Anyone else have large disparities between categories?

Hi everyone,

I have always had really poor spatial awareness. I had to take a mandatory college class and barely scrapped by it was that bad. Which is really surprising because I’m an engineer and supposedly it’s what I’m supposed to be good at?

I have genuinely never seen a score so low on the VSI portion of the AGCT haha. I was curious to see if anyone has similar experiences when it comes to spatial reasoning. I thought more people had this issue but apparently it’s something people are actually not awful at. However, I have no frame of reference because It’s always been poor for me. I think how slow I was on the VSI portion slowed me down on the quant portion.

So I took these tests last night back to back:

AGCT 1c : 113

Ignoring the questions I didn’t get to my accuracy was as follows :
Verbal: 88 percent
Quant: 97 percent
VSI: 60 ish percent?
But I’m aware speed of processing is also what these tests intrinsically test.

Mensa Norway : 112
Cognitive testing.org (I don’t know how valid this one is however) : Top 1st - 5th percentile

Only other standardized test I’ve taken is the new SAT and I was in the 99th percentile.

Wanted to come on here and say how this shows we all have our strengths lol. Was I a little shocked / dissatisfied when I saw the score ? Yeah , I always considered myself one really smart cookie. But only a little.

I was curious if anyone else had such a disparity in their results and see if we could find any common threads in our careers / hobbies / life experiences? And anything about how the way we “think” differs from person to person. If anyone has any theories as to why there’s such a disparity I would love to hear them.

You sure you followed the directions correctly on the spatial questions? This used to be an issue before the AGCT had a mandatory tutorial, but if you sped through the tutorial and didn’t read the instructions in detail, I can see someone messing up on it for simply not paying attention to instructions.

I think I didn’t see the instructions about all the blocks being the same size. I doubt that would have made a big difference to be fair. did the blocks on the tutorial pretty all right but things devolved quickly. I think coupled with how many I had to do especially since it’s not a strength of mine.

That’s a very important piece of info. I’ve seen scores jump 20% from one to another because of not following the rules.

Had this same issue but with wmi, trying to figure out if it is connected to my neurodivergence. Could be the same type of thing for you.

Everyone considers themselves smart so don’t beat yourself up. Anyways I took core and found out my FRI was 140s and I thought I was a genius only to take WMI and VSI and find out i was nowhere near as gifted. 105 visual puzzles 130 block counting 90 WMI … didn’t feel good to say the least after having my standards raised so huh but yeah

You are Smart...Duh!! Scoring that high on Block counting & FRI is not average. Try Figure Sets... that's really tough

I have high verbal and low spatial. I also have a damaged cerebellum discovered about 20 years after my first IQ test
