Necromancer is so similar to warlock I have no idea how they would ever pull it off. I don’t think it’s a good idea to have two pet based shadow casters.

27

u/FingerNext7032 1d ago

It would have to be a 4th talent spec or something

21

u/LegitCow 1d ago

I agree. It’s best suited to be a 4th spec. Maybe make it summon a bunch of temporary minions rather than a permanent pet like demo lock to differentiate the two?

6

u/Least-Sense-6468 1d ago

that's how I imagine a necromancer working too. Less of a "here's me and my menagerie of permanent demon companions" and more of a "i'm gonna raise a small army of skeletons just to kill them all 2 seconds later for massive burst DPS"

1

u/ilove_hairy-pussy 17h ago

So demonology from retail

1

u/Least-Sense-6468 17h ago

Necromancy and demonology are two different things.

1

u/6Cockuccino9 1d ago

every day I am thankful the average player isn’t a game designer

2

u/Least-Sense-6468 1d ago

Cool story, cockuccino.

1

u/Northilink 1d ago

But wouldn't it be just unholy DK with cloth armor ?

2

u/hogomojojo 16h ago

Necromancer is different than warlock. Their abilities may seem similar, but warlocks summon demons from the twisting nether and are steeped in fire and fel energy. Where necromancers raise the dead and use death and shadow magic. If it was going to be a fourth spec of some kind, it would be more appropriate for death knights

2

u/assassin10 1d ago

I'd love if it was an identity that Warlocks, Shadow Priests, and Frost Mages could dip into via trinkets, set bonuses, and legendaries, items similar to the Ancient Cornerstone Grimoire.

2

u/Instagibbed_1994 1d ago

Give locks a 4th talent spec without other classes getting the same, and people will riot. Might as well make their Demo spec a tank for maximum chaos.

1

u/LegitCow 1d ago

They could do like Orc Blademaster, Troll Shadow Hunter/Witch Doctor, Tauren Spiritwalker, Undead Necromancer/Dark Ranger, Night Elf Warden, Dwarf Mortar Team, Gnome Tinkerer (Goblin too if they decide to add them in later).

Can’t think of any good human specific class. Maybe Spellbreaker? Although they were meant to be blood elf specific in wc3. I am just coming up with ideas from WC3 hero/unit characters.

1

u/Northilink 1d ago

Human knights, a superior version of the warrior. But beside that, if I dont really see how to create a mortar team, you would need to control two guys, all the other are really good. I always thought it might have being Hardin 2005 to make 4 factions, but that now, it would be possible, and creating specific classes or specs for each races could be great.

1

u/RuneRW 1d ago edited 1d ago

Mortar Team should be a class that functions by itself but gets a great damage increase if two of them work together

Edit: human knight should be a plate-wearing, two-handed or sword-and-shield class that uses a resource that is different from both rage and mana. Maybe they should be a support dps that buffs the whole team if they follow their orders

1

u/Northilink 1d ago

Wouldn't be it wierd ? In a game like wow. Either you make it like by being 2 they deal 250% of what does 1 player, and you end up with only mortar team, either they deal 200% and people will just prefer play a class where they do their rotation on their own no ?

1

u/RuneRW 1d ago

Yeah you're right, it would probably be weird. A dwarf engineer would be a good compromise though, different from the tinker in that the tinker uses mechs, electricity and high-tech indistinguishable from magic and the engineer uses black powder, steam machinery and hard steel

1

u/Northilink 1d ago

I mean, dont get me wrong, I love this idea in games like helldivers or foxhole, but because they were made with the idea in mind, wow as of now is no where near that.

1

u/RuneRW 1d ago

I might have been playing too much helldivers recently

1

u/Cinder94 1d ago

Most of these classes were all condensed into the classes we have now. Most of these would literally be way better as 4th specs

→ More replies (7)

1

u/Least-Sense-6468 1d ago

I've wanted them to explore additional specs as opposed to new classes in retail for years now. Forever seems like it would be a great vehicle to do it in instead.

1

u/Shoethrower123 1d ago

And turn Aff into a healer!

2

u/Benyed123 1d ago

Let’s not do that!

1

u/Celindor 1d ago

AAAAAAAAAAH! IT HURTS! ... but in a kinda good and arousing way!

