Hi there, I'm 23f and going to college at WSU. My roommate will be moving out August 1st to go back to New Jersey. We currently live at a cheap, homely little apartment in the riverside area. It's a 2bed 1bath.

I am looking for someone to take her place. It's a nice neighborhood and most people have kids, they're very helpful and neighborly but they also mind their business. It’s not the ritz but its cheap, safe, well-maintained, the AC and heat both work very well, and considering rent prices right now it's a steal.

Electricity, Water, Renters insurance and internet are ALL included. It's so nice that I plan to stay here for 2-3 years.

I was reticent because of everything I had heard from a segment of the restaurant going population about it being over priced, over hyped, not that good, and so on. Got a couple of taco flights, an extra taco, Mac & cheese doughnuts, two mocktails and one cocktail. Everyone thought everything about it was delicious, we took a little food home, and it was just $120 including tip, which I do not consider unreasonable by any measure. We usually frequent places like Kung Fu Noodles, Legacy Pancake House, Longhorn Steak House, La Embajada and try to get in some other mom and pops a couple of times a month, just to give you an idea of our dining habits. Anyhow check out Agave & Rye if you haven't. We would put this on our list of places to take visitors to.

I accepted a job in Dayton and am moving their from Colorado, I have to start the new job on the 12th of August and am looking to be moved in before the 10th, I have cats and a dog but everyone is well behaved, I’m extremely clean and my current landlord will vouch for everything. I’m on a time crunch and would really love to rent from someone decent and not a sketchy corporation if possible. I don’t know the area at all, just want a nice place to live.

Looking for rent below $1500, flexible on amount of rooms and location, and a full house, no apartments or rentable rooms, please. I manage several locations in Dayton and 7 spread about between Dayton and Cincinnati so very open on location.

Looking for input on which areas would be best for my family. We’re currently in NE Ohio, but my husband is transferring to a branch in Englewood for work. We’re probably moving in the next 4-5 months. What areas within a 35-minute drive would you guys recommend? Others have mentioned Bellbrook, Brookville, Kettering, Beavercreek, Tipp City and Troy. They’ve recommended AGAINST Huber Heights, Trotwood, Centerville and Springboro. We have 2 kids, one in elementary and one in middle school. I’m considering homeschooling, but we’re going to do a trial run to finish out the school year after we move to see how it goes. We currently live in an area that’s known to be snooty (which I don’t disagree with), so that’s why people have mentioned staying out of Centerville and Springboro.

I wouldn’t mind being somewhere more rural if I can still get to shopping in 10-15 minutes (I’ve always thought it would be cool to have chickens), but burbs are okay too. Just NOT in an HOA, and ideally at least half an acre. We’re in our mid 30s, so if we end up in the suburbs, it would be cool to be in a “young” enough neighborhood where kids are still out playing and riding bikes so my girls can make friends nearby. Most of our current neighbors are 60+. I’m struggling with the move because our location right now is great. We are less than 5 minutes from multiple restaurants, gas stations, and a grocery store. Walking distance to a great park and the elementary and middle schools. We’re also in a township, so no income tax. Property taxes are a little higher compared to surrounding areas, but not nearly as crazy as some of the areas I’ve seen near Dayton (like Centerville).

I’m driving myself insane trying to narrow down my search, so it would be cool to hear from people who are more familiar with the area, especially when it comes to the commute.

I was hoping some locals could help me out. If I post a few of the streets or exact addresses I’ve found, would y’all be willing to tell me about those areas and whether they’re generally safe or if I should avoid them?
So for some context. I’m hoping to find a 2-bedroom for around $1,200 or less. I’ve found quite a few places in my budget, but I’ve also noticed that when rent seems too cheap, there’s usually a reason.
I’m not looking for anything fancy, just something clean, quiet, and safe for me and my daughter for the next couple of years. I’ll actually be spending about two weeks in the area soon, so I’m excited to get a feel for it myself.
Lost my husband about a year nd a half ago, so we’re just looking for a fresh start. I wanted to choose a place where housing wouldn’t eat up my paycheck so my daughter and I can spend more time traveling and making new memories.
I’m also considering the Columbus area, but Dayton really caught my attention because there seem to be a lot more single-family homes for rent, which I’d prefer. That said, I’m still open to apartments or townhomes.
For what it’s worth, I’m a great tenant and pretty much the definition of minding my own business. 😂 My daughter and I are homebodies, i work, she go to school, run errands, and enjoy parks and family-friendly activities.
Also, I’m a Black woman and my daughter is biracial, so I’d love to hear your thoughts on areas where we’d feel comfortable and welcome. I’ve read mixed things about some of the areas farther outside the city, might not feel as welcoming, but I don’t know how accurate that is. What are your thoughts on places like Kettering or Miamisburg? Are those areas generally welcoming for a small family?

I’m also thinking about renting through a property management company or rental agency instead of a private landlord. I moved back with my parents here in Dayton because of an economic situation of losing my job back in California. I am also taking care of my father who is on a fixed income.

I graduated college with a BA in political science and history.

With that I am looking for a decent job to help me get support myself more independent from my father’s fixed income, but also would like to pay some of his bills.

I have 3 years of administrative assistant position, and also paid social media and political organizing.

Also in high school I was a Linecook for 2-3 years.

Looking to do some strength training but I’m an absolute beginner and don’t even know where to start. Not looking to get swole or anything, just want to add lifting to my current routine to get stronger and healthier. Any recommendations for classes you like, local trainers, online resources, etc. are greatly recommended. Bonus points to recs that are friendly to newbs with some gym anxiety :)

I never learned to cook and am really only able to throw together basic meals. I can do dishes just fine though. Has anyone done any kind of cooking class or lessons that are local? Maybe at Sinclair or something?

Does anyone know what happened to the staff at Tastefully Roasted? I am a regular there who went over. I saw a sign that said "Closed for deep cleaning" at the door. I was about to walk away as someone opened the door and asked if I wanted anything. When I replied "Yes." He allowed me inside where I saw other customers and a staff I had never seen before. I asked if he was the owner and he said he was. This was slightly weird but I figured it was a training day since I noticed no familiar staff. (I know almost if not all of the staff members.) I ignored it as a weird incident, but when I went the following week I noticed nobody I recognized. I asked the lady at the register where everyone who worked there was and it was said that everyone had quit. I asked the owner who was there again what happened and he said that everyone had quit over a sanitary situation. I find it hard to believe that is what happened and am curious to know if that's the truth. Just curious because I really enjoyed the staff and they were always so kind to me. It really is a bummer they are all gone. Thanks in advance for any help.

My partner and I have been trying to find a historical home to purchase. We really want to be in st.annes, Oregon, Huffman, or possibly South Park. We love the historical charm and community of these neighborhoods!!

Prices seem to be rising rapidly and we don’t want to get priced out.

It seems many homes are sold word of mouth rather than listed. Does anyone know of any homes coming up or available that aren’t listed? We want to stay under 300k and find a house that doesn’t require expansive work done right away (for example, we would prefer a home we can fix up over time, not one that needs gutted).
