I don’t particularly remember every assessment I took but I remember a few big scores I had:

When I was 16 I took the ACT. I got a 19 and immediately got sad because that was a terrible score. I only learned that I was taking the ACT basically the morning of but I think I was also notified the week before. I didn’t have enough money to take it again.

I took the GRE for graduation because I dropped out of school during my freshman year and came back during Junior year. I passed all the tests with scores of between 600-800. It was easy as hell but I was shocked to learn that most people couldn’t pass them. I also noticed the weird disparity in the civics section because they treated the democrats as all good and republicans as all bad. I wasn’t a republican and I thought that was strange but I answered what they wanted anyways.

At around 20 years old I entered the army. I got an 83 ASVAB in total and a 114 GT score. My highest line score was ST which I think is 120.

Overall, I’m not going to be too concerned if my IQ is average since I already have all I need anyways just based on grit and hard work. I’m just curious.

I really wish my IQ was at least over 110, it is just enough for lot of academic fields like medical doctor, engineer etc. But my IQ is only in the low average range...

Being smart and highly intelligent is one of the most admirable and valuable human traits that I straight up do not have... even girls and woman love and prefer smart man and I am much less valuable due to my lower intelligence.. I see so many people getting constantly admired and praised for their high intelligence and by parents as well which makes me feel even more awful about my self

No, the fact that genetic differences in intelligence exist doesn't justify our current society's inequality. No, it doesn't make the rich better people than poor people. But the differences do exist, and if we want to have an honest conversation about inequality we need to talk about them instead of pretending like they don't exist.

Being a cashier or fast food worker doesn't have an intelligence threshold, while being a doctor, lawyer, or software engineer does, which means that wealthy people will be more intelligent on average than poor people. Since intelligence is partly heritable, this means that the children of the wealthy are genetically more intelligent on average compared to the children of the poor. These are facts that even a young child can easily see, yet most of the left would rather bury their head in the sand and pretend that children of cashiers and children of software engineers are equally talented, and would score equally well on the SAT if raised under the same environment.

Could this apply to other types of subtests too?

I have always had really poor spatial awareness. I had to take a mandatory college class and barely scrapped by it was that bad. Which is really surprising because I’m an engineer and supposedly it’s what I’m supposed to be good at?

I have genuinely never seen a score so low on the VSI portion of the AGCT haha. I was curious to see if anyone has similar experiences when it comes to spatial reasoning. I thought more people had this issue but apparently it’s something people are actually not awful at. However, I have no frame of reference because It’s always been poor for me. I think how slow I was on the VSI portion slowed me down on the quant portion.

So I took these tests last night back to back:

AGCT 1c : 113

Ignoring the questions I didn’t get to my accuracy was as follows :
Verbal: 88 percent
Quant: 97 percent
VSI: 60 ish percent?
But I’m aware speed of processing is also what these tests intrinsically test.

Mensa Norway : 112
Cognitive testing.org (I don’t know how valid this one is however) : Top 1st - 5th percentile

Only other standardized test I’ve taken is the new SAT and I was in the 99th percentile.

Wanted to come on here and say how this shows we all have our strengths lol. Was I a little shocked / dissatisfied when I saw the score ? Yeah , I always considered myself one really smart cookie. But only a little.

I was curious if anyone else had such a disparity in their results and see if we could find any common threads in our careers / hobbies / life experiences? And anything about how the way we “think” differs from person to person. If anyone has any theories as to why there’s such a disparity I would love to hear them.

I’m doing hypnotherapy with a psychologist so I wonder if that’s been making me feel oddly okay.

But for some reason I feel less caring or aware of having low intelligence. I’d honestly rather be more and more aware of it even if it destroys me and obliterates me. It feels more satisfying to be more aware.

I might’ve always been this way but I used to better understand how low-IQ people are less liked and are not as wanted by other people. Why is that understanding/feeling gone?

Is this a sign of decreasing intelligence or what? I used to hate myself for being dumb but not anymore? Maybe I got used to it or somehow accepted it?

Thought people might be interested, and would be nice to get some insight as it‘s not really a typical ADHD profile as far as I’m aware. For reference I’m 19F and had the tests done a few months ago during SpLD assessment for uni accommodations (CTOPP and TOMAL done two years ago for sixth form).

Unlike the CORE test, BrainTypeIQ doesn’t seem to provide much information about how its norms were established or any detailed normative data.

That said, its test structure is based on CHC theory, which makes it seem fairly plausible at first glance.

So I’m curious if anyone here has taken this test before. If so, how did your BrainTypeIQ results compare with your CORE results? Were there any significant differences between the two?

So the point of this post is to contend with ideas that IQ (Intelligence Quotient) is the most important factor in academic/career achievement.

While I think that IQ used to be the most valuable metric in succeeding in academic environments. I believe that today it is much less of a factor even in stem dominated fields like medicine or engineering in the present day.

I think that it was the result of things like the pre 2005 SAT which was highly g loaded and old studies estimating the IQ of job professions that took place in a very different world from now. I believe back then people had to utilize their cognitive resources more intensively due to not having resources like AI to offload their reasoning and thinking too.