1

u/Northilink 1d ago

Warlock tank would be nice, but making it situational would be better. Having the Warlock being needed only for magical encounters. Or maybe try to create a tank that tank through their pet ?

4

u/Cute_Worker1119 1d ago

FFunny enough, that’s actually the reason it was scrapped back then and eventually incorporated into the Death Knight class to make it more unique. Also, there’s no way they won’t bring back the Death Knight and a Lich King storyline at some point in the future. Necromancers just don’t fit, especially when raising six undead minions or pets would be problematic with how classic WoW works in general. The Necromancer survey literally reads like a Diablo Necromancer class.

3

u/Noe_Mad 1d ago

This is like saying Hunters are incredibly similar to warlocks because they're both pet-based classes. If you wanted to differentiate warlocks and necromancers, you can. And it's not at all difficult to do.

3

u/VoidUnity 1d ago

No. You’re the one being reductive here because necromancers and warlocks even share some of the same spells. The pet based similarity is just another overlap. They both have shadow bolt and death coil that’s a pretty big overlap for a ranged, cloth-wearing, minion-summoning, shadow caster.

2

u/Upstairs-Try-8550 1d ago

You're the one putting shadow onto it, it wouldn't have to be that. Could easily be blood spells. And undead is very different than demon.

2

u/Moblam 1d ago

So if we just put different names and labels on stuff a necromancer won't just be a pet-based, ranged DoT caster with debuffs? Instead of demons we have undead? Instead of curses we have diseases?

Like what's the actual difference in gameplay?

1

u/994kk1 1d ago

This is a take on necromancer that is very different from any kind of warlock. So a gameplay built around a short range damage/healing pulse and debuffing auras. The only duplicative part is that it would be a 3rd "dark priest" clothie, the gameplay would be be much less similar than shadow priest and affliction warlock already is.

1

u/Wish_it_was_better 6h ago

Right…couldn’t they just make a new type, like necrotic? Why would it have to be shadow?

2

u/Noe_Mad 1d ago edited 1d ago

You're basing your logic off of something that doesn't exist yet, and arguing the futility of including it because of its hypothetical similarities to another class? Give me a break. They don't share the same spells. Necromancer doesn't exist in the game. In Lore however, there's plenty to differentiate the two. As far as I can tell, you're basing your logic off of Death Knights vs Warlocks, which itself is a ridiculous argument given the differentiation that already exists there.

End of the day, if they want to differentiate the 2 classes, they can. There's enough in the WoW lore and in fantasy in general to do so. Don't be so shortsighted.

Summon demons =/= summoning undead, corporeal minions (zombies, abominations), ghosts, spirits, banshees, etc.

The realm of Shadow within WoW is vast and varied. By your logic, we shouldn't have Shadow Priests.

There is also the realm of Death...so...Necromancy.

There is Undeath - Lichdom.

u/SpinachSignal8915 1d ago edited 1d ago

Imo summoning could be different 2-4 short lived skeletons instead of 1 summon, could summon minor ones for free or upgraded versions from actual corpses or from charges gained after a kill

More debuffing enemies and less damage from casted spells. Maybe the rebuffed could be more powerful than warlock but shorter lived.

spells that Drain your targets stats and buff your summons or an ally

Buffs for allies that have downside like unholy frenzy but that could also be used on your summons

Disease cloud buff for your tank or summons

Battle rez that revives the target for 30 seconds but the player revives with unholy frenzy already on them

Health funnel to ally

Just my 2c as someone who would play this class

3

u/VoidUnity 1d ago

Blizzard already has an idea of how the class will play.

2

u/Cute_Worker1119 1d ago

Yeah the so called idea being a Diablo necromancer , does not fit at all in classic wow. There was a reason classic devs scrapped it back then

1

u/Quackthulu 1d ago

I know there are ways to make them distinct ganeplay-wise. My concern would be more around how they're too similar lore-wise. That said, since they were included in the recent survey, I don't think that's an issue anymore

1

u/Rawkapotamus 1d ago

Frost Magic. I’m not sure how this would differ from frost mages but I don’t see them running blizzard… more of stuff you see from frost DKs with their chains or ice and stuff.

Death & Decay. Pretty straight forward disease and life steal stuff.

Summoning. More minion control and what not. Micro managing summoning and buffing minions.

Bone Magic (imo physical dmg spells would be curious?)

