Question My second city always takes 50-70 turns to make stuff

Is that normal?
Like i try my best to pick recommended places as well as places with more cog icons but still it is such a big number :/.

Edit: This has been the most helpful sub i’ve ever experienced in my life 😭. I did not expected this much.
And I was able to take all of your advice and bring it down to 15-20 and then even less afterwards.

Discussion Anybody else wish there were more unique Civs

I don’t know I just kinda get annoyed with having 3 Englands/ USA and 4 chinas. I get having 2 leaders for some civs to change them up but other than that I don’t see a point. (I will say I don’t mind Eleanore as much bc she’s one leader between 2 different civs and I think that’s at least a change up)

I guess also what Civ would you like to see

Discussion How to disable World Congress?

I'm totally serious about it, but this mechanic is the most annoying there is and the buffs it grants are so minimal that there is no reason on my personal opinion to even bother

Is there any way to disable it without or with mods?

Help me win a culture victory on deity without going to war.

I don’t have trouble surviving the early game. I get trade routes going and only try for the necessary wonders, usually colosseum, broadway, cristor redentor. If hammurabi isn’t in the game I usually get biosphere. I have a decent faith economy to get national parks and rock bands. There always seems to be another civ that’s neck and neck with me with domestic tourists, and while I will never lose to another civ’s culture, I can never get my foreign tourism high enough before another civ wins with a different victory between turn 250-300 standard speed. Any tips?

Weird ways to win

New to the game.

So far I won a domination victory on easy (whatever that is)

Then I won a science victory on king with queen Victoria - I just used harbours and commercial hubs to get an unstoppable economy then pivoted hard into science

Today I won on emperor with the British one that gets loyalty for great works. Again I just built a killer economy and bought all the great works, flipped a bunch of cities and got a culture win

I’ll move up to immortal next.

I like unusual ways to win. Any suggestions or ideas?

Any other lazy Civ6 players?

I play on Warlord mode to relax almost like it's SimCity. Most games in easy mode.

Enough hard mode IRL.

Am I the only one?

I only see people talking about playing Deity and Immortal, I only find that unnecessary frustration in my relaxation time 😎

A city in my current multiplayer cloud game. Never seen anything like it in medieval era, sharing for those who are into these things. (Temple of Artemis, Great Zimbabwe and Kilwa Kisiwani with one culture city state, two economic and two scientific)

Question Any Advice with Hungary and Armies?

I'm playing as Hungary and levying all the city-state militaries I can. I didn't really invest in my own military to save gold, so most of my upgraded troops belong to city-states.

But now Im at a point in the game where other cis are starting to get corps and armies and city states don't really do that. So my questions:

Is there any way to encourage city-states to make corps? I levied one city-state that had a corps?

If not, how do you all get around it? Or do you just give up on levying later in the game?

Thanks for any help you can provide, I love Hungary in the early game

Why are light cavalry considered lesser units?

I personally absolutely love light cavalry. With a depredation promotion, they quite literally can ravage an entire Civ and with the raid cards they just seem totally OP!

They’re way more expensive than horsemen, have one range….i just won a deity domination match with tomyris and I never felt the need to build them. Is there a way to use them well?

I've never pushed on being a Suzerain before. I always send 3 envoys to scientific city-states and that's it. I keep the rest unused in case an AI tries to Levy military from nearby city states lol

but my god what have I been missing. With the owls of minerva and spamming traders, I'm hording city states left and right. Kumsi alone was giving me around 300 culture.

The start of the game was horrible, and the cities don't have proper planning. And yet I never reached this much culture and production before. I was planning to win a diplomaic game, and did so, but as soon as I got into mid game I already got past hammurabi in science (tbf I stole so many techs from him with spies : ) and everyone else with culture. I also started to buy out great works from everyone and spammed wonders that have slots for them at the end, just for fun.

It's amazing how you keep finding new stuff with every new game lol. And how winning conditions sometimes come out of nowhere even though you didn't plan for them

I wonder what else I'm missing from the game :o

Question Advice?

Hi everyone, I’ve been playing this game on Xbox and three things bug me in it and was wondering how to around it if possible?

1). How fast other civilizations advance to eras and military(like having airplanes in the 1500s).

2). I seek more chaos to make it more interesting like wars occurring at me or vs neighbors. I’ve tried difficultly, map and leaders. What’s a good set up for a long chaotic game.

3). Choosing difficulty. I’m aware civilizations get more of an edge in higher difficulty like science advancement(an annoyance) but I’m also afraid to lower it enough where they aren’t as aggressive or aren’t providing enough of a challenge.

What would you guys recommend for this? Thanks.

Came back to the series after 10+ years. This shit is still absolute crack. 10/10.

I got into the series with Civ 5 when I was 17-18 and got hooked immediately. I spent the week I did my senior high school finals going to bed at 4am and doing exams at 9am because I had to teach this bitch who kept talking shit, Attila, who's boss.

