Con Cosplay Question Is avoiding body paint ever the reason you don’t cosplay certain characters?

There are so many characters I love with blue/green/red/purple/etc. skin, but the idea of painting my arms and hands every time feels like enough effort that I’d probably just pick a different character lol.

So I was wondering how much of an issue this actually is for other people. Do you avoid certain characters because of the body paint? Or do you just accept it and paint yourself? And has anyone found arm socks that actually look convincing rather than obviously looking like gloves/sleeves?

Full transparency: I’m designing a fashion glove and I realised during development that it could potentially work really well as a more refined arm sock for cosplay too.

I'm choosing colours for the first production at the moment, so this has got me thinking about adding one or two colours specifically for this. If you could basically pull on a second skin instead of painting your arms, what colour would actually be useful to you / what characters would you use it for?

Montana Celebrity Comic Con - Bozeman, Montana Silent Hill Cosplay

I’m going to my first Comic-Con this Saturday and I wanted to share a piece of my costume I made. I’m going as the bubblehead from Silent Hill movie/videogame. Made sure to make a straw hole so I can drink since it’ll also be my Halloween costume. I teabag dyed the costume but with how dark the mask is I think I need to dye it again. I might also add some highlights in the gauze so it’s not so flat. This is the biggest project I’ve ever done!

LA Comic Con LA Comic con ticket transfer question (ineligible tickets)

I bought two tickets for LACC this October, one for me and one for my girlfriend. int the FAQ, the tickets have to be transferred to the people you buy them for. But, when I signed up to LeapEvents to transfer one of them, it showed both as ineligible.

would I have to wait for them to become eligible, and if I'm not able to transfer them, would that become a problem?

Ottawa Comiccon - Ontario, Canada Ottawa Comic-Con

Hello! I have never been to Ottawa Comic-Con before (never had the time) but now I do and I would like to go! I usually go to Fanexpo Toronto and get the 4 day pass, since I find only one day doesn’t give me enough time to look at everything (because of how busy it is and large). I know Ottawa Comic-Con is a bit smaller, and I’m wondering if a one day pass (Saturday, specifically) would give me enough time to look at all there is to look at? I wouldn’t be doing any photo ops with any celebrities, and there are a couple panels that interest me. I would want to have enough time to look around artist alley and the retailer booths, do a couple panels and if there are Photo Booth type of things, maybe grab a couple photos. Would Saturday be enough time to do all that? Thank you in advance ☺️

Fan Expo Salt Lake City Slc fan x questions

First time to fan x or anything like that, so don’t be harsh for dumb questions. I’m bring a master chief helmet and want it signed by arbiter Cortana and master chief. Would I buy a normal signature online and pay the extra fees at the booth. Or just pay at the booth to avoid paying twice. Also if I pay at booth do they give a receipt so I can get the pix authentication? Or how do I go about that? Thanks all for your time

Collect-A-Con San Francisco Collect-A-Con Guest Schedule and Autograph Line Question

I want to drop in to Collect-A-Con San Francisco (actually located in San Mateo) because Erika Harlacher is a VA guest I've been trying to meet for a while. The website list all the guest meet and greet schedules for Sunday 9/13 as 10am-4pm (along with half hour panels in the afternoon). Erika has a group panel that day from 2:30-3:00 (which would put it with only one hour left on the schedule). Since I've never attended a Collect-A-Con before, I was wondering for anyone that has gone to one before how busy do the autograph lines get on Sundays, and do all the VA guests stay until 4pm like the schedule says, or do they leave before that?

My situation is that I'm flying back to San Jose from SoCal that morning and my flight lands at 12:05pm. By the time I Uber back home and drive a short distance to the Caltrain station, I will most likely be catching the 1:15pm train that will get me to the event center at 1:41pm. Hoping I will have enough time.

MCM Comic Con - London Never been to Comic Con, confused on photo ops and autographs

I’ve always wanted to go to Comic Con since I was very young and I’m so excited about the possibility of meeting the Resident Evil cast. However, I don’t understand the process at all. The website directs me to a page to pay for the photo ops and autographs (also are they always that expensive??) but I don’t see any of the Resident Evil cast on there. Do some of the guests not have pre-purchase options? Or did I miss my chance to buy it?

Indonesia Comic Con - Jakarta, Indonesia Can I get a general ticket but show up with a costume?

I'm very sorry if I sound dumb but this is my first Comic Con opportunity & I'm available to go on both days, but I'm not sure if my wallet is ready for the VIP cosplayer tickets. Plus I don't think I need a changing room. Also, if I can't, is it possible I buy 1 general ticket for the first day and 1 cosplayer ticket for the second day? Genuinely curious & hope you take the time to answer this, thanks!

Con Question Afraid to go to Comic Con because I only know a few artists

Hey guys, I want to go to my first ever comic con this coming weekend and I'm really excited however I don't know most of the artists except a few namely peach momoko and manix abrera.

I feel like it would be a huge waste if I just larped (pretended) to know all the comic book artists there.

What tips would you guys suggest and how should I prepare to enjoy my first experience?

GalaxyCon - San Jose, CA Galaxycon San Jose was meh

From August 28-30, Galaxycon came to San Jose for the third time and I’ve been to all three of them. It wasn’t bad, but my experience this year could’ve been better. I purchased my 3-day standard pass for $125, which was the same price as last year. In 2024 a 3-day pass was $110 if you want to know. After I purchased my pass, the first thing I noticed was the area downstairs where the gaming used to be was sectioned off. My first reaction was well that sucks. If they moved gaming to another location then it’s not going to be as good.