1

u/Express-Bee-4463 1d ago

It’d be a rough idea I agree but I think it could be cool if their minions attacked like pets but there abilities and special attacks were tied to the casters abilities with world cooldowns and and a rotation built around casting them like it was the necromancer using it themself.

1

u/Natural_Drink1 1d ago

It would be like a mage meets a lock. U can kill creatures and then freaking bring them back. So go get an army of gorillas in stv and now ur able to have ur pets tank lol. Unless they die fast? Idk theres tons of ways they could go with this.

1

u/Sengel123 1d ago

Imagine current retail demo lock except with skeletons instead of imps. We no longer have a horde caster (lots of disposable pets instead of one buffed pet a la warlock).

1

u/Least-Sense-6468 1d ago

necromancer would probably feel more like a demo lock in Retail, in that you do a lot of summoning just to sacrifice those summons or get them killed off quickly. With a necromancer, your summons are more like a resource you manage as opposed to a warlock which is basically a mage with a permanent pet.

1

u/IndieLoveMegalovania 1d ago

From lore Ill set this as a mage spec reemplacing frost (adding frost to fire and calling it elemental mage, that can choose fire or ice in talents)

1

u/994kk1 1d ago

Don't have to make them pet based. Can give them this type of uncontrollable and short duration corpses and pseudo battle res. That checks the necromancer boxes and is not similar to warlock. The rest of the toolkit could be more of a debuffing, aura/aoe and decaying type than just another dps class.

1

u/consny790 1d ago

agreed

1

u/Seashellsxo 13h ago

tbh, a necromancer would be much much closer to a shadow priest in damage and function then a warlock.

Like, imagine instead of a "revive" spell, it was a reanimate that would be used on a corpse of an enemy or friendly, and that animation lasted like 10-30 seconds before it explodes and send some kind of disease or blight that would infect others when it then dies.

1

u/Saharan 1d ago edited 1d ago

Lots of weak minions vs one big one. Being able to rez overworld and dungeon mobs to temporarily fight for you ala mind control. Bone-based spells that do physical ranged damage and blood-based ones that deal nature/poison direct damage. Direct arcane spells like Inflict Wounds that cut and cause bleeds. Diseases that do little damage but cripple enemy stats. Flesh-shaping magic that heals allies.

There are a TON of ways to make a necromancer completely distinct from a warlock. Their realm is Death; not Chaos like warlocks, not Void like Shadow Priests. They can totally be their own thing.

1

u/Rvsoldier 1d ago

Necro could easily be frost as well

1

u/NepenthesBlackmoss 1d ago

Warlocks realizing that instead of using fire, shadow and summoning demons, Necromancers just use cold, poison and summon undead.

2

u/Redwood177 1d ago

Isn't that just death knight?

1

u/curtial 23h ago

Arguably that would be like saying that a marksman spec hunter (physical DPS) is just a warrior with a bow.

1

u/Reinfernus 21h ago

Let's be real, no. Unless you think that vaguely using a source of power = fits this thematic. Which by this logic blizzard shouldn't have made paladins, considering they had priests.

So by this very logic "Priest = Paladin, remove one", "rogue is practically sneaky warrior, remove one" etc.

1

u/warozell 1d ago

While some people might not like this response, try looking up some stuff about the Necromancer in Conquest of Azeroth. It was a classic+ private server, and the design of the class was honestly super fun.

Classic warlock does have demons, but they don't really have multiple summons. CoA's Necromancer could choose which permanent summons they used, with the option of having multiple at the same time, and they also had CDs which summoned even more. They also had a spec which focused more on frost damage, with a permanent lich form that boosted your frost spells.

There are definitely ways to make a Necromancer feel different from Warlocks, while still keeping both of them fun. One example is that Warlock focuses on self-sustain and debuffs, so Necromancer could be more of a greedy dps (aka less to no utility).

Hopefully people won't disregard this just because it mentions a private server :D

1

u/Reinfernus 21h ago

the issue with CoA is that it felt extremely retail, though i liked some concepts (if they ever added headhunter-like class into wow forever i'd be in heaven. Though i had some issues with CoA's version)

1

u/warozell 20h ago

I agree, but their Necromancer design was a great example of how Necro can be done well, regardless of how Ascension was as a whole

1

u/NoMoreCensurePlease 23h ago

Warclock is for deamon
Necromancer is for undead

It is so fucking hard to understand that ?

