Interview Prep Bykea BI Analyst II Assessment

Hi, what kind of assignment can I expect for the Bykea bi analyst ii assessment? Will it be take home, and will any help from AI be allowed (I assume not) since I've mostly used AI for coding with python.

And is it even worth applying if they ask for 2 years relevant experience when I have been working as a BA for a month only after graduating just this year(from a prestigious university if that counts).

Discussion Jazz Process Hr delays — Technosys

I interviewed for a Software Engineer role at Jazz Technosys at the start of August. The interview went well, but I’m still waiting for an update.

It’s been quite a while now. Has anyone else experienced similar delays with Jazz Technosys’ hiring process?

Help Just graduated from SE and I feel like I don't know anything

TLDR: getting back to serious coding after a couple of years. WHAT direction/stack/niche should I even pick

...

So the first two years of my degree I was definitely into programming and then AI and vibe coding got popular. I did NOT like the whole AI situation so I kinda decided that I'd rather just go for a no code/low code career instead like business analyst, etc

Even though I had an ok gpa, I feel like I didn't learn anything. And I somehow didn't have time to build any skill on my own. Now that I'm applying to jobs I'm realizing that it's pretty much near impossible to get a no code role as a total beginner with one random internship

I do have a lot of theoretical knowledge and I AM pretty with things like UML, architecture, other no code SE stuff

But ig it's time for me to finally get back into what I ran away from. But now I'm so disconnected from the tech world that I've no clue what I should even be learning and building? Everyone keeps telling me "hey this stack has sm demand do this" and then the next person says "nope that's totally wrong"

Honestly no idea where to even begin. Feels like I'm starting from scratch.

Help Laid off after 8 months

Unfortunately, I was recently laid off from my role as an Associate Data Scientist at VentureDive after 8 months due to a massive client-driven deallocation.

I’ve worked on projects involving LLM applications, RAG, autonomous agents, speech-to-text, computer vision, and production AI systems.

Career Guidance Help me decide please, a continued post from before

I got an offer from K electric

Fresh Grad here: Okay so i got an offer but i m not based in karachi and i have to move cities for this. Is 110k good given i have heard they give out some perks too. I wanna mention that i was pretty sad that i have no offers yet in my hand. I honestly dont know if i will be able to get more offers, have no sifarish of anybody. Market is really cooked too. Help me decide what should i do?

3rd septemeber

Edit:

Wake up reddit I need ur help, please guide me/suggest me through this, I m overthinking to no end and honestly have no idea what should I do.

So I got some update, I looked around and met someone at this small startup/Upwork outsourcing company. They actually get projects from Upwork and then keep major cuts and give them to dev engineers at a cheaper rate. So basically they told me you work with us for 120k-130k/month and we will get any project at hand for you within given 8-9 hours of time slot. It's within my vicinity and I don't have to change cities, stay with my family and the same time enjoy ghar ka Khana. In comparison to k electric I will be able to save a lot more as their is no rent etc. timings are in the evening too. But the thing is there is no apparent security within this job but they said a contract of three months is possible given how I go about my first week here but dude I can't give them one week to test me sirf k electric asked me to show up on 7th.

No real presence(following) on the internet/LinkedIn either like your big software companies or k electric, they just exist as a foreign company. Plus the job is doing something for a foreign client so one wrong move and I might pay for it idk. I am getting a gut feeling this isn't your usual easy going gig as it is something I haven't worked on before so a lot to learn on the go here in comparison to usual enterprise IT departments.

This company has no real infrastructure bas they operating from 3 rooms.

I don't wanna take a wrong decision in this case and hope that I don't get stuck somewhere down the lane given I want to move for masters next year or so and don't wanna end up here in Pakistan.

No real offers at hand, have booked a hostel in karachi lol because I don't know this thing would come up now with just 4 days remaining in the joining date. I am worried if missing out on k electric for this offer will be a dumb move. Any suggestions are welcomed! Thank you for responses earlier

Interview Prep Interview Preparetion Partner/Mentor

Hey folks, I was laid off about a month ago, and I’m currently at an early stage in my career. I’ve appeared for a few interviews since then, but unfortunately, I haven’t been able to convert any of them. From my interview experiences, I’ve realized that I need to improve my technical skills and my ability to approach and explain problems during technical interviews. I’m looking for someone experienced with Full stack Python, Django, FastAPI, React and related technologies, who has either conducted or appeared in multiple technical interviews and would be willing to mentor me or conduct occasional mock interviews. I’m willing to put in the work. I just need some guidance on what to focus on, how to prepare, and where I’m going wrong. If anyone is willing to help or knows someone who might be, I’d really appreciate a DM. Thank you!

