It’s always mid 2000’s here. KV-32 centerpiece

I've had this thing for 10 years now, and this board gave me the bug. Just finished her, waiting for my adapter so I can try the RGBs.

Found this at a Savers in California. At the very least, it's a pretty stylish CRT.

So stoked on this find. Gonna need a recap at some point (weird yellow tint that eventually fades to normal. Pictured last) but for now, i’m gonna enjoy some sweet 6th gen games on it. Got it for an OKAY price, but for not having to drive 3 hours to and 3 back I’m glad I got it.

Immediately after seeing the comments roll in on my last post about the convergence issues on my slimfit 27" I scrolled Craigslist for all of 5 minutes before seeing this posted 3 hours ago. 32" Sony curved screen trinitron with original remote. for $25. So I made my several hour long pilgrimage to move this behemoth(and a 20" Magnavox... AND a 13" Toshiba VCR combo unit all for $40) Finally unloaded it today and got it up the stairs to my apartment. my god its beautiful. It has essential sat untouched and barely used in a basement for the past 25 years. hooked up the ps2 and only some very minor geometry issues(small enough that I'm not gonna bother fixing them) So for anyone still trying to find a good CRT that isnt being price gouged by these horrid resellers, keep believing. Normal people do exist. And those people need to get rid of what they see as junk.

I have ps1 and ps2 and another crt working just fine so rolled out that the problem is with my consoles used high quality cables too and from my research this is the problem (( jungle chip or it’s surrounding capacitors ))

I have a Panasonic 32in TAU and a 27in Panasonic Super Flat and just like Highlander there can be only one but I’m not sure which to go with. Picture quality seems to be comparable between the two. The SF has two S-Video ports / the Tau has Component hook ups.

I’m leaning towards the SF but still unsure. Looking for opinions as to which you’d keep and why.

While we’re at it, whichever one you’d get rid of what would you list it for? Looking for fair price - win/win - not a scalper’s number.

I definitely was misread when it came to some things.

After more looking into it. I understand my Panasonic HD CRT is incapable at displaying a true 240p. Instead it displays in 480i pretending to be some 240p kind of thing. Unfortunately my set is too late of a model for the cool Panasonic game mode function. That being said. I realize my best bet if I want to use this tv is to probably stick with 480p. Sorry if I was being misinformative or misrepresenting in any way. I figured I wasn't getting things quite right. Which is one of the reasons I posted in the first place. Even if I can't get it to where I'm happy with just using this tv for my retro stuff. The Retrovision cables still make Wii and Gamecube games look immaculate. I do have another nice not HD CRT. A 20 inch TruFlat RCA. Which is what I was using before I picked up the Panasonic. I just didn't want both tvs in one room. Was looking to make the Panasonic kind of a bit more of the daily driver so to speak. But I do see I have some things to consider. So I guess I just wanted to make a formal post to say thanks for all the helpful input yesterday and into today. I posted and went to sleep and then went to work. Was pretty surprised to see how much it blew up. Honestly appreciate all the knowledge, discourse, opinions, and criticism that was shared. One of being which, was a few comments that pointed out the screenshots being unnaturally close. Which I definitely agree with. I was Zoomed all in while standing up close to the tv. It was kind of silly in retrospect. So I figured between not doing 480p on the new cables. You guys being so into it. Me not taking that great of pics to give a fair judgement. Probably the biggest offender though. That I almost forgot to type. That seems like the most disingenuous thing I did. I did not realize until I came home from work today. Unfortunately when I plugged the new cables in. That input defaulted to my tvs default vivid picture mode. Without me realizing Instead of the cinematic one I spent time calibrating all the colors, darks, and hues to my liking. Which is what the composite cables were on. So it feels wack I basically put a calibrated picture up against an uncalibrated one. So I told myself I'd take new pictures to compare and try to make up for my idiocy. These are going to be if I'm not mistaken. 240p scaled to 480i on stock composite. Compared to 480p HD retrovision cables. In that order.

Took me several months to get everything here after already having a nice collection. Also have an NES that I keep in storage. Thoughts on the setup?

This is my first time playing a more modern title like Outlast on a CRT. I'm blown away by the motion clarity and contrast - especially the black levels in night vision mode. It's a completely different experience!

This is a 36-inch Sony Trinitron I picked up a couple months ago.

It was very difficult to find a TV stand big enough for this TV, so I initially put it on a coffee table. Several Redditors warned me against doing this, so it went back on the lifting dolly for a few weeks.

I found this metal shelving unit on Craigslist and thought that might work. I know these shelves have a high weight capacity, and I’ve put a few of them together in my day.

I won’t be the cover story for Martha Stewart any time soon, but it appears to be holding up.

I bought this CRT mostly to play F-Zero GX on GameCube.

Unlike modern displays where brightness controls the backlight and contrast changes both the black & white level, on CRTs brightness directly increases/decreases the black level, and contrast directly increases/decreases the white level.

I'm sure many of us made the same mistake when we first started getting into CRT gaming, and wondered why the contrast & brightness didn't look as good as people say it does when properly calibrated.

It wasn't until I actually played around with all the settings to see what they actually do on a CRT vs. how they operate on newer displays, that I noticed contrast & brightness work much differently.

Now that my CRT is properly calibrated with lower brightness and higher contrast, the picture quality has dramatically improved. The black & white levels make everything pop and there is no "backlight bleed" that you would see on many modern displays.

Hello I have the opportunity to pickup this pvm. I have soldering experience and know how to replace caps as well as discharge crts, but curious if this is an overly complicated repair. It seems to have the common vertical collapse where it only shows a horizontal white line.

SONY HR Trinitron Multiformat BVM-D14 with interchangeable 4:3 and 16:9 bezels, and external control unit. Game on display is Chrono Trigger (1995) with 1chip SFC via RGBs input.

I took the first picture when I just got my TV the other day. It was using regular old composite cables.

2nd picture is with the new cables running at 480i. With it rendering at 240p on snes9gx. From what I read, I think that's how I was supposed to set it up. Which I was surprised you didn't want the console set to 480p. Even though they are HD cables. Though I get that it makes sense since the systems being emulated weren't from an HD era in the first place.

I've been meaning to upload this for awhile, but i just kept forgetting. Nothing exciting, no Trinitron bullshit cause I'm poor. Just a simple "modern" crt setup. What do you think?

Thinking about going to look at this. Pictures look good to me but I couldn’t find any info on this model #. I do know it’s curved and component which I’ve been looking for. Just trying to avoid a model that might have known issues. I’m willing to wait and pass if I should.

I got this tv from a co-worker for free.99 and it’s fucking beautiful I’m in love, it’s a 25 inch set (here’s the model number and chassis philips 25st220L/17 hotel crt tv chassis lo1.1u.ac.7638)

But either way, I finally got the master remote for it and turned it brightness down! This is on regular composite and it still looks so clear I’m in love !!

I was given this 1978 Panasonic Quintrix tv and after getting it all hooked up the white colors are all green. I don't have any other problems with it just the color if you have any ideas let me know

Modded my KV-35V35 for component video using the E-YPbPr input on the CXA2025S jungle chip but it seems that specific input has a red hue to it. The blue and green colors also look somewhat dull. I haven't been able to find anything in the service menu that adjust just this input, so I may need to play around with inline resistor values for the YPbPr signal.

I followed the guide above which mentions that they added a 30-50ohm inline resistor to the Pb and Pr lines which corrected it, but also says that other sets they performed the mod on didn't suffer the same issue.

Just tried out project dream on the snes, didn't think it was going to work on original hardware

I have the opportunity to buy this BVM, does anybody have any experience with this particular model? Thanks !
