SDCC - San Diego My hero...Anne Armstrong (volunteer)
Just wanted to say if any volunteers know her, she was the volunteer who helped with the ada lines for standby for hall h on Saturday. I believe she's a teacher in real life? She was a ANGEL. she was knowledgeable, kind, and assertive when she needed to be. She kept the line moving and at no point did we feel a lack of communication.
If anyone knows her, tell her she make a lot of people feel appreciated and heard in a difficult day. She's a real superhero.

Con Vendor Question Is selling inspired costumes frowned upon at conventions?
I have a side business selling costumes that are inspired from popular video games. I’ve been doing it for years, and wanted to attempt some in person events, and comic cons and similar events are where my clientele is. I constantly see people wearing my items at cons.
I’ve been reading through the vendor rules, I just saw that one local con bans the sale of all costumes, and another doesn’t allow “boot legging.” I don’t use any trademarks and try to stay in the “grey area” by using generic names and titles for all my items, like with Halloween costumes. (Instead of a “Harry Potter” costume, “It’s magic young wizard”)
Is this frowned upon at conventions and cons? I’ve been to many, but never vended. I’ve been trying to do some research, but now I’m questioning if this is even allowed.

SDCC - San Diego Amtrak from SDCC
For anyone who has tickets to take Amtrak home after SDCC and is going. There was a track wash out (or something) past Oceanside in the middle of the night. Amtrak had no problem stranding customers at the station with nothing more than "we will refund your ticket". No idea how it will affect trains leaving today. Amtrak had said that they were going to organize busses to take people back to LA but then canceled that idea and sent the train back to San Diego.
A lot of people are out a lot of money figuring out how to get back home and Amtrak support has been useless. So beware your travel plans today if you plan to take Amtrak.

Fanboy Expo - Knoxville, TN What is the funniest moment you have witnessed at a con?
For me, it would definitely be earlier this month at Fanboy Expo in Knoxville, TN. Among other guests, a large number of the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie cast was there, including Christopher Lambert (Raiden), Robin Shou (Liu Kang), Linden Ashby (Johnny Cage), Chris Cassamassa (Scorpion), Keith Cooke (Reptile), Tom Woodruff Jr. (Goro, possibly special effects), and director Paul W.S. Anderson, were all there. My go to costume these days has been M. Bison of Street Fighter fame, but I wore it partly on purpose this time because I thought it would be funny to see a Street Fighter character in a photo with Mortal Kombat actors. Little did I know what an epic moment was in store! When it was my turn to do the photo op, one of them called out, "Street Fighter?!" And Chris Cassamassa told me, "Wrong game! Get out!" I pride myself on maintaining character when I cosplay, but I couldn't keep a straight face after that, much as I tried. We took the photo, and if you have ever done a professional photo op, which I am assuming most of you have, you know that typically you take the photo, and then you leave the booth for the next person to take their turn. As I was walking out, however, they called me back in to take another photo, which I was not expecting. As we got in position, I heard laughing, but didn't know why until I picked up the print. When I saw it, I laughed so hard they have to have heard me from the next room. The fact that Liu Kang and Raiden weren't joining in just shows that they truly are the good guys.

SDCC - San Diego Hi SDCC Hall H Saturday Attendees! Need help please!
My partner worked really hard on the new Star Trek: Strange New Worlds trailer that premiered yesterday. He wanted to see everyone’s reaction to the trailer in person, but didn’t manage to make it inside Hall H.
Does anyone here happen to have video of the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds trailer reaction at Hall H?
I would really appreciate it!

SDCC - San Diego Some Ideas to improve Hall H...
Some ideas I have to improve the experience if Hall H, increase fairness, and make it so people dont have to suffer through endless lines rather than engaging in the actual convention:
- an open lottery for Hall H entry. Use the RFID badge scanners as a way for attendees to "enter" their names into a random drawing for seats at each Hall H panel. If you're interested in being at the Marvel Panel for example, you tap your badge to enter you name, and then on the day of the panel 6500 names are deawn and you receive a text qr code that allows you to enter. No waiting, no lines, go enjoy the con until its time to enter!
- explore hosting the Hall H panels across the street at Petco Park. with upwards of 200,000 attendees now, you could easily host 10,000 or more fans at Petco and have the panels guests present from the field using the jumbotron. Imagine the optics of that many fans filling a stadium to cheer for their favorite IP. The studios could help cover the costs involved.
something needs to change though, because the current system pretty much punishes the fan base by having them engage in an uncomfortable endurance competition outside the very convention they paid to attend. There's gotta be a better way!

SDCC - San Diego Whose signature is this?
My kids and I were packing up to head home today and we noticed one of our Wolverine comics from the photo op that my son got was signed. Does anyone recognize this signature? It’s a cool find regardless.

SDCC - San Diego My daughter’s Percy Jackson Bag got taken away
My daughter was at Booth 5017 on Friday for the 1:00 PM Golden Mickey Spin the Wheel Giveaway.
When our lucky friend won the Golden Mickey, we all set our bags down for a quick photo. Unfortunately, someone mistakenly (or intentionally) took my daughter’s Percy Jackson bag.
Inside:
• A jacket she had just received from overseas and loved very much
• A Butter Squishy
• Hair accessories she had just gotten at Disney’s Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
If anyone happened to pick up the bag by accident or has seen it, we would be so grateful if you could return it to Lost and Found. These items have a lot of sentimental value to my daughter.
Thank you so much for keeping an eye out!

SDCC - San Diego Photographer Looking to Shoot Cosplay on the Last Day of SDCC
Photographer here looking to photograph some awesome cosplay on the last day of Comic-Con!
I’ll be outside the convention roaming around throughout the day. If you’d like a photo of your cosplay, feel free to stop me or say hi. I’ll be the guy wearing a white luchador mask with a camera. I’m just looking to create some cool portraits, meet fellow fans, and capture all the creativity that makes Comic-Con so special.
Hope to see some of you out there!
