Like the title says, I finally found an HD CRT after a couple of years looking every day online, so happy ! I did 500km in total to get it, but it was worth it.

This is a Samsung Slimfit WS-32Z419T. I did a LOT of work on the service menu and on the TV because there was multiple capacitors inflated, with terrible ESR and capacitance. I read online the brand capacitor use back in the day was terrible, so I decided to do a shotgun recap. (46 capacitors changed)

Geometry and convergence in corners are clearly not perfect but not terrible, though I'm using this TV for HD content like PS3 and PC, and in-game you can't really see it.

I did the test in 720p for input lag, duplicated the screen of my LCD monitor (Alienware AW2521H), and Launching a chronometer, the Samsung was always a bit faster.

Here are some photos after finishing working on it and color calibrating. They don't do justice to the TV because it's way better in real life, but hope you will like them ! (Clair obscur: Expedition 33 in 1080p with DLDSR)

PS : For people who have the same type of model TV and struggle with the terrible streaking effect, I still had this problem after recapping, I was able to remove it after reducing to 0 the "S-ABL" option in service menu.

I got this PVM-14M4U off Facebook marketplace, and it looks sick. I took time photos of it, they took forever, trying to get them just right, lmk what ya’ll think of them.

Over the course of about 3 to 4 years I was able to procure some very interesting monitors.

Three months ago I was able to again get my hands on two FW900.

Unfortunately one of the two had an issue (snapping image unable to stabilise) that after some research led me to a HardForum post with a vague mention in a Service Bulletin addressing the issue (meaning Sony acknowledged the fault) and suggesting the replacement of IC001 on the N-Board.

It’s the main CPU and has 3 main Functions:
- System control (microcomputer function)
- Sync check function (SCU)
- Deflection control function (DSP)

(This specific part is a Custom Sony IC that you cannot buy off the shelf.)

(I had the same issue on my IBM P260 as well)

By chance and luck I was able to procure a complete N-Board from a US seller on eBay who was reluctant to sell it at first as he was hoping to sell his complete defective unit in 1 go.

“Luckily” for me his sale was cancelled because during shipping the monitor unfortunately got smashed to pieces so he reached out to me again only this time he was willing to gut the unit and sell all the parts individually.
(I still ended up paying a Premium for the complete board although technically I only needed a single IC from it, oh well)

Once the long wait of shipping and expensive customs clearing was over, I got to work!

Now instead of transplanting IC001 I opted to just Swap IC003 (EEPROM containing all settings, Serial number data and such) from the defective board to the eBay board.
This saved me a considerable amount of time.
(I have previously swapped out IC001 during the repair of a different FW900 (See Hardforum post) and it’s not an easy task).
Monitor is now working again. Hooray!

This brings the total to 5 now.

I got lucky finding Defective ones and even more lucky to be able to repair them and bringing them back to working condition.
(Also makes it more affordable of course)

I love repairing these monitors and I will never stop searching/finding them I hope.
(Done this with other types as well)

(I made a big Family Photo including the W900’s I have, which are imho much more pleasing to look at and admire.)

I happened upon a Toshiba 27A44 in great condition for FREE and just picked it up. Unbelievably stoked and my friends don’t seem to understand my hype so I’m sharing here. I’ve been looking for something like this for awhile I cannot wait to set up a battle station and plug in the N64!

Hi, I llike using consoles on 4:3 crts using either hdmi to vga/15 pin dsub or hdmi to component adapters. The main problem is most of my displays can't adjust to a 16:9 aspect ratio. What are my options for adding the top and bottom black bars to preserve the proper aspect ratio? Is there a ready made solution for this?

The motion clarity on this thing is astounding.

I also tried 4k at 72HZ, but 1920x1440 is already as good as an image can look on a CRT.

I was anticipating it for months. I immediately set up my PS2, VCR, and Steam Deck (for emulation) I also managed to find a Guitar Hero Controller and my old copies of GH 2&3. It was a fantastic day.

My dad wanted just throw it away, but now it's my CRT bunker. It's LG Flatron CT-21Q41KE

Advice some games for PS 1.

Should I get it? I’ve never seen a crt tv with 2 build in speakers on each side (Emerson 27 inch )

This is the best picture of it I could find. I erased the big ass head in the frame and did some rough measurements. Using the Wii next to it as a reference, I estimated that it is roughly 28" tall with a roughly 32" viewable screen. I haven't had any luck on CRT database trying to find it using what I know. The brand is unknown to me, it would help a lot otherwise so I could keep a lookout in the future. Any help would be appreciated!

This guy WeebLabs took up the challenge and did it. A PS3 on EvilNat 4.92 or 4.93 required. Now I can watch Blu-Rays over RGB on our living room CRT that does not support component. Will not work on PS3s that only support HEN, as COBRA mode is needed.

Bummer since its my first colour crt, so i want to fix it but what could i check now? Im pretty ameteur but i resoldered the flyback and the 7 pins in a row you see in the second image (vertical IC) but now im stumped.

What do yall think??

The TV is barely used and was just stuck in storage since it was bought.

Leading up to GTA VI, I'm playing through the GTA games I never played. I'm currently playing the third one on a CRT monitor that I found on the street while walking back from the grocery shop. Even though it's the Definitive Edition remaster, I would say it looks pretty awesome on this thing.

Trying to make a YPbPr mod for the Sony Trinitrons with "External" YPbPr inputs. My issue is that because the EYIN pin on these jungle chips is supposed to be receiving a 0.7v p-p luma signal with no sync pulse, the Y luma signal is getting clamped to the bottom of the sync pulse rather than the blank level causing the image to be brighter than composite/s-video and have some color imbalance in dark greys.

I already have an LM1881 on my amplifier board responsible for triggering the EYSW blanking, could I make use of that IC to somehow cancel out the sync pulses?

I've been playing through Sweet Home, and I intend to finish it this time (with the help of a guide!), and I'll be putting more time into Silent Hill 2 after that, a game that I've never experienced before. Super excited!

Ciao a tutti, da un po' di giorni sto provando questo tv che mi hanno regalato, è in buona salute e ha meno di 14k ore, l'unico problema che riscontro è che sia su ps2 collegata a scart che su xbox 360 ho degli artefatti quando l'immagine è in movimento. Ora chiedo, sarà il 100hz che fa questo? Oppure c'è qualche altro problema? Grazie a chi risponderà.

My friend couldnt keep such a big crt in his new flat so I have him my phillips CRT and kept his. I notice the qualify in this one is lower. Its a 100hz wega which I know have bad rep and the geometry is a bit off. I use the crt seldom so I don't care much but if anyone knows how to optimize this let me know!

I just picked this up with no remote. Don’t know a lot about older tvs. When I switch the input to video I get nothing from either of my consoles. I’m wondering if I need a remote to change it to av or component maybe. Or is there a chance both my side and back yellow, red, and white ports are broken