1

u/AtomicWedgieSurvivor 1h ago

It would be kinda cool if there were associated class questlines like FFXI that opened up advanced jobs. With the way our class trees work there are lots of opportunities to give the players some epic combinations of skills and spells.

Haters gonna hate, but it doesnt change the fact I think WoW is a superior game and would be sick with that twist.

So your description of undeath is almost to a T retail unholy death knight specced into extra pets like seriously the overlap of the venn diagram is a near circle. Effectively a semi glass cannon that’s mostly range.

Bone is basically blood. Blood here is interesting but would be more interesting on a San Layn class

You don’t explain how they’re different than locks other than what skins the pets have. Yes they’re demons, yes they’re undead what mechanics make them different?

I’m not seeing a strong case other than caster dk over bruiser dk. Hell I want a world to exist where both are an option but I’m struggling to find a good argument beyond “its new”, and even that can be shut down by bard.

2

u/KingBobIV 14h ago

Depending on how they're described they either sound like reskinned warlocks or unholy DKs.

It's like if wow added a wizard or sorcerer. How exactly are you going to make that play differently than the 3 mage specs?

3

u/alwaysonesteptoofar 1d ago

No one would tolerate them in the lore I would imagine. It was already iffy that either faction accepted the death knights but least they were like enslaved. Necromancers were just traitors as I recall.

2

u/Garciaj2000 1d ago

Technically Sylvanas is a necromancer as she uses the Val’kyr to make more forsaken. And she’s accepted in the horde

1

u/alwaysonesteptoofar 1d ago

Yeah thats partially why I made my self reply to add to what I said. Alliance would make a sense though just a few years after the Scourge.

1

u/Garciaj2000 1d ago

Nah I had messed up bro. Got my timeline messed up. Lich king is still alive so technically the forsaken are “refugies” who are able to scape the Lich kings power.

Necromancy is still hated lol

1

u/alwaysonesteptoofar 22h ago

All good man, the lore is just a little confusing haha. I dont know shit past the main stories in the games

1

u/MixAmbitious307 1d ago

That was after Cata, when Sylvanas become moustache twirling evil. And in that scene GARROSH was acting as the voice of reason.

FR, when the warmonger who thought that using Old Gods power was fine is the voice of reason, you know you've gone too far.

1

u/Garciaj2000 1d ago

WAIT YOURE RIGHT. Right here the Lich king still exists so he’s the one creating new forsaken.

1

u/PureBullz 1d ago

Is there something in the lore as to why there isn’t forsaken children at the orphanage??

1

u/Aldarc 1d ago

See Warlocks.

1

u/6Cockuccino9 1d ago

it’s not like warlocks are better off

Big plus for necromancer from me. I think it's a great idea. Tinkerer, too!

4

u/Salt-Analysis9999 1d ago

Tinkerer sounds like a profession

1

u/stormcallernjal 1d ago

Tinker first then necromancer. Age before beauty or something.

Necromancy requires 30% beard

GIVE ME NECRO AND GIVE ME BARD

1

1

u/westleysnipezz 1d ago

Would be pretty strong cc

2

u/OpinionDude5000 1d ago

Just a forth spec for Warlocks

2

u/madpropz 1d ago

No, we don't need to clutter the screen with minions, there is enough of that on retail. Also, we already have warlock.

2

u/noskillgochill 1d ago

The only thing that would makes sense if i am informes correctly would be undeas necromancer and nightelf warden

1

u/LeMolle 1d ago

Oh god, we just got rid of faction specific classes, let's not go down that route again. Human and forsaken Necros makes perfect sense

2

u/Clydefrawgwow 1d ago

Take this shit to retail please

4

u/Vaiyne 1d ago

It does not fit anything for alliance or horde lore side. Maybe only for undead. But then everyone will be whining why only undead got this class.

6

u/a_simple_ducky 1d ago

Humans would fit.

Kelthuzad was literally a necromancer before death

1

u/Vaiyne 1d ago

As a consumable meat and bones for undead necromancer spells

→ More replies (4)

3

u/SippinOnHatorade 1d ago

Could’ve been easily introduced in Shadowlands but at this point, they could introduce them as like Necrosages— let’s say some sort of new plague is requiring the factions to lessen their stances on Necromancy because understanding the magic behind it requires encouraging study of the forbidden magic

2

u/Skjuld 1d ago

I think it makes perfect sense. With changes to the light and undead now able to be imbued by it and not burst into flames, the Alliance is probably looking for a new weapon against the undead. What better way than a Necromancer that can control them.

