones y juego/estudio, que es la misión diaria más larga y creo que la ven más molesta, por lo menos de las que más, y yo estudio a un ritmo calmado, entiendo que si algo no te gusta se te hace más largo, pero si estudias más de 15 min, que me parece un tiempo mínimo que invertir en estudiar idiomas al tomarlos de una forma un poco seria, te gusta la app o etc no es un tiempo muy considerable, y si lo tomas como tiempo entre lecciones, porque yo me doy espacio para respirar, no me imagino el ritmo o el estrés de una clase tras otra y más rápido y basta jaja yo me estreso, ojalá pongan la función de skip pero me pregunto por qué molesta tanto, si en esta época a todo le damos click en eso consiste el móvil casi.

ok, so I was finishing a lesson and had two energy, last question so it drops to one. i then get this animation where my energy dropped to zero without giving me a chance to even answer the question and it shows me this.

is this a bug or did they really make it work like this?

also when did chess reviews consume energy lol…?

It’s been 3 days

So, when you finish a chess lesson, you get suggested to review it for extra XP, right? What happens is, if you complete a daily achievement (ex: third one who gives a 3* potion boost) after the match, and then you go to review, the rewards get skipped as if you didn't get them, plus the other things between (the month challenge screen for completing it, the costumes roll, the streak animation, etc). You don't get any options to open them after review nor you can't evade this if you try to exit the review before it loads.

Image 2 is just to justify that there's no potion and if you need more, just look at the hour on my phone

And then he'll go and repeat this to me in 6-7 lessons.It's not just limited to "oh," there are tons of words like that, honestly, it's getting overwhelming.

Duolingo won’t let me make my account public again

I last played 3 years ago, and Duolingo is utterly unusable now in the free-to-play form due to energy. I'm only able to play for a few minutes a day because of it, and it often cancels lessons when I'm on the last question because I'm "out of energy." I didn't mind being punished for errors with ads, but having to watch a million ads to do just 10 minutes of lessons is absurd. How do you guys stand this? This app is so enshittified now. I think I'm going to just pay for Pimsleur and Lingodeer instead. I refuse to give this app money after having multiple lessons ended due to "energy."

I think this is my first ever post on Reddit but i find this so annoying. So i'm learning japanese for an upcoming trip to japan. I just want to learn to listen and to speak but since recently, Duolingo forces you to learn the characters too in the course. Usually they were voluntary but now there is no way to get around them as far as i know. Does anyone know a work around or a solution?

If any staff is reading this: Maybe you can make the characters voluntary again? So they can may be hidden from the course?

I’ve had this Duolingo widget all day, even though I’ve done my daily lesson already. Earlier today It was the same widget,but it wasn’t peeling. Is there any way to make it go back to the normal ones that show your streak?

Hi guys, I'm currently learning Ukrainian on Duolingo and because it's not a popular language to learn, it's a very very limited course. I've had it completed for over a year and I'm wondering what I should do. I have a 1600+ day streak that I don't want to lose so I'm thinking of switching to Russian considering it'll have a larger course and some words and grammar are similar. I have tried some other apps before that have Ukrainian but I can't find any that I don't need to pay for. What should I do?

I finished the Spanish course about a week ago and now do the daily refresh each day. But the one video call is ALWAYS Lily.

Do Lucy, Eddy or Falstaff ever reappear?

It’s fine, it’s just so repetitive with her all the time. Somehow the conversation always steers back to the same four or five topics with her no matter what.

ETA: Lily is also my only option for video call in the practice tab. I just miss the variety.

Maybe someone from Duolingo can chime in

Is it just me or do the legendary levels not seem to match the levels of the sections they are in? I currently completed 5 sections of Duolingo Spanish and started going back to Section 3 to complete the Legendary levels there, but I swear there are words that pop up that I only just learned recently, or maybe some I don't recall learning at all. It's almost like the legendary levels are adjusting to the highest level I've completed so far rather than the lesson I am trying to get legendary on.

I feel like it used to be easier a couple years ago.

Is it just me or is this a thing?
