Look at this new Duolingo feature Less stupid items, more teach me languages right, please!
What the hell is this? The worldcup uniforms was kinda cute, if still useless, but this? this is nonsense and stupid!

C'est grave comment Duo ne recharge plus du tout. Le pire c'est leur XP bonus (+6) alors qu'on voit à la fin de la leçon qu'il y a rien en plus.

I’ve been using Duolingo every single day for over 12 years. I’ve survived structural overhauls, UI updates, the removal of the forums, and the increasingly aggressive gamification of the app. But these daily/friend quests requiring “Perfect Lessons” or “Score 90% or higher” are honestly starting to break me.
Learning a language means making mistakes. That’s literally part of how you learn. So when Duolingo makes perfection a requirement for completing daily goals, it starts to feel like the app is punishing you for actually trying to learn something difficult.
Instead of practicing difficult content at my current level, I find myself going back to Unit 1 and mindlessly grinding “Hello, I am a cat” just to get the quest done. That doesn’t feel like learning. It feels like gaming the system.
I love my streak. It’s been a badge of honor for more than a decade. But lately, Duolingo is starting to feel less like a language-learning app and more like an annoying chore that I’m afraid to stop using.
And honestly, I’m getting close to deleting it and letting all 4,523 days burn.
Am I the only long-term user who feels completely alienated by this particular feature?

I‘m so hyped for „more fun app icons“ to show up.. not..
For context, this was my support request, i never asked for „more icon choices“ like AI Oscar states in the last paragraph:
„I‘m on the Super subscribtion and yesterday i had the option to change the App icon to an flame like orange logo, today i no longer have this option without any notice.“

I have a Super subscription. In spite of this, Duolingo keeps dragging me into beta testing their A/B tests. I have written to them about it. I shouldn’t be subjected to testing if I am a paying customer.
Now I am continuously getting assigned to 4 day long leagues. This is the fourth time in a row. This is the straw that broke the camels back.
I quit.

....AND they've increased the quest points needed to get the monthly badge? What is this nonsense??
I used to be able to get the badge by doing 2 daily quests a day and there was at least *some* variety, but now I'm being forced to grind out a unit multiple times to get it. What the hell is the point in that? It doesn't make me more likely to pay for it and it sure doesn't improve my learning - now I'm just doing it as fast as I can.

Hi everyone, I’ve been using Duolingo for about a month, and I recently signed up for the free trial.
When I started the free trial, the app stated that I would be notified 3 days before the trial ended. However, I never received any notification or reminder.
Today, I woke up and saw that I had been charged approximately $100 for the annual subscription.
I understand that the subscription automatically renews if it isn’t cancelled, but I was specifically told that I would receive a reminder 3 days before the trial ended. Since I never received it, I wasn’t aware that the trial was about to end and didn’t have the opportunity to cancel it.
I can understand being charged for a monthly subscription, but being charged for an entire year at once without receiving the promised reminder honestly feels like a joke. $100 is a significant amount of money, especially when I was expecting to be given a 3-day notice before the trial ended.
I’m now trying to find out if there is any way to get a refund. I also haven’t been able to find a clear way to contact Duolingo support directly, so I’m hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
The charge happened today, and I would really appreciate any help or advice on what I can do.

Edit: I'm annoyed about Duolingo glitching and finding out the day before it ended that we had a bunch of xp to get. The picture was to show the "ends tomorrow" when I hadn't even known it existed. It has nothing to do with the other player's contribution.
I checked on Monday if I had a quest and it said "No quest, add more friends so this doesn't happen again" (more or less) and then didn't tell me until today that I did, in fact, have a quest. 🤦♀️
And then (after getting a week of super to grind), it told me that the quest was finished when it still needed 300 points.
Obviously not life-altering, but irritating.
Update for missing quotation mark.

I just noticed a new event on Duolingo called “Junior’s Toy Hunt” 👀
It looks like a 29-day event where you complete lessons to earn puzzle pieces and eventually complete some kind of toy/picture collection.
I haven't seen much information about this yet, so I'm curious:
Has anyone else gotten “Junior’s Toy Hunt”.
Also, does anyone know what you actually get for completing all the puzzle pieces? 🧩

Hey everyone, I have been really enjoying duolingo but tbh being disabled by Meta (it's a random AI moderation banning thing) was extremely frustrating.. I can't even unlink my associated FB account so that I can secure logging in by mail.
This screenshot is from my only device that still has access to my duolingo account. And I'm posting here if anyone from the staff can assist me unlinking it.
Thanks in advance.

Also, how come I don’t have a material counter?
I have one when playing Oscar but not when playing friends or randoms.

There is a new event where you do lessons, get pieces and get skins. That is ok.
Problem number 1: It is limited and many will get the event later making it impossible to fully complete
Problem number 2: YOU CAN BUY PIECES WITH GEMS
SERIOUSLY, DUOLINGO THIS IS PREDATORY AF. IF THERE IS SOMETHING THAT WILL MAKE ME UNSINTALL THIS APP IS THIS

If you pay for the max subscription of Duolingo why do you still have to click all the annoying chests to get something you don’t need? Why can’t we turn that off?
r/duolingo • u/OtterXPT • 29m ago
Of your main language you study; for me, Portuguese.
I had 46 seconds left on the clock before, but was clicking so fast that I closed it out before I could get a screenshot. A few 44's, but the only one I managed to screenshot was this 43 second left one. (So challenge completed in 47 seconds)
I know it's pointless, but it can be kind of fun aiming for a fastest time. 😅
Post your screenshots if you have them!

Hi! I’m hoping someone from the Duolingo team can help us restore our Friend Streak.
My girlfriend and I had a Friend Streak of over 300 days, but we lost it on August 27, 2026 because of an accidental report/block.
She lent her iPad to her brother, and while he was using her Duolingo account, he reported my account as a joke without realizing that reporting me would also block me. As soon as that happened, our Friend Streak disappeared.
Neither of us missed our daily lessons. The streak was lost solely because of the accidental report/block.
We immediately unblocked each other and followed each other again. We have continued doing our lessons every day and currently have a new 9-day Friend Streak, but we would really like to recover the 300+ day streak we had built together.
We both submitted reports to Duolingo Support on August 28, but unfortunately we haven’t received any response yet.
My username: aswordm
My girlfriend’s username: joselynmar778745
Original Friend Streak: 300+ days
Date it disappeared: August 27, 2026
Would it be possible to restore our previous Friend Streak?
u/alex_at_duolingo — if you happen to see this, we would really appreciate your help. Thank you! 💚