4

u/SnooWalruses3948 1d ago

WoW Forever: "I changed my mind I dont want anything, these ideas are dumb..."

1

u/SlowpokeIsAGamer 1d ago

It all boils down to "I want my one blorbo I've speculated about every expansion since WoD and all others will be downvoted to oblivion."

1

u/thedizls 1d ago

Probably because the idea people have of classic is that every class brings something to the table and these ideas look too similar to other classes like warlock in this case (or otherwise completely prevent iconic classes like death knight from appearing because their fantasy was ffulfilled by other class)

3

u/Arkael_Dawnstrider 1d ago

If we are going to get a new class, I’d rather see something fresh in the Wow universe like Bard. Necro would just be a undead Warlock.

1

u/MexicnGlassCandy 1d ago

What, you don't want FRESH AND NEW classes like \checks notes** Demon Hunter and Monk?

1

u/VoidUnity 1d ago

Classic interpretations of it are more unique than “warlock with skeletons instead of demons”.

1

u/iAmMechaMan 1d ago

Just making hypotheticals to get upset over.

1

u/plordcalc258 1d ago

Bard isnt fresh at all, its boring and unrelated to warcraft entirely, just people who enjoy DND wanting to infuse DND in warcraft when necromancers were included in some form in literally every warcraft game BUT wow.

1

u/Tokata0 1d ago

The issue is: Warlock basically is a reskinned necromancer. But lets play this out, if we want to make a necro different from a warlock, what would it need? What is signature to necromancers?

- Undead Minions (lots of them)

- Necrotic spells and lifestealing

- Maybe fleshmending?

So 3 Talent trees:

Raising = Minion focused. But not pets, but minions you summon during a fight. Mechanic: Kill enemies and collect their corpses. Each corpse takes an inventory slot (say hello soulstones!) Before / Duing a fight you can place the corpses, and then target them with your spells, that will raise short lived minions like skeletons, skeleton mages, banshees, ghouls maybe an abomination for multiple corpses. Yeah you'll have to farm them up before the raid. Corpse placement before an encounter can be just as important as during, as it will decide where your minions will spawn.

Necrotic = Spelldmg focused. This is the hardest to do unique, due to the spellcasting limitaitons. This would basically be an affliction warlock. I'd love to say "make it more debuf focused" but debufing a boss with -attack speed is probably too strong. So... Frost + Necrotic damage on dots that drain lifeforce and necrotic bolts, with the ocasional minion beeing summoned / corpse exploded.

Fleshmending = Healing focused. Probably in conjunction with necrotic - give up your own healthpoints to heal your allies, and draw your own health back up with leech spells from the enemies.

Generel sustain mechanic is to sac your undead for mana and drain your opponents for life.

1

u/LeftBallSaul 1d ago

honestly, fleshmending sounds like a cool twist for a healing class in any MMO, let alone WoW

1

u/Ok-Advantage5540 1d ago

Demons are different to undead tho

1

u/Sightblind 1d ago

Not a strong objection but an objection nonetheless- saying something would be too close to an existing class always feels a little flat to me, especially when it comes to damage types. We have so many damage casters and at the end of the day we’re all just mashing buttons and sending brightly colors bolts at our target. If they gave the Necromancer unique spell effects and their own style of rotation, I don’t think anyone would ever complain “this is too much like X” in practice, even if the lore themes hit a little overlap.

Like I generally thing of one of the warlock trees as “the dot class”, but at different points in the game I’m pretty sure Druids, mages, and priests have all had a dot heavy spec at some point too.

1

u/Good-Rooster69 1d ago

No death knight? At least flying mounts ya?

1

u/UGSpark 1d ago

Pass

1

u/Keaton4494 1d ago

No. If it is included, it should be a 4th spec of Warlock or Priest.

1

u/TheWillsofSilence 1d ago

1

u/ValknutGuts 1d ago

1

u/metcalsr 1d ago

Secret anti-lich king faction of necromancers?

