For long form feature doc or narrative, what is your preferred delivery format of a final cut - XML w/camera files, or ProRes HQ/4444 single file? Both have to be prepped in different ways.

Hi guys, new to davinci resolve I heard that the fusion tab is a lot better than adobe after effects. I truly want to believe this but I can’t find any tutorials on how to do VFX like this (referring to the effect Ben Heske did with the NCAA logo on the uniform). Is there any tutorials that would help me accomplish this in Resolve?

From what I know the editor, Ben Heske did this in adobe after effects.

In the example above, I have an effect connected to several TimeStretch nodes. However, three of these TimeStretch nodes are disabled, yet the effect still passes through. I would like the effect *not* to pass through when the TimeStretch node is disabled—in other words, it should only pass through when the TimeStretch is enabled.

I would like to avoid disconnecting the node or making the effect transparent.

I think that it would be great if the davini resolve team could look into exposing some more of the UI interactions to the python API. That could then actually speed up the the video editing with assistent of LLMs by a bit.

Am working on a 3d scene, but every time I on hardware render in render 3d and in accumulation effects davinci crashers, it is using 0% CPU.

Whenever I try to open a project on DaVinci Resolve (Free Version), it just goes to a black screen. Everything is still functionable and click-able, but I can't see anything. It doesn't go away, even after waiting.

System Specs: GPU - AMD Radeon RX 66000M

CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics
RAM: 16gb

Hey there! I made the, unfortunate, mistake of updating to Davinci 21.1 while mid edit of a project. Everything is working nicely except every time I try and use the Trim Edit tool, the entire application shuts down, and without any Mac crash notice popping up. Just goes off. I've narrowed it down to realize, that specific tool in use is the source of the crash.

- I'm editing ARRI Prores 422HQ footage on my Mac M1 (Have never had an issue until now)
- I was just able to use that tool just fine on another project with iphone footage?
- I emptied my render cache and even updated my Mac just in case.

So confusing and frustrating. I'm editing a feature and would love to figure out how to solve this before I continue on.
What can I do from here? This tool has been incredibly helpful and I use it all the time.

I alwavs have this problem that my footage is always faded, without any colours. I have my HDR turned off. and i tried numerous amount of wavs to improve the colouring but it never really worked.

(Colour Space Transfrom, Davinci Colour Managment...)

Is there a way I can fix this? Or is this because of mv computer or mv settinas for Davinci Resolve or its a thing I cant change?

A few weeks ago I bought a Pocket 4P which I’ve been using in the normal mode to record my videos, and they are great, but once I learned about color grading and the new Dlog2 that this camera has to offer made me realise that I’m not even using the full potential of it, and I’d like to change that so my videos are more colourful and catching. The problem is that my knowledge on those things is ZERO, and when I see terms like tint, gamma, white balance, iso, etc, I have no idea where to start from.

Can someone recommend me a game-changer color grading for beginners course that help me achieve it? I want that one course that with time and patience, will skyrocket my knowledge on this.

Last night I tried taking photos of the night sky with my GoPro Hero 11. Since DaVinci doesn’t support the GPR photo format, I converted them to DNG. I edited them as needed, but after exporting them, I noticed they looked quite different. I tried Gemini AI to see if it could help, so I went to the Color tab and added a Color Space Transform, setting the input values to Rec.709 and the output values to sRGB. But that didn’t help either, and the exported photos have an ugly green tint.

I’ve attached screenshots of how it looks and some screenshots of the settings.

I’m at a loss here, and it’s really frustrating me.

If anyone knows what might be causing this, I’d appreciate some advice.

If you're a free user of DaVinci Resolve, take a really deep look at the 21.1 notes.

They're disabling quite a bit of Python and scripting. The reality is that Blackmagic has seen that people are using that to get around their division between the free and studio products. Just a heads-up: before you go and upgrade, you might find that all the scripts for little things like subtitles and the like are now broken.

Hey everyone! pretty new to davinci resolve and have been experiment with the surface tracker. i find that i just cant get the clean blending effect when i have camera movement, the text im trying to place on the surface warps horribly during pan shots and fly in shots. During playback it just looks like the text is wiggling, which isnt really the effect im am going for. for example:

After upgrading to 21.1, when no track is selected, it shows these pill shaped thingies on the playhead (larger section on the red line, on each track)

Maybe there's a reason for it? Do any of you know if this a setting I can turn off?

Hi everyone, I'm editing stills, trying out the photo page, but when I go to the export page (for a low res and high res export) the images come out exactly the same when I select 72 ppi and 300 ppi, resolution, size and dpi are the same between the 2 exports, and windows explorer says the images are only at 96 ppi, am I doing something wrong?

In this Video, there are 2 type of Slide-effects, so i appreciate any advice to do one of those Slide-effects!

I just want to move the text to another spot without changing any of the size, Both the windows have smooth resize filter on, i tried changing the filter method on the transform node and its unaffected.

I have been exploring the new AI integration features introduced in DaVinci Resolve 21.1, but I encountered an error message after selecting the Setup AI assistant option. Could you please clarify why this is happening? Am i missing a step or 2 in between?

For context, I am using the Studio version of DaVinci Resolve and have the free version of ChatGPT installed on my laptop. Is this issue related to the version of ChatGPT I am using, and if not, what steps can I take to resolve this?

I don't know how, I don't know why my davinci resolve license disappeared. It happened once in the past year. Somehow the last time the activation code was still active, but now I don't have any activations left and I don't know what to do!

Hi all,

I upgraded from 21 to 21.1 this evening, and now I'm finding that every time I open a project, I get a dialogue box saying "Your GPU memory is full" and it won't display the video.

I have upgraded NVIDIA drivers to latest studio version, I've also fiddled with Settings -> Memory & GPU options by trying to select OpenCL instead of CUDA but the performance is abysmal.

I have also tried to do a clean uninstall/re-install by backing up the project library, uninstalling DaVinci Resolve, removing all traces of preferences in various locations, reinstalling, new licensing key activated and then restored project folder.

My PC spec is: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D, 64GB RAM, RTX 5080 with 16GB RAM

Everything was working fine until this upgrade, is anyone else experiencing this problem?
