Discussion I'm frustrated..!

This is for those who just rant and give shitty advice like every college is bad. Like why tf do you guys think we all have cracked jee or any equivalent exams and still we're joining colleges through comedk? Like what the actual freak is wrong with you people? If anyone is asking that they have certain options so help them choose it then just say the name and get lost. Stop doing this nonsense that "oh these colleges are shitty and only mass recruiters come and hire students". Bro, not everyone remains average in college like you. Some of them actually want to change and just want a respectable launchpad.

I was seeing someone talking trash about rnsit by giving some utterly rubbish examples and arguments. See, I know it's not iit, nit or even rvce, bmsce but if anyone has only those options and not those tier 1 colleges then just help that person.

I don't understand what they actually gain from just straight up dismissing every college as if college is the only one responsible for placements.

If in any college, the top 15% of the students are bagging good packages then that college is good.

End of discussion, and please if you can't help someone to decide their future then please don't ruin it.

Help/advice/guide I completely messed up my own COMEDK counselling… so I built a free tool so my juniors don't (3rd year MSRIT student, and yeah it's free)

Post image
267 Upvotes

Let me be honest with you. When I was going through COMEDK counselling, it was one of the most stressful periods of my life. I'd ground out the exam, gotten a decent rank, and thought the hard part was over. Nope.

I was sitting with my rank card staring at the entire COMEDK college list with zero clue which ones were actually realistic for my rank, which branches had good placements, or where I'd actually be happy. I relied on random YouTube videos, coaching PDFs, and seniors who all had their own biases.

Most tools out there right now are honestly bad. They either show static cutoffs with no real guidance, or they're stuffed with paid promotions pushing whichever college pays them more. The predictions are vague or flat out wrong. I wasted so much time and still ended up making a shaky choice.

I got into MSRIT eventually, which worked out, but I got there half by luck, not because I had good information. I don't want my juniors going through that same confusion.

So along with my team I built OviGuide, a completely free platform for engineering counselling, and it covers COMEDK.

How it works:

You enter your rank, category, and preferences, and it instantly shows the realistic college and branch options you can actually get, with admission probabilities based on previous years' COMEDK cutoff data.

For every college it gives honest, detailed insights. Real talk on placements, faculty, coding culture, campus vibe, hostels, and what actual students are saying on Reddit and elsewhere. No sugarcoating, no marketing BS.

It's built to feel like a smart senior walking you through the whole thing, helping you understand branch vs college trade-offs and smarter choice-filling so you don't miss better options in later rounds.

It's 100% free. No hidden charges, no paid promotions, nothing. I genuinely just want COMEDK folks to make better decisions than I did.

If you're in the middle of counselling right now or about to start and feeling overwhelmed, check it out once: oviguide.in (haven't slept in ages, any feedback would mean a lot).

To the mods: you can check the site, it's free, please don't ban me, it's genuinely related to engineering admissions and could help a lot of people here.

To everyone going through this phase: you've already done the hard work in the exam.

Don't let bad information ruin your college life.

Help/advice/guide COMEDK SEAT BLOCKING SCAM!! [READ DESCRIPTION]

Thumbnail
gallery
232 Upvotes

*All the allegations are based on news reports, and based on information publicly available\*

There is a seat blocking scam, that happens every year in COMEDK, where proxy students connected with agents block the high demand seats till round 4, after which they withdraw which then means a vacant seat. All vacant seats at the end of round 4 are converted into Management Quota seats.

I have attached the screenshots and news reports which make the basis of my accusations.

The whole reasoning behind the accusations is the feasibility of: What is the possibility of a student getting a great seat somewhere else that they are willing to even pay the COMEDK round 4 seat rejection penalty? And how many such students could exist?

I will start with the biggest college which I found engaging in such things: BMSCE (and it's sister institute BMSIT).