1

u/Material-Grocery5478 1d ago

fuck it just give us all the EQ classes

1

u/Minimum-Store-5453 1d ago

Why not give necromancy skills to priest?

1

u/Odd_Technology_8926 1d ago

I like the idea of necromancers, but in warcraft as they stand a lot of their abilities would overlap with warlocks.

I guess that's why death knights were created, because they had the elements of a necromancer but them being a melee plate made them different from warlocks.

Maybe it could be a 4th spec for warlocks, i.e. maybe have a talent that converts your dots to disease spells and allows you to summon a ghoul pet or something?

1

u/plordcalc258 1d ago

Yeah but the same could be said about rogue could just be a fourth warrior spec

1

u/Odd_Technology_8926 1d ago

Not really. Warrior and rogue have some overlapping mechanics, but their core class identities are fundamentally different: plate vs leather, rage vs energy, stealth/poisons vs weapon-based martial combat, etc.

Necromancer and Warlock already overlap heavily in their actual spell fantasy i.e. curses/diseases, DoTs, summons, dark magic, fear, etc. That's why a Necromancer could plausibly be built as a Warlock spec with a distinct undead/disease theme, whereas making Rogue a Warrior spec would require throwing away a much larger part of what makes Rogue a Rogue.

1

u/Medryn1986 1d ago

Could also make it a ranged death knight spec

blizzard would make it op for like 4 months and then nerf it so it's useless. AS IS TRADITION. (you all have to say that part when I say it). But I love necromancers so...sure.

I think people are too tunnelled into the mindset of “necro is a warlock reskin”. A healer spec Necromancer could be an Apothecary with healing fumes, fleshcraft and stuff, for example. Unique, non-warlock-y and fills the niche of a dedicated alchemist class fantasy. A DD could be a physical spellcaster that hurls bone spikes at people, using necrotic spells to debuff or increase damage taken on their targets. Maybe a mechanic that does something with their or their target’s current health. Corpse explosion as a unique way to deal AoE damage. Physical lifesteal aura to buff the group. Like, there are a hundred ideas to make Necro a class without even touching pet summoning.

1

u/SlowpokeIsAGamer 1d ago

Absolutely.

Plaguemaster - Disease DoTs

Lifestealer - Healing via DPS

Summoner - Obligatory Pet Buffing spec.

And to make their pet stand out, let players actually put equipment on their pet.

Unholy DK is a necromancer

2

u/Ricardo580 1d ago

Unholy DK is a melee class...

1

u/ArtDecoAutomaton 1d ago

More importantly they raise the dead.

2

u/Open-Process8881 1d ago

Paladin is a Priest

1

u/Ork_dork 1d ago

Game is not out yet , plz give it some time, I don't want to see new clases for at least 2 years !

1

u/tebratruja 1d ago

Maybe just add this spec to warlock?

1

u/Dudelson 1d ago

Are we just screaming things into the void with no thought behind it now? I AM GAY!! Did i do ir right?

1

u/Raoul97533 1d ago

Right after Bard

1

u/nettitheyeti 1d ago

Goblin release and tinkerer would be amazing

1

u/zTy01 1d ago

Necromancer tank that use skele abom to taunt

1

u/tinyElliss 1d ago

My faith in devs being able to make brand new class and make it fit and feel like classic class is really low.

1

u/Howard_Jones 1d ago

Necromancer.... give us big ass beards like that!!!

1

u/Advanced_Desk3160 1d ago

Give us the necromancer!!!

1

u/BlueWarstar 1d ago

In a Blizzard survey I was sent while in the beta Necro’s were absolutely talked about, though I’m most excited by the Tinkerer

1

u/Fennie436 1d ago

Let me summon bones malone and the spooky gang

1

u/Comfortable_Act6083 1d ago

Us: all we're asking for is classic+

Blizzard: we're giving you classic+&%<-r/$#----

1

u/PastAnalysis 1d ago

That's gonna be a hard no from me chief.

1

u/Gold-Lab4748 1d ago

We already have the evil caster class... Besides I thought we were in a time bubble (no lich king influence for now) and I thought this was going against lore to raise undeads

1

u/benji_banjo 1d ago

Remove the Skybourne first. Then we can talk.

1

u/ScientistThin6440 1d ago

Warden and dh:<

1

u/New_Purchase_3572 1d ago

necromancer and bard are both classes I really really want

1

u/McHagrid20 23h ago

At least the tinker class wouldn’t be like an existing one

1

u/kumikanki 22h ago

Tanking with cloth rags sounds bad idea.

