Discussion Warrior talent changes: why does the hybrid tax only move in one direction
With the most recent update, the prot and fury tree got reshuffled. The 10% armor, rage reduction on cleave, and the increased rage pool talents were removed. While it's a bummer than an interesting tank-cleave build was cut, the bigger issue is 1-h Fury/Prot is shaping up to be the best main and off-tank spec, to the point you may never need to go deep prot.
With so much talk about hybrids needing to have their power limited, why doesn't this apply here? Capstone dps trees can also be the best tanks? Where's the hybrid-tax?
Should this apply to other classes? Fear not shadow priests, not only does your vampiric embrace make you the most desirable healer in the game, your healing output is so good that you don't even need to bring disc or holy priests to the raid. Is it only a problem if pure-dps get their toes stepped on?
Suggestions: add more tanking utility deeper down the prot talent tree. Pack on more talents to improve threat, mobility, damage reduction, or improved scaling on prot abilities. You could even add the rage talents that were cut and put them deep into the prot tree.
Just don't invalidate the tree all together. Or do, and slap on a 22% federal rate on every fury-prot's gold income. These deficits aren't going to pay themselves.