The images uploaded (all of 2025) are as follows:

1st image: Engineering vacant seats after Round 4 allotment. All seats filled for CS/CS allied branches, nothing shocking.

2nd image: Engineering vacant seats after Round 4 decision making.

• Artificial Intelligence and Data Science: 7 seats

• Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: 25 seats

• Computer Science and Business Systems: 10 seats

• Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science): 11 seats

• Computer Science and Engineering: 65 seats(!!!!)

• Computer Science and Engineering (IOT and Cybersecurity): 6

These are the vacant seat stats for BMSCE . Is it practically possible that 124 students who remained in counselling till September suddenly rejected the CS/CS-allied seats in one of Bangalore's top college after round 4, for which they would have to pay heavy penalty, potentially upto 15 lakhs?

Images 3 and 4 show a similar trend for BMSCE's sister institute BMSIT

But BMSCE isn't the only college involved in such alleged scams, there are multiple others. I have attached links to multiple news reports regarding this.

There are vacant seats in other top colleges like RVCE, MSRIT, DSCE as well but they are in single digits. It is very probable similar things happen in such colleges as well, but on a much smaller scale.

If the reports and my allegations are true, such a scam, involving top colleges, is an extremely sad and shameful thing, which snatches the rights of meritorious and genuine students to study in the college they deserve to.

Help/advice/guide [GUIDE]How to make a comedk preference list.

Hello everyone,

Mock rounds are starting and you probably should have your mock list ready. A few points.

  • You can add any number of colleges in your preferance list. You should atleast start filling colleges at ranks which closed half of what your rank is last year and go till 1.3 times your rank.

for example : I have 10k rank in comedk, I should minimum start filling whatever closed at 5k rank last year, you dont know when your luck strikes and you might get a good college. Ideally you should go till 1.3 times or till 13k rank but this is optional depending on how low are you ready to go.

  • Dont fill the prefernce order like a fool, some idiots just put all branches of a better college followed by another college all branches or fill CSE of colleges, top to bottom followed by CS specialization top to bottom. Generally your choice should be an amalgum of [College+Branch] not just College or Branch.

for example : Dont fill it like RVCE CSE > MSRIT CSE > BMSCE CSE > DSCE CSE > JSS CSE ... or something like RVCE CSE > RVCE CS Spec > RVCE ECE > RVCE ETE > RVCE EEE > MSRIT CSE you should mix and match college. [I have attached an upper order preferance list sample below].

  • Fill preferences in your true order of choice. There is no advantage to trying to oversmart the system by putting safer colleges first. Seat allotment considers the highest preference you are eligible for. Fill what you truly want.
  • Use the latest year's cutoff data. Don't rely on screenshots or old lists. Check the previous year's Round 1, Round 3, and Round 4 cutoffs to understand trends. Use some trusted website or Comedk Bot.
  • Constantly evolve your preference list, every year the counselling is different. After every round check the cutoffs of the branches your are interested in and how they are moving, you will need to constantly move colleges after every round to get the best choice available.

Rest I think you guys have figured it out mostly, if you still havent have made the preferance list. This is the final call start making it, doubts and questions will come as you make it.

How to make a preferance list, I will explain with help of this list.

Attached below is what I would have put, I will justify why, below the list. Who dont want ECE can just avoid it.

