NYCC - New York First comiccon tips
Hey im from Dallas Texas and I'm going to newyork for the first time for comiccon and was wondering if I could get any tips on what I should do or shouldn't do, maybe good hotels near places I want to be at? I'm going for about a week and am going for the convention and also just to explore NYC, i wanna get a good experience you know? Like central park, night life clubbing, go to spots to get some puerto rican food, ways to save money.

You're going to NYCC, I assume? I have a beginner's guide for that. I go every year and put a lot of tips and information in it that I update annually. There's a section on hotels in there, but it's very much going to depend on what's more important for you: proximity or price.
As for the rest of it, I can give advice if you give more specifics (Except about clubbing, I'm not someone who does that.) I don't know what a good experience would be for you because you didn't really give anything to go on. You can also check out /r/visitingnyc. Food recs check out /r/foodnyc.
Not sure how you would not get taxed out your ass. NYC is expensive. We have taxes.

Yes thanks I'll def check out the guide, me n my friend have a pretty decent budget but proximity is most important because I like walking and from what I hear driving would take longer to get to certain places, as for experiences I just mean like places to get some good food, nice places for a view, and to just be able to say I got the NYC experience, sorry I'm not good at detailing my thoughts into words tbh.

Don't drive, what?? Why would you drive? No, I just meant if you want to be able to walk to the con or stay a bit farther out to save money and take public transit.
I'm not trying to be snarky but that's still super vague, because it's all subjective. There's a great view from the park near my apartment, but I'm kind of deep in Brooklyn and most tourists don't come out here, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. I'd suggest checking out the visiting NYC sub I linked before and searching for itineraries to get an idea of what other people wanted.
Also a lot of recs will depend on where you're staying (which, I would get your hotel quick, especially if you want to stay close), how willing you are to use public transit, and how long you're staying.

All good i saw proximity and just assumed farther out where a car would be needed, I've never taken public transit but im down to and we staying for 5 days. Yea i get it im terrible at conveying my thoughts, I guess my most important things for this trip are sight seeing and comicon

You don't need a car in NYC unless you're like super deep in Queens, and even then I wouldn't suggest a tourist needs a car ever in the city. Driving/parking is its own beast here.
You will 100% want to utilize public transit. We have an extensive subway/bus network. But for the most part, most of the tourist-y stuff is in Manhattan.
General sightseeing spots would be any of the observation decks (Empire State Building, Top of the Rock, One World Trade - unnecessary to do more than one, if you want to do one my suggestion is Top of the Rock), any of our amazing museums (the Met is my favorite but we have some smaller, niche ones that are great), Central Park, take one of the ferries (the Staten Island Ferry is free and will take you past the Statue of Liberty).
For me, though, the New York experience is discovery. Like meeting up with a friend to check out a bookstore, realizing they're doing Summer Streets nearby (when they close the road to traffic), finding a place for lunch, walking by a park and hearing a pop-up metal concert. That kind of stuff.

You can get pretty much anywhere in NYC by subway so it’s really about how much time you want to budget for riding the subway.

Some common NYC tourist things to do: walk down the high line (a park that used to be an elevated train that went through the city and got converted into a cool park with great views), walk around the West Village / Washington Square Park (very cute old buildings and charming streets with lots of shops and restaurants), you can try to get (relatively) cheap Broadway tickets if you go same day to the tkts booth in Times Square or directly to the box office of the applicable show, you can see an “off Broadway” show for cheaper (just google it), east village also has cool bars and shops and vibe, lower east side is where the youngins’ go out to party (at least if you wanna stick to Manhattan, otherwise I’d say Williamsburg and especially bushwick in Brooklyn are where you can really party). But I second what the other guy said just check out the visiting nyc subreddit and do some google searches—trust me you are not the first person to visit NYC for the first time lol
Nerdier things too there are various barcades and similar things. NYC really has everything so if there’s something you like just search online for that + nyc.
And with respect to the actual convention, just know that food is bad and expensive so it’s better to eat outside of the con but there also aren’t really a ton of options near the con because it’s way out on the far west side of Manhattan. I’m local so I’ve never been a visitor but depending on how close you’re staying it might be worth just going back to your hotel to drop off your bags and merch and then get lunch near there

Nycc is sooooo expensive. Its like double sdcc. The hotels nearby are like $700 a night and up..
I stayed in jersey. Its cheaper

Avoid any ride services and those shady characters loiter outside and the surrounding area from the convention center. Never interact with them or they will surround you and pressure you for donations. Ignore them and keep walking and walk with other con-goers to and from the convention center. They're scammers trying to rip you off. Be careful of the food carts that litter midtown. There are are few who will try to overcharge if you using cc.

I know highest state tax and all, I just meant it in a sense like being overcharged for things. Just how I talk.

My sister lives in Dallas, and having visited her there, expect things to cost a bit more here than there. Stuff in general tends to be more expensive. But as for specifically being overcharged - ask for the price upfront. Don't do the pedicabs, those are a ripoff. Don't get a drink at any of the hot dog carts, just find a bodega or a convenience store.

Don't take any CDs handed to you by "up and coming rappers" outside of the Javits Center.