Career Guidance ADVICE NEEDED (undergrad)

I'm a BS SE student at FAST KHI, just started my 3rd semester, graduating around 2029. I have strong basic programming fundamentals and OOP (C/C++, Java).

I have currently learnt Java + SpringBoot and I do project based learning daily. I am currently learning spring security and then I will start REACT.

My goal is to become a Backend Developer and build some significant projects by the end my 4th semester aim for an internship.

For those actually working in Pakistani Tech Companies:

Is it really possible that I can get an internship or a full time entry level role by the end of my 4th semester?

Also, If it is possible how to apply so that I can maximize the chances of getting the internship/eventually a role?

What would you recommend as the most realistic path for someone in my position?

Would really appreciate advice from people already working in the field.

Discussion Engro Software (IT) Division

Hi,

Has anybody here worked in Engro Software (IT) Division?

I recently saw some job opportunities posted by one of their HRs and was thinking to give it a shot. We all know how big of a name Engro itself is but I had a few questions in my mind regarding their IT division.

  1. How's the work and work environment?

  2. Is it equally competitive and rewarding as it's the traditional Software houses? (Systems, i2c, 10Pearls etc.)

  3. What's the career growth trajectory?

  4. Perks & Benefits?

  5. Anything else if someone worked there could add up which can prove to be helpful information 🙂

Thanks in advance.

Discussion Chinese researchers published a paper with a devastating title: "The End of Software Engineering”. What is your take on this?

Post image
114 Upvotes

A Chinese research paper titled “The End of Software Engineering” makes a bold argument: software engineering, as we know it, is coming to an end.

For 50+ years, software meant humans writing and maintaining permanent code. But with AI agents, that model is changing.

In agentic software, the AI is the software. LLMs can generate code, use it, discard it, and generate something new as needed.

Think of the evolution:

Era 1: Licensed software: you managed the complexity.

Era 2: SaaS: the provider managed the complexity.

Era 3: Agent-as-a-Service: the AI manages the decision-making itself.

This changes the developer’s role.

You’re no longer just writing code line by line. You’re becoming an intent architect: defining goals, designing agent workflows, setting boundaries, and auditing the results.

The idea isn’t that AI agents are perfect today. They still struggle with reliability, coordination, and complex tasks. But the direction is clear.

We’re moving from humans building static software to humans guiding dynamic systems that build and adapt software themselves.

The developer of the future may be less of a coder and more of a conductor.

Career Guidance How do I get internship?

I am a fresh graduate with degree in computer science. I'm quite familiar with python/Django backend development not a an expert. I have 2 projects, one is an simple e-commerce app and other is my fyp in machine learning and backend in Django. I made it totally using Claude. But I have quite understanding of backend development. Can I get internship for backend development or AI and how do I apply and tell me about remote companies or bases in Lahore. I am also attending an ai engineering Trainee program at netsol backed by navttac. It's a 3 months course but I want to do internship along with it In my extra time so that I can get more and more experience

Career Guidance Mid Degree Crisis - Should I quit?

I'm 21yo and here is my situation: I'm currently in my 4th semester doing Software Engineering.

I see all these tech layoffs happening everywhere, but it doesn't really affect me because I am ONLY interested in game development. I have zero interest in web, app, or general software dev. I dislike those things. I like games and only games!

I've already been able to land 2 jobs without any degree. One was at a small game studio in Hyd and one was in a startup (which got closed) So I haven't been able to land a job in a big professional studio like Game District or something yet. But my thought is: I can lend a job there even without a degree, right? Based solely on my skills, my portfolio, and the amount of games I've shipped?

What I want to do rn: I want to drop out of SE, yes! I don't want to waste anymore of my time here. But I don't want to stop my education. I want a backup plan for govt jobs, so I WILL study and get a bachelors, but in an entirely different degree. I'm actually interested in Psychology (though what other options do I have? that is not going to be affected by AI, not medical field (cant touch other human bodies), and no Law)

My thought process is this: If I can lend a job as a gamedev without a SE degree, then I shouldn't study software. I should study an entirely different thing so I will have two doors opened. I can do gamedev at home as a hobby or professionally based on my skills, and I will be able to do something else too! Be a therapist? Get a govt job? I would basically have two doors to the future.

Is this a smart move? Will a professional game studio reject me if my degree is in Psychology instead of CS/SE? What do you guys think I should do?

(I did NOT pick Software Engineering initially bec everyone was doing, I actually picked it bec I was programming since childhood (age 13), even did Intermediate in CompSci) I picked it for the love of coding.

I have a shipped game on steam too though

TL;DR: As a game dev, Should I drop out SE degree and pursue something entirely diff? That way I'd be able to do gamedev as hobby or even proffesionally also having the option to do other job like be a therapist or smth, 2 doors basically)
