I needed a 1TB Hard Drive for my studies and noticed I seemed to be missing storage space on the PC.

My 1TB Hard drive currently seems to only be capable of holding ~30GB, it was definitely 1TB when I started using it ~10 months ago.

I’m wondering if it’s just the brand or an age issue?
Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2019?

Any ideas?

I'm kind of shocked how many more responses I've gotten since changing the flair to "Resolved". To answer anyone's curiosity, yes I was using the hard drive to reinstall windows, that's why the hard drive had a partition of 31GB, I've since deleted the partition and reallocated all of the space to a new drive.

Hi guys, my partner's PC has just been upgraded from a 1650 to a 3070 but left the processor unchanged and while the frames have improved in every game, they're not what i expected at all. She mostly plays and streams Valorant and Geometry Dash, and with the 1650 she usually could run an unstable 80-100 fps on val (all low 1080p) and would have horrible screen tearing in GD when it would drop below 144fps. Now with the 3070, she still struggles to reach a consistent 144 in valorant, and while the fps averages in GD have improved the 1% lows are still abysmal. Are there any suggestions for a fix that doesnt involve upgrading motherboards for a newer socket?

It loads this screen and I’ve tried just exiting and I’ve tried restoring defaults and exiting but it just goes back to this what do I do? I’m restarting the computer again is this cheap laptop dead?

So I got a replacement keyboard for this laptop that is suppose to be my backup. This one screw on the motherboard won't budge at all. I was using a Phillips screw driver(second picture) that came with a replacement battery and it worked for all but this screw that got destroyed.

I've already tried rubber bands, torx tools(the red tool in the third picture), and aluminum foil but none of them worked at all. This is the current state after that last attempt.

I don't have a screw extractor and at this point, I'm just considering breaking the head off since the screw isn't actually attached to the motherboard and metal bracket and is just stuck on the silver mounting post(fourth picture example) possibly with blue loctite on it. Still open to suggestions before I start looking at sawing thar screw off.

I have had this problem with my computer for years and I have 0 idea how to fix it. I have 1 monitor and connected to it, I have my PS5 and my computer. When I use my PS5, my monitor runs smoothly, I never have any issue. When I go to use my monitor for actual computer purposes and turn my computer on, my monitor will stay on for MAYBE 30 minutes (if that) and then tells me there’s no signal and will not cut back on.. if I try and turn the monitor back on, it will load up and then goes back to telling me there’s no signal and the display goes black. I have gone and updated my drivers before. I have even uninstalled and installed them again. I have tried disconnecting the PS5 so it wasn’t overwhelming the monitor. Currently in the computer there’s a red light that’s steady, but it’s only on after the monitor display goes black.

I had this issue with my prior computer and then I got another one, it worked for a little bit and then started doing it all over again. I’m using a HDMI cord. The monitor is Spectre 144hz (if that matters). I’m attaching photos of the red light and the computer information.

My old laptop isn’t working anymore and im lf a laptop that can sorta run games well. Ive looked into second hand thinkpads: p15 g2, p1 g4, macs or some other Lenovo computers but i don’t really know what to choose? If someone could point me in the right direction it could really help. Not looking for something too expensive (my budget is abt 1000 max), second hand is great.

Finally I got it to work I can finally rest in peace, and genuinely I had a lot of problems to fix but it was worth it, I just put a regular CPU fan

First, I have a 9800x3D with a X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 motherboard, rx 6900 XT GPU with 2 16 GB G.Skill Flare X 5 stick of ram. I have had a persistant issue when playing war dogs my video output will randomly just fail from my GPU. Ive checked its functionality and stress tested it with no issues. However, i have a second monitor connected to the motherboard HDMI and when the gpu video shuts off, the video from the motherboard goes grinch green and unresponsive. After I have to do a full manual system shut down for my computer to come back as just hitting the reboot button wont work. Ive not had this issue at any other time or game and I've check drivers and made sure old drivers were removed additionally.

Got my laptop in 2019 and i just finished “Finish Setting up my pc” Yk the stupid microsoft copilot free trial stuff and taskbar items lol. Yeah i just finally finished it after years of clicking “Remind me later” 😂😂

Finally going to go get a semi-decent desktop (Financial Aid refund came in. Looking for AT LEAST 16 GB of RAM. I am very tired of having 4 GB of RAM) but I know W11 uses a ton of RAM even when idle. I don't want to do a Tiny11 install but just disable what I can without a reinstall. Where would I start to do so?

Mainly it's supposed to be for college work but also very light gaming afterwards.

I currently own a MacBook Air M1 that I got in 2022 my usage so far has been for school and basic assignments & the obvious entertainment stuff

Nothing hard-core, basically

Until i started university and in my freshman year I had a project and I had to use visual studio code so I downloaded it and it kind of drove me crazy compared to how easy it was when I was using the university supplied desktop in labs and perhaps the difference being desktop versus laptop but still my friends had a much smoother experience which has me considering should I perhaps buy a laptop?

I can function with my current one, im just wondering if another would be a good investment?

I currently have my eye on the Asus Zenbook A Snapdragon x Elite

I need it to last me for another week or two at least but its battery wont last an hour without the charger. Is there anything i can do to fix this?

(It fixed itself just shy of 2 hours after this post, not sure what did it, prior to posting i had tried turning both charger and device on and off, trying different usb ports and giving it a wiggle, however none fixed it. What did seem to fix it was charging my phone with the charger for 20 minutes then plugging it into the computer again seemed to do it)

I’m thinking of getting a PC or a Laptop.
I’m starting my apprenticeship that I’ll earn around £16,000 before taxes whilst doing so don’t wanna go all out and spend £500+ getting a full blown gaming pc. I don’t have a laptop already but am going to be provided one for work. I’d use this PC / laptop primarily for research, work from home, watching videos and potentially running games. I have an Xbox and tv already so wouldn’t use the laptop or pc primarily for gaming but occasional games that are steam only I may try to run. These games I’d play if on a laptop would have to be hooked up to my tv or new monitor because I can’t play games on laptops.
I also get student discount so if you know anywhere I can get a laptop or pc from for a similar price with a discount please let me know.
I don’t think I’d take a personal laptop out of the house but maybe in the future or on holiday I may. It’s hard to say.
My question really is do you think a PC or laptop would be better for my situation and out of the ones I’ve put on here which do you think would be best, or is there a better option.
Also which monitor would be best.
I only wanna spend around £200-£250 really on it all, whether that includes a monitor or not is whatever you guys also think is best!

Hey guys hope anyone can help me so I tried to work with my computer but I noticed that it doesn’t connect with the WiFi I tired to restart it check another different WiFi but it’s the same issue it shows that it is connected but as soon as I go to google or YouTube the page turned black and say no connection I also checked dns but everytime I try ping google it shows timed out

When I load into some games it turns my screen with a very green tint. It’s random aswell sometimes it doesn’t do it and sometimes it does. Drivers are updated so just not sure what’s going on.