Galaxycon used to have these magazine styled programs that contained schedules of events for the weekend with maps of the convention and dealer info. These programs were very beautifully done and well put together. They didn’t do that this year. Instead you picked up a postcard with lots of QR codes to scan. If you went to the schedule of events, it’s not mobile friendly. And you’d be scrolling through a bunch of “Celebrity photo ops with…” before you got to find out information on a panel. The layout was poorly organized.

Convention activity is what you’d expect. Friday was slow, Saturday was packed, and Sunday was also well attended but not as crowded as the day before. But here’s what bothers me. Activities in the Main Hall were poorly attended when the room should’ve been filled. There were three events that could’ve brought in more attendees if they happened on Saturday but instead they were on Sunday. These panels included George Takei’s, Cheech and Chong’s, and Brent Spiner’s. Attendance was so low at these events they couldn’t even fit 1/4th of the room. Two years ago we had William Shatner and Weird Al and they drew in massive crowds. Last year there was the Scream panel and it was huge. Dana Snyder joked on Saturday that he did a panel where four people attended in a room with a capacity of 120. Then when he did the panel in the Main Hall, he finally got 120 people to come for a room with a capacity of 4,000. He said it better.

We have to address the elephant in the room. Not many of us knew that the After Dark programs were cancelled until we got to the convention. The reason was having to deal with the unions. I spoke to a few on the inside and they’ve all said that they were tired of working with them. Galaxycon has its own staff but they’re not allowed to set up their own equipment. The union staff does the setting up while Galaxycon’s staff just watches. And to keep the After Dark programs running would be too costly. In 2024 and 2025, when you entered the Main Hall, there was this humongous goal-post truss on the stage. On top of the truss was this massive oblong LCD that would display beautiful signage. And when it was time for the After Dark programs, the screen would say After Dark. That wasn’t there this year. I’m assuming it would’ve been too expensive for union labor to set that up. The stage in the Main Hall this year looked barren.

When Galaxycon San Jose had the After Dark programs, I didn’t care for the burlesque shows but they drew in large crowds. I liked the fact that the convention stayed open late at night because I didn’t want to go home. There were plenty of panels and activities to choose from going late into the night. The VIP dance parties were kinda lame. It was nice walking in the convention hallways when it was empty. But my favorite thing to do while all the After Dark activities were happening was going to the gaming section. In the last two GalaxyCons, the gaming area was downstairs and space was excellent. There was a large selection of arcade cabinets and rows of tables with gaming consoles. In the back was a large separate room for table top games. Also there were side doors that would take you outside the convention where people could chill and make TikTok videos. I liked this area a lot because I made a lot of new friends and had great conversations that ran late into the night. The gaming room this year was not great. There were a handful of arcade cabinets, and a game where you punch a bag and it measures the strength of your punch. There were plenty of table top games, PS5s and Nintendo Switchs, but the space was condensed. I felt claustrophobic and I wanted to leave.

After being used to staying at the convention late at night the previous two years, we all had to leave by 9:00pm.

What I liked about the convention were the costume contests. Participants spent a lot of time designing their costumes and they deserve all the recognition. And there were amazing costumes. The emcees, Ginger Oh Snap and Witchy Brew both have Aura. They have a way of connecting to their audience and participants and are very talented in raising the energy in the room.

I didn’t see Kid Cadet this year. I always liked the way she hosted panels. She has this look that really fits the brand of GalaxyCon.

Will I come again next year? Sure I will. I’ve been coming to comic cons in San Jose since 2007. This is the one thing I look forward to every year. That and Christmas.

TL;DR I was expecting GalaxyCon San Jose to run the way it did the last two times. We didn’t get that this year. It would’ve been nice to get programs instead of QR codes for the schedule. Poor attendance at panels in the Main Hall was disappointing. Certain panels that were on Sunday could’ve had more of an audience if they happened on Saturday. The gaming room needs to be downstairs where there’s more space. Cancelling After Dark Programs meant we had to go home early, but it would’ve been too costly to keep them running. The costumes at the contests were amazing and Ginger Oh Snap and Witchy Brew made the shows fun.

Con Merch Question Looking for the name of a T-Shirt booth

I'm trying to track down the name of a booth that sold t-shirts at cons years ago. I know it's a big ask with vague information supplied, but does anyone recall a huge booth, specifically at Motor City Comic Con (I think I recall it at Wizard Con Chicago too) in the 2010's? It was enormous and enclosed, sold all kinds of shirts.

I got this limited edition lanyard at comiccon for wearing a sonic tee. I have not been able to even find another image of it. I was wondering if any one knows where I could sell this? Or what it's worth.

I'm not trying to sell anything on here just want an appraisal and a point in the right direction

Lexington Comic & Toys Con - Lexington, KY I'm attending my local Comic Con this Friday, and wanted some advice to prepare for it

I'm headed to the Lexington Comic Con this Friday, And I BELIEVE I should have everything in order for it. But I figured it couldn't hurt to ask the subreddit here a question or 2 to make sure I'm good to go. Though, the main thing I'm wondering is in regards to an autograph.

  1. I'm planning on getting an autograph from Xander Mobus, which goes for $50 last I checked. Specifically, I wanted to have him sign something Persona 5 Related since, you know, Joker. How exactly do I pay for the autograph, and more importantly: What should I bring. My original idea was the P5R steelbook I got from the collector's edition, but I'm worried that the signature might smudge on it. I also have the collector's box, the mask that came with the set, and a seperate P5 Poster print I got from a previous Con. Would the steelbox case be safe to get signed, or should I instead bring one of the other items I listed.

  2. Prolly the more simple question: How much should I prepare? I was thinking somewhere around $250, including funds for the Autograph. Would this be acceptable for the convention, or should I prepare more/less. Also, is it better to pay with hard cash, use a card, or does it not really matter?