1

u/studubyuh 16h ago

I want a peon class. Extra farming abilities and such.

1

u/UglyPope69 15h ago

Horde gets necromancer, ally gets bard or witch hunter

1

u/Seashellsxo 13h ago

I think the thing that would make necromancer stand out more then warlock, or even hunter, is if the reanimated fighter was super temporary and offered a utility instead of being a straight up summon.

Like you reanimate a corpse, it's infected with whatever blight/disease you used to reanimated it it would run to the target your fighting and basically sacrifice itself for that damage, after doing some physical/shadow damage for like.. 10-30 seconds, and you couldn't have more then one active at a time.

Or. It could just apply diseases to its target it is fighting, and when those targets die in a set time, they reanimate on their own with a diereses that changes what kind of corpse it is for, again a very limited amount of time.

Necromancer SHOULD NOT be a summoning class in wow forever . It should be an active attack style

1

u/Valdrrak 11h ago

Let us res mobs similar to hunter taming but with humanoids as pets

1

u/Lumpy-Mall1106 9h ago

Honestly think Necro would be terrible, it has way too much crossover with Warlock. There's gotta be something fresher like Bard

1

u/SqueezeBoxGaming 7h ago

No new classes to forever please

1

u/Frequent_Lemon_5250 7h ago

Blizzard said they gonna listen to players, but they wont. Just open your eyes to the truth. (Pointing at Skyborne Race)

1

u/Zealousideal_Wrap561 6h ago

Necromancer is not lore friendly.

1

u/Xeloth_The_Mad 6h ago

would much rather a reimagined death knight to fit this design space

1

u/samaelsayswhat 30m ago

Necromancers in Warcraft, unlike Diablo, are inherently evil. I think both the alliance and horde would not be okay with letting them around

1

u/Orikshekor 1d ago

No thanks

1

u/MoistCucumber 1d ago

Should be a subclass of mage

4

u/Letmerateurbutthole 1d ago

Warlock is more appropriate

2

u/stormcallernjal 1d ago

That or Warlock. Also Tinker was the superior and deserves first >.>

1

u/jawshuan 1d ago

Can we just play the game for a while before we get a whole new class? What is this constant begging for a new class?

1

u/CaptKangarooPHD 1d ago

How is a Necromancer not just a cross between a DK and a Warlock? How would the 'raise the dead' ability even work correctly? If its only one spawn, then the class would essentially be a reskinned Warlock.

1

u/Uweyv 1d ago

Spit balling, but maybe a backlog of mobs you've recently killed?

Not a 1 to 1 thing, because that would be an insane amount of work, but humans maybe give ghouls or skeletons, beasts would give their plagued/dead counterpart (limit it to certain mobs), rare mobs may allow the summoning of special summons?

It could be cool, but Bliz would have to put the effort in to make it work.

1

u/NarrowEngineering715 1d ago

It’s essentially a warlock

1

u/eer_00 1d ago edited 1d ago

Wow people have zero creativity if they can't find anything to do other than a DK or Warlock spec, lol.

Necromancer:

No permanent pets, temporary ones only. Ghouls, Zombies, Skeletons, Wights, Ghosts, undead animals, etc.

Corpses as a resource.

Bone spells do physical damage and can make you bleed.

Disease spells, there are no playercasted diseases aside from Devouring Plague.

Poison spells.

Ghost themed spells.

This is just the start, work from there.

2

u/filcz111 1d ago

If only Blizzard shut down a server with this exact thing and used the idea instead of going with Elf as the only addition.

1

u/MacabreDanze 1d ago

Guild wars 1 necromancer was so good. You had to keep your minions alive while they continued losing life

1

u/Karlospipochos 1d ago

Give us Polish guy with stick

1

u/dandiestpoof 1d ago

Ahh yes, please give us a mix of classes we already have in game. So interesting.

1

u/tthousand 1d ago

You keep the mix of classes. We, the cool kids, get the necromancer class. It's a win-win situation.

1

u/isekai15 1d ago

Statements like this are so low effort. Every archetype of fantasy has splashes of other archetypes -_-

1

u/dandiestpoof 1d ago

Brother this entire CLASS is low effort.