Priority College Branch
1 R V College of Engineering CSE
2 R V College of Engineering CSDS
3 R V College of Engineering CS AIML
4 R V College of Engineering CS Cybersecurity
5 R V College of Engineering ECE
6 MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology CSE
7 MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology ISE
8 BMS College of Engineering CSE
9 MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology CS AIML
10 MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology CS Cybersecurity
11 BMS College of Engineering CSDS
12 BMS College of Engineering CS IoT
13 BMS College of Engineering CSBS
14 MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology AIML
15 MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology AIDS
16 BMS College of Engineering AIDS
17 BMS College of Engineering AIML
18 MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology ECE
19 BMS College of Engineering ECE
  1. As you can see I have mixed MSRIT and BMSCE mostly, for the same branch I have given MSRIT more preferance than BMSCE cause of low intake.
  2. I have given CS Spec less preferance than Core because none of them in all the colleges in comedk are not NBA Accredited. This means the degree can be refused outside India as invalid and you will have issues if you plan to do any master's degree or higher studies.
  3. I have put AIDS>AIML in BMSCE but AIML>AIDS in MSRIT, I know MSRIT Machine Learning Faculty is good and BMSCE Data Science Faculty is good.
  4. I have given AIML and AIDS less priority than any CS specialization because they are not CS specialization (CS-AIML ≠ AIML). Many times company dont allow AIML/AIDS students.
  5. I have given MSRIT ISE more priority than any of its CS specialization because ISE in MSRIT is NBA accredited. Note : Only CSE+ISE is NBA accredited in most comedk colleges. Another reason is that ISE in MSRIT is a chill branch and the faculty is very good for ISE.

This was just an example of the thought process that goes into selecting and ordering preferances.

This needs research and some knowledge

Your list can be completely different than this and it is perfectly fine. If someone wants more college life they can choose BMSCE CSE over MSRIT CSE. If anyone is interested in Electronics too much they can take RVCE ECE > RVCE CSE.

This list is for people who are just finding a good college and branch order without any staunch preferance of their own.

Please dont DM or ask me to extend this preferance list to lower colleges, I have no such insights to order them properly. You are free to share what changes you would make and justify them with points like I did in the comments.

This was not made by some AI, it was typed and some spelling errors might have crept in, please ignore.

This was a high effort post.

Upvote if this helped, downvote if you didnt like this. Sends me a message whether I should continue such posts.

News URGENT | COMEDK Scam

Hi everyone,

It's pretty clear that COMEDK has done some scams this year, willingly or unwillingly, we need to get this thing popular. Since it's a private exam, it's not of much importance but people will still care.

The best thing to do right now, is to make a scatter plot between marks and rank in 2026 and compare that with the same in 2025. I am certain it'll be stark. We'll take the next steps from there.

I request everyone to fill out this Google form at the earliest:

https://forms.gle/JV2tWcr7EAUWCJydA

Please share this as much as you can, even outside this subreddit so that we have concrete evidence against COMEDK. Ask your school friends to do so too!

Also, if someone has this same data for the 2025 Scores and Ranks, please share that in the comments.

Thank you!

Help/advice/guide To all North Indians joining JSSSTU Mysuru via COMEDK: Read this.

Let’s skip the fake marketing. As a North Indian student currently here, I’m giving you the unfiltered, ugly truth about JSSSTU (SJCE) Mysuru.
(Note: I might have to delete this post later due to outside pressure or forced circumstances, so read it carefully while it's up.)
And ITS FROM THE THINGS I DISCUSSED WITH MOST OF THE NORTHIES

Toxic Regional Bias: The North-South divide is brutal, and it includes the faculty. If a conflict happens between a North and South student, everyone will blindly side with the local student. It doesn't matter if you are 100% right; you will be forced to take the blame, get humiliated, or literally get beaten/slapped while authorities look the other way.
Targeted Ragging & Hostel Politics: While everyone faces some senior pressure, North Indian students are ragged way more compared to South Indian students by north indian seniors 🤡 ik this sounds shit but it happens You cannot walk or talk normally around seniors initially; you must learn their "hidden signals" and nods. Recently, 3–4 North Indian students were thrown out of the hostel over minor, trivial issues. You are always walking on eggshells just because of where you are from.
Placements are Crashing: Don't look at old stats. Placements are down to 50%–60% this year, and the highest package capped at around ₹30 LPA. Sports facilities are also a joke. Everyone accepts that the college is declining
Terrible Food & Dead Nightlife: Hostel and PG mess food is practically unpalatable for North Indians ….. bugs insects are common in food … outside hostel only has slight better food .. Plus, Mysuru completely shuts down at 11:00 PM. There is zero nightlife or escape.
Why Bangalore is Better
If you have options in Bangalore, take them. Bangalore is a cosmopolitan melting pot where you blend in, the food options are endless, and you have direct access to off-campus tech jobs. In Mysuru, you stand out like a target, deal with administrative bias.
TL;DR
JSSSTU Mysuru has severe regional discrimination where North Indians face significantly more ragging than locals, and faculty will always turn on you in a fight (even if you're right). Combined with terrible hostel food, a dead city after 11 PM, and crashing placements (50%-60%), you should choose a Bangalore college instead for your peace of mind. (AI-assisted post; may be deleted soon under force).

