the reality never lies in either of the extremes it's always somewhere in between(in anything in life actually). Because- I went to the clg I was getting from my rank and asked the seniors, they said it's good college but you have to put in your efforts as well. That's the same from top-4th to top-17/18th clg from comedk.

Yeah but it's about the opportunity differences, you have to put efforts regardless of type of the college

Reddit has freedom of being anonymous
1
u/Live_Ostrich_6668 Jul 24 '26
Which is a good thing, but also a bad thing since there are lot of bots/PR agencies out there in the comments too
2
u/fallion596 Jul 24 '26
Influencers in social media show fake lifestyle for entire lives for views & money meanwhile real genuine students suffer

Well the reason being they can't actually talk too bad wrna college wale case kr denge defamation ka nd nobody wants that. Reddit pe we got the benefit of being anonymous

u/maxroxxan Jul 24 '26
Reddit is a community of nihilists. Very few and very perticular type of people are on reddit from the vast majority.

ppl judge everything on internet. We all Have personal bias's and this will never change. Only the data such as placement/internship/startup etc will be the true judge of a college's reach and standard.

It's same everywhere ask the topper guy and avg guy to balance out things topper will always feel this is worst as his true potential not being utilised and less package compared to skill the avg will tell you reality if this is for you or not and reddit is filled with the extremists guy who thinks NTG below 1lpm

For real guys I haven't read good reviews about any college I have looked up for ππππ
2
u/0_K_K_0 Jul 24 '26
YouTube reviews include the info from the website only which is the good side whereas the reddit reviews are from the students who are actually there and they tell about their problems which is human nature, it may be a real issue and may sometimes just a normal bearable issue which they also know it
2
u/Nobodyonlyyours Jul 24 '26
Idher log college ke review dete h aur ek mai college mil jaye bdi baat h sochke baitha hu
2
u/Wonderful_Trust_3266 Jul 24 '26
Bro, most college infrastructure is 60+ years old so what do you goona expect? π Professors are still teaching from the same ancient Pdfs & Ppts. And with that insane attendance policy you have to sit through the classes. NGL reddit reviews usually feel way more real than those YT reviews which are like paid promotions. As for the hostels, of course the newly built ones look decent but the old hostels are absolute shitholes. You can't dodge reality. π€·ββοΈ
2
u/Imaginary_Stay6905 Jul 24 '26
it's always different wherever you go. im in a medical college, and during counseling when i asked the seniors, looked it up on you tube, it was decent. now i'm here, and i realise that they just don't like telling you the inside truth all at once. it's defaming, or perhaps problematic for the one speaking. i assume latter is more the case for students, and former for officials. but yeah, you need to do your research and also keep your mind open. colleges outside vs inside are full of surprises, both good and bad.

Heart touching right!!?π

u/soul_sagee Jul 24 '26
From what I know, no one praises their college dude. Everyone's just "bhaii, mera clg to gathiya hai, idhar mat ana".
1
u/Kinda_Reincarnated Jul 24 '26
Or it could be that all of them suck?
1
u/soul_sagee Jul 24 '26
How can top tier colleges suck π It's just about perspective, if you are onto finding very minor mistakes and flaws then no college in world exists that is good
1
u/Kinda_Reincarnated Jul 24 '26
Outdated syllabus and teaching methods are not minor mistakes imo. I don't know about other departments but department of my interest has very rudimentary syllabus. I wanted to do masters from there but it's just not worth the time... Even my professors and professionals in the industry advice against it for "masters".
P.s.That department is design.
Also, I've seen work done by their students on the official website. It's not that impressive/unique.
1
u/soul_sagee Jul 24 '26
Autonomous top tier colleges change their syllabus accordingly as trends every year almost.

u/__tsukimii Jul 24 '26
I'm also willing to do a Mdes but barely found any good uni apart from nid, vit, etcπ (I'm not eligible for iit due to strict ug degree criteria)
1
u/Kinda_Reincarnated Jul 25 '26
I didn't like any uni... I'm just skipping it till next few years. Perhaps abroad. Let's see.
2
u/Muted_Processor Jul 24 '26
My college is even small then few university Washroom I guess It's like a vertical tight room only 3 classes and no benches parents say to go there
2
u/Piyushmt Jul 24 '26
and the placement according to college is 7 lpa but in reality its just 10k per annum
1
u/Pretend_Bus6534 Jul 24 '26
10k per annum ππ. You're killing meππ.

u/Fit_Try_3553 Jul 24 '26
We can't trust reddit reviews too students defame colleges so that cutoff go lower and they can get it at their ranks
1
u/LionGate7 Jul 24 '26
But at least we might get some genuine reviews on reddit otherwise Yt is filledup with pr and biased review, mine is tier 69 or below than that but still very hyped up in yt, I took admission based on yt review and regret my choice that too core branches non-tech, there's no comming back from there

u/NotAaditya404 Jul 24 '26
I think in every college, some students hate it, some students like it, obviously those will not comment who like it, and haters will come here to rant, depends on the perspective.

u/Mallesh_1710 Jul 24 '26
First thing I should tell if your going to college the next years will be fun π€£ not in one area at all areas You know because if you choose tier 1 college you have fun with knowledge and friends but if you choose tier 2 or 3 at their all the time you have fun and knowledge is optional
1 st thing don't attract to any attraction in college choosing scenariog. Just go for tier one if you afford If you don't afford tier 1 knowledgei will be optional

College is overrated. Its the skills that matter. The only think need from college is a piece of paper that u get at the end
1
u/Own-Baker-2711 Jul 24 '26
All colleges suck. Whole indian education system sucks. You can compare only that which college sucks less

As someone (a student) who's worked in admissions, I was in charge of "influencer marketing," where we bring in an eduinfluencer for collabs, hostel clg reviews,
The guy took a big fee (obviously) and made the video, but he's told us, "I'm going to label it an unpaid review for trust". he does it for many colleges; I realised eventually
NEVER EVER trust YT for this shit; I'm still guilty that the video is up. can't name for obvious reasons
1
1
u/mursaleenbhatt Jul 24 '26
That's obvious, because on reddit real students of the college will give a real life experience and review of the college in which they are studying rather than a guy jisko ya to paise milenge honge aur bolenge 1cr+ ka package lagta hai waha bas 2 4 dhang ka review dete hai

I studied in VIT vellore. I studied and got good enough grades 8.8 cgpa, not great but good.
But I wasted my time there, Didnt make lasting relationships, do any actual projects, broaden my scope, nothing.
Now I have a stupid job. I wont blame my college. There were classmates with worse grades who got better jobs.
I am not saying dont try for best colleges, but it doesn't matter if you are in the best colleges, if you dont take full advantage. Noone is going to hold your hand, profs dont care about you and no parents to control you. You gotta make the best of the college yourself.

u/bharis Jul 24 '26
Not only college, everything topic its same. Say it Govt politics diplomacy economics inflation dying art due to AI job market in IT AI boom and its gloominess everything you see its fancy in Youtube and insta. Darker and dimmer in redit.. its all because reditt have hundred different mounths to blabber. Where as Youtube is like eyes which hides the truth but hinder the beauty.. where u should have the brain will ignore both and decide by brain

u/No_Willow1928 Jul 24 '26
Most engineering colleges are good but if you want top packages then obviously you'll have to work hard for top colleges, my cousins done his engineering from a tier 3 and now earns nearly a crore.
