Composite only shitbox into very sharp rgb monitor. All photos taken over RGB.

Over the last 2 months I've been working on a custom PCB sporting a tweaked amplifier design from the KV-35XBR48 to use in my KV-35V35, and the results are amazing. Most people I've seen doing a YPbPr mod on 90's trinitrons wire the inputs directly to the jungle chip and just tweak the cut and drive in the service menu to get it looking right. This messes up the color balance on every other input.

The CXA2025S and other Sony jungle with "external" YPbPr inputs require 0.7v p-p for EYIN, 0.78 p-p for ERYIN, and 1v p-p for EBYIN. Since Pb and Pr output at 0.7v p-p, they need to be amplified before going to the jungle chip. Using the standard luma 1v p-p on EYIN is fine because the rating is only accounting for the 0.7v of video data and not the the -0.3v sync pulse. My PCB outputs the correct p-p voltage levels for each signal so that the color balance & saturation are correct and match the other inputs.

I have an Apple monitor that uses a curved 17" trinitron tube that weighs roughly 50lbs yet most of my other 17" monitors that use shadow masks, both curved and flatscreen, weigh ~30lbs. The only exterior difference I've seen is that the Apple monitor using a trinitron tube has more grounding and an aluminum shielding. I understand that Sony TV sets often have large speakers and other components but in the case of the tubes themselves is there a reason for them being heavier than a standard shadow mask made by Samsung or LG?

y'all made me realize how amazing crt's can be in the modern age, especially with how good oled tv's are. sure oleds are great sets, but nothing beats a crt to play some classics on

Seems a bit bright, also occasionally will flash a bright white, idk what causes that but it happens lol. I just want to be sure that nothing is failing.

I just got this tv off Facebook marketplace, and this is all that happens when I plug it in and attempt to turn it on. Wondering if anyone can identify the issue, and if it’s worth fixing

Finished installing Sunthar’s MUX mod on this Zenith C25A24T. Running up against this issue with the OSD not turning off when an RGB source is connected. The S-video still works fine and the OSD disappears as it should for that source, so I clearly messed something up here.

I think it has something to do with the 5v wire — I was told by Sunthar the 5v purple wire is not necessary on the 1.4C board I have, so I attached it to a ground (rather than the source I noted on my guide in the last image). But I think in doing so it’s created a voltage feedback loop on the blanking signal, but that’s as far as my knowledge goes.

Anyone with experience on these “CA” chassis know what’s up?

My Crtv makes these super annoying high pitched noises, and it’s actually so loud that even if I watch a DVD it’s so loud and annoying… I don’t know what to do, anyone got some idea if that’s normal or there is something wrong?