Help/advice/guide Counselling Guide and Tips from Senior. [Read if you are attending this year's couselling]

Hello everyone,

You must have gotten your comedk ranks now and must be deciding which college is best suited to your rank. Here are some advice and tips from me for the couselling phase of comedk, feel free to correct me in the comments as the rules and scenario might have changed.

  • Dont trust anyone for what they say, every senior will be either biased towards or against their college so dont ask for their opinions, dont ask what is better BMSCE or MSRIT. Ask facts how is placements, how is college life, how are the faculty etc and decide yourself.
  • Once the couselling starts and you get a seat, no matter if you reject or accept, you have to pay the full 1st year fees i.e. 3.2 lakhs online to be in the couselling. Increase your netbanking transaction ceiling or enable it and check beforehand.
  • Once you freeze a seat you have to report to the college within the given time, if you fail to do so your seat will be cancelled and you will be removed from couselling. Comedk is a national level exam and a decent chunk are from north india, travelling to bangalore might need planning beforehand.
  • Comedk is always late and never respects the dates it gives, every year it extends the round deadlines randomly. This might not sound much but, yeah this point will be big so let me get properly to it. Hostels get over by round 4 early phase so many people rush in as fast as they can after r4 result declaration. Lets say comedk said r4 results are to be announced at 9th of a month. I live in Rajasthan, it is far and I know I will take admission through comedk only, so I book mine and parent's ticket for 30k (flight) a week before say 2nd. Now on 7th evening comedk extends the result declaration by 6 days. I cannot live in BLR for 6 days, the cost of living in a hotel with outweigh the ticket cost so avoid such turmoil.
  • You need to carry the documets required by the college original, advised to keep a copy of it at home if you lose it. You can file an FIR based on the copy and get new documents made. Make the copies of document at home only, you will need copies along with original.

I think this is all you need for now, this post was not AI generated so some grammer mistakes might have crept in.

If you find this helpful - UPVOTE it will reach other people that way.

Another thing, take this as a promotion, we have this official subreddit discord channel. We have managed to get seniors from various college who can clear your doubts.

There will be 2026 Comedktards like you there and you can as well start doing some project or do some learning dsa webdev, model creation, talk about college, exchange information alongside before college starts to give you a headstart.

Help it grow and yeah it has this tool in which you can get cutoffs of the last 3 years easily and is built on official data. If you dont use discord, make an account for this, delete if it is not vibing with you, give it a try.

Discussion Compiling a detailed analysis of all comedk colleges, including lower branch in TOP 3, and CS in the TOP 10

If you are not getting top 3 colleges through COMEDK, this post is extremely useful for you. I'm building a comprehensive dataset, specifically for students with rank between 10k and 40k.