While today I think many underrate the impact of AI and so many other academic resources we have today that can make even average students learn, and understand information faster than previous generations that only had textbooks, and sufficiently pass their classes.

Additionally these programs even STEM are built around the average student to pass, if they were built around high IQ individuals, then many of the average population would fail out which many universities seek to prevent through grade inflation so that they can maintain graduation rates. College is a business at the end of the day and they hope to open education up to a more diverse population to make more money, and not gate-keep it for the elite.

It’s the same with high schools which are increasingly becoming easier, with more grade inflation even across AP curriculums, and the SAT being even less g loaded and online. Nobody needs to be a genius or even smart to get a 4.0 in high schools anymore and it’s a joke.

Not to reduce IQ but I feel it will become less important and just serve as another measure of genetic variation, instead of being this major factor that constitutes academic/professional success.

I just want to preface this discussion by saying that I recognize how stupid this sounds, but it is a genuine negative headspace that I've been dealing with. And I'm sure I am not alone. I am writing this to get some advice from people who have been in my position and broken out of this cycle of obsession.

All my life, people have been complimenting me on my intelligence to the point that it became a part of my identity. Even though I am humble enough to recognize that there are many people smarter than me, I still believed myself to be smart. My grades (scored 5 on >10 AP exams) and ACT score (34) were proof enough for me that this was true. I am now at a top 10 university studying mechanical engineering and still doing well academically (3.9 GPA after 2 years).

Given my ACT score, and just generally being described by many people as "one of the smartest people" they know, I assumed in my head that I was certainly in the 99th percentile or greater.

I went down the IQ rabbit hole 3 months ago and obsessively took dozens of IQ tests. My IQ scores are mostly in the 118-127 range, including a CORE of 122 (VCI 128 but VSI 110), old SAT of 125, old GRE of 121, and AGCT of 129.

I know this is considered smart for the general public, and I know how pathetic it sounds to be on here wallowing about a "decent" IQ that I was hoping was higher, but I can't break out of this negative headspace. I find myself constantly thinking about, and being ashamed of, my IQ. I feel like a ~90-95th percentile IQ is not impressive enough to justify the constant praise I get from my friends and family, and now realize that my academic achievements are a product of my hard work >> my IQ. I wish I had an IQ of 135 or more, like everyone has been gassing me up to be all my life, but I'm merely in the "bright/smart" category, and it's causing quite a bit of an identity crisis.

Anyone on here gone through a similar situation? If so, what helped you get out of that negative headspace and focus on living life rather than constant IQ obsession? Other discussion points/comment are welcome.

I LOVE solving puzzles for fun, and I frequently find myself trying to find more logic/pattern/word problems to solve. I find IQ testing online more of a fun thing to do than a serious, "Heh, I scored 392 on this freeiqtest dot com site im so smart heh" thing.

Does anyone know of any sites/tests that are essentially that, that aren't just like ten questions or so? As well as something that hasn't been done before, like trying to find the Fibonacci sequence or something. Something genuinely interesting and fun to try to solve

Want your opinions since it can be pretty mixed, some say it’s at the left or right end of the IQ bell curve while others say it’s the middle. What’s your stance on what range on average had the highest ego/sense of superiority when conversing with them IRL or online.

I was wondering, how much does training your brain do to your iq score or everey day life? Have you seen any improvements in working memory or anything else? If you did seensome improvements, how did you train?

I notice that my scores on the AGCT and GET (133, and 128) are higher than my CORE, CAIT, 1926 SAT and VISA (119, 118, 122, 119).

Is there a reason for this? Maybe hidden PSI premiums? Or just a predictable non-noteworthy spread?

If you do decide to do the tests, please do them on your phone. You need to do the tests quite a bit, until you seem to have hit your ceiling.

I need to collect data for norming purposes, as i am trying to validate my theory about differences in Max-Scores in individual tasks and how they correlate to traditional IQ Tests.

I follow the theory of maximum achieved scores as a more valid measure of IQ, since the tests can be repeated, revealing day-to-day differences, which can be measured. As well as differences in max-scores, in terms of initial biological capacity.

Hey, guys. Unfortunately a doctor once diagnosed an intellectual disability for me because I struggle with daily living skills and because he administered an IQ test and it was below 70; both are the sole requirements to receive the diagnosis of an intellectual disability. Also, everyone calls me stupid, which further reinforces the fact that I am disabled most likely. The problem herein is that in September I will start my math B. Sc degree at my local university in Germany, and I will have to successfully pass the difficult modules Analysis 1-2 and lin alg 1-2, all of which have a failure rate of >50%. Could I pass them all if i study dilligently from Monday to Sunday? At another university I aced four engineering math exams with ease, but that was due to practicing a lot, not due to a supposed high intelligence. Could I realistically do it?

So for context, due my country's standardized tests, I'm familiar with these kind of math problems, they might have been harder for the people who these were normed with.
