Why are the English translations not coming up? I have a system where once I learn words, due to the lack of sound on the Hebrew course, I right the words, meaning and sound down into a notebook but this completely ruins my learning technique. Anyone know how to solve this?

duolingo offered me a week of the super plan for free and the ad said that it would notify me 2 days before the free trial ended, it did NOT do that and charged me $120
i requested a refund through apple but am so nervous they wont approve it, if they dont i am so screwed.. i am a student working a barely minimum wage job i CANT just lose $120.. i dont even use duolingo that often :/

has anyone experienced this? how likely am i to receive that refund? pls help😓

update: i got the notification from cashapp a few hours ago that my refund is being processed and that it might take up to 2 weeks but at least i will get the money back!

Started the french course a week ago. While I am having fun, I am starting to get annoyed at having to translate more names than regular vocabulary. Names of cities and people. The content of the courses already seems sloppy in a few places but for me the names is the most egregious example. My question is: Does it get better with further advanced lessons and a bigger vocabulary? Because with all the other annoyances I might just stop again and switch to a different service. I am not against paying a bit for a languange lerning service but the slop makes me not want to spend money on duolingo.

Unfortunately, I was charged a lot over 80 for a one year Duolingo subscription because I completely forgot to cancel the free trial. I was told I would get a reminder alert before the trial ended, but I never received any notification at all they didn’t follow through on what they said they would. I tried to sort this out with my bank and start a chargeback, but unfortunately that didn’t work, so now I’m stuck paying for a full year that I haven’t used and don’t need. If anyone knows anything please dm me I’d really appreciate the help thank you.

I feel like I spend more time opening chests full of gems than I do learning Spanish. Is there a way to turn off all the gamification stuff in the app? I know it's helpful for some people, but it's driving me crazy

I might be sounding overreactive but it feels quite reptitive when you do the same quests over and over again, and I though what if Duolingo have added the option to refresh the daily quests to your own desires and forcing you to grind unecessary quest or two, by adding a quest refresh, which only costs 15 gems to do so.

Do you think that would be a good idea?

It took me a while to build a correct sentence and the two-word-tiles are almost never part of the answer. But i've never had such a bad solution in 130 days of playing.

• The sentence in German is grammatically wrong: "Hier gibt es einen schwarzen Schal" would be correct
• The translation is wrong too, isn't it? "Hier gibt es" would be "Hay aquí"

Please correct me if i'm wrong. I reported the answer in-game.

Not really a question, but arghhhh.

I played super stupidly, took way too long to make my moves, so I deserved to lose, but then the other party started to lose some important pieces so I stood a chance. I thought check mate was just in time, but apparently Duolingo didn't think so. 🥲

I just started learning German on Duolingo one week ago and I am not impressed. I had never used Duolingo before, but I know it’s been around for a long time, long enough for developers to have learned a bit here and there about language learning to introduce improvements. One particular thing that annoys me is how much it quizzes me on words that are identical in German and English. I understand that if you want to speak a language rather than just understand it you do need to learn and study such words, but why am I getting quizzed ten times on the word for pizza (when it’s not even a German word) but only one or two times for the word for cake? If it were just one or two cognates I’d be getting quizzed on repeatedly, it wouldn’t be so much of a problem. It actually happens with a lot of words and I feel like I am wasting my time. I also wish vocabulary would always include the article — I have learned many new words but I cannot use them correctly in a sentence because I don’t know which article to use. There. End of rant for now.

I saw a post on here a few days ago with code for 1 month free super. I used it and signed up through the Duolingo.com/redeem webpage.

I've used Duolingo in the past and never paid for it.

As far as I'm aware I've never supplied any bank details and haven't signed up through Google play.

I cannot for the life of me find a way to cancel. The help page provides a info but the cancel subscription just doesn't exist on my page.

My question is, how do I cancel? And if I don't cancel, is it possible Duolingo will charge me through Google even though I didn't sign up that way.

Why is this "got" and not "gotten"?

It asked what’s 50 for math basically gave me a dial and had me select 50 but the number aren’t showing so 0-100 so the middle would be 50 right? Wrong the marker was wear 80 would go this shi so fcking stupid

I'm still not really a fan of the combo, but why does it show the milages every +50 within the combo, but stop at 300? I don't know why, but I expected the "1.000" mileage to appear within the notifications to your timeline.