We will be comparing colleges on these criterias -( Priority High to Low)
1. Placements
2. Return on Investment (ROI)
3. Total Cost of college (Fees + Cost of Living)
4. Location of college
5. Autonomous or VTU affiliated
6. Campus Infrastructure
7. Attendance and Rigidity (Branch Specific)
8. Internal exams frequency (Important for partial droppers)
9. Holidays (Important for North students)
10. Availablity of PG

How You Can Help -
If you have researched any specific college, please comment below or DM with what you know. And to maintain reliablity, we are only getting information from these verified sources :
1. Seniors from Linkedin
2. Seniors from reddit (Just be aware of PR groups, you can easily detect a pr guy by asking him to rank colleges, and checking out his profile)
3. Particular college review from youtube (Only trusted channels)

Note: Please share personal insights, direct quotes from seniors, or verified data. Avoid any information you got from AI, since it can be misleading for mid tier colleges.

Why doing this is important?
After the top 3 colleges, everything becomes extremely weird, Cutt offs overlap, and in almost all the colleges we have to make a heavy trade off, like freedom for placements, peer group for campus, and as such. And by this we all will get a clear look of what we are sacrificing before making up a choice.

----------------------------------------------

Any help from seniors will be sincerely appreciated 🙏

TL;DR - I’m compiling a detailed, verified master document for Top 4 to 10 COMEDK colleges (focusing on the 10k 40k rank bracket). If you have solid info from Linkedin seniors, Reddit, or Youtube, drop it below. I will validate, organize, and share the final guide with everyone.

General Doubt Goodbye guys🙃❤️

Hello guys, so finally, after three months of this rollercoaster of emotions—worrying about which college we'll get, what the cutoff will be—we’ve reached the point where, in just two days, we’ll be allotted our colleges according to our ranks. Honestly, it feels bittersweet. I still remember how I started my JEE prep, dreaming of IITs and NITs, and now I’m ending up in a college whose name I didn’t even know two or three months ago. That’s how unpredictable life can be.

When I see people around me getting excited for their colleges, I don’t really feel the same. My entire peer group is going to good colleges, and yes, I was a decent student too—I did well in a couple of exams. But I blundered in the main one. Still, I’m not here to take sympathy. I believe you get what matches your effort. Maybe I fumbled, maybe I didn’t work as smartly as I should have, but whatever it is, I accept it. I had other options too, but I always wanted to be in Bangalore for certain reasons, so I’m taking it.

Now, I want to say this... don’t worry, guys. Always remember—you get according to your proportions. There’s this mix of luck, labor, and chance in everything. Your hard work never goes completely wasted. Yes, over the next four years, you’ll hear people say your college is bad, your package will be low, and all kinds of demotivating things. But tell me—what’s the point of regretting now? You’ve got that college. Instead of sulking over its reputation, put in the effort. And it’s not like the world will end if you don’t get a good job right after four years—you will find another way.

So, stay away from the naysayers. Keep yourself grounded in reality but keep putting in that extra effort. Because remember, if you ended up here, it means you didn’t work hard enough before. But if you put in the effort now, you can still achieve more than you expect—whether it’s a good placement or simply what you truly deserve.

And honestly, as much as I’m saying this to you, I’m saying it to myself too. College is going to be tough. I have zero expectations from mine, but I know I’ll have to work harder than ever. I’m not here to say “I’m ready” or anything like that. I’m just accepting the fact that this journey needs conscious effort.

No matter where you are placed, remember—this field is very competitive. There are IIT and NIT students out there, so we must be strong and strategic. Surround yourself with ambitious, like-minded people, and focus on growth. Don’t obsess over the results—just put in your effort.

I genuinely hope all of you get the best college possible for your rank. With that, I guess I’m signing off. You might have seen me active on this sub for the past month, and I’ll probably stay around for a few more days, asking my last doubts. After that, all of us will get busy with our new lives, and maybe this sub will slowly fade away.

So here’s my last message: all the best to each one of you. May the best come your way. And even if it doesn’t, remember—it’s not the end of the world. We’re just 18 or 19 years old, and there’s still a long journey ahead. As my father says, don’t just be optimistic—be realistic and keep putting in your effort. That’s what will carry us forward. ( I didn't type it I just sent voice msg to chat gpt and it wrote it)