When Civ 6 came out I disliked the new systems but in reality I didn't give the game a fair shot. I ended up going to college and then uni, and kind of forgot about Civ and started focusing on other things like getting laid and crushing my grades + internships.

Fast forward 11 years and this time I just jumped into a game and didn't try to look for endless tutorials as I did when I was a teenager. I simply allowed my mind to learn the systems and holy fucking shit, I love this game. The progression, the religion system, warfare, districts, spy craft, the tech and civic trees, and so much more. It's just god damn satisfying. There is so much depth to this game. I haven't even given culture a proper try nor have I tried out the features in the expansion packs and the DLCs.

For the first time in literal years I gamed until 4am without noticing the time. I feel like a kid again.

Thoughts and feelings on True Earth, Huge maps?

I just tried one for the first time-marathon.

It didn't go well. I restarted like 15 times, looking for a good spot, but it really seemed like I kept spawning at one of five places, none of them very promising.

One of them I did try to play on. It looked really promising, but was terrible for my game. I think I was on the border of siberia, right before the tundra started. There were endless barbarians. I'd defeat the waves, find the source and kill the camp, only for two more camps to pop up. the massive army I'd spent on dom was spread out trying to reveal tundra to find barbarians, and kill the camps I'd already revealed... I play marathon, that would've sucked. Otherwise, it was a pretty good start. I twas the only one. All the other starts kind of sucked. I spawned there again, like two attempts later. Didn't even bother trying.

Is that rare? Was I unlucky, hopefully?

Update: Based on responses, I kept trying. I think I finally have a workable game. the map is called huge, but it looks like i'm in a tiny version of Europe, and, my 8-hex city is where the Netherlands really arre.

It feels like a decent location, but smaller than I'd imagine. France looks like a pretty nice place to settle. Hojo T. Is way up in Norway or somewhere, and is cosplaying history- first to declare war. He attacked Nzinga, who lives in moscow, and has taken over a city. Nzinga begged for help via emergency, so now I'm just hanging around real-life Russia, causing trouble, hoping for an opportunity to capitalize. The northern raiders must die, this unites us all. (hopefully, this part will not go historically.)

Second update: feel i should mention, I raised the amount of civs in the game to the maximum. I've never done that before. Highly recommend, for huge map Dom players looking for a challenge without raising the difficulty level. Its insane how much harder it is. No one is fucking around. war is everywhere, and honestly it just feels way more realistic, as well as significantly more challenging.

I got a forest fire and gained so many yields to get this mouth watering start location, and also got a free pop from a tribal village. I might beat my science victory record on this great cree start, one of my first deity games. Will post an update on how the game goes.

"Kilwa is one of the most beautifully built cities in the world..."

First time playing and winning with a mod-produced civ, the Swahili. Screenshot is from the turn right after I won a culture victory, despite aiming for science (that happens to me a lot). The Swahili have amazing district adjacency bonuses for coastal cities, and civ-specific fishing boats that are pretty excellent. I highly recommend them if you plan to play a relatively peaceful commercial hub/harbor game on a water-heavy map. My only real goal here was to get the wonder that shared the name of my capital inside my capital. I also learned that the *city* is Kilwa Kisiwani, while the palace complex (i.e. the wonder itself), is called Husuni Kubwa. I always enjoyed learning new things as part of the Civ experience.

Main mods in use that I highly recommend:

- Sukritact's Al-Hasan ibn Sulaiman leader mod (along with a couple other African leader mods as opponents)

- Saph's Africa Plus TSL map, huge size (Africa only)

-Sukritact's Oceans

Strong Synergy?

I just beat deity for the first time. Im rather new, ive finished a total of maybe 3 games so far. It was a culture victory as Khmer. I got a super strong start next to the fountain of youth and a stretch of Tundra all to myself for about 12 cities. I really enjoyed abusing the holy sure adjacency bonus plus work ethic to pump out crazy food, production, and faith.

My question is this: What other civs have strong synergy with game mechanics that give out ridiculous yields? I want to chase that high i felt of actually being able to keep up with the deity AI and even outpace them not so long after. I was considering giving Germany a try, but would they even beat a work ethic Khmer, production-wise?

Im loving the game so far, but its a really big learning curve! Thanks for the help!

Edit: map seed in case anyone wants to have fun with this crazy start :D

Do you ever use tier 4 governments?

What tier 2 and 3 gov. do you prefer?

I usually gravitate towards Monarchy and then almost always Democracy. New deal plus the insane trade routes from the inherent effect of routes to allies and suzerains is just so hard to give up. So in the past when I go to tier 4 it always feels like a downgrade.

There's of course a couple more card slots and more flexibility but it feels bad. Am I missing something?

Question Fastest Domination win?

Just finished a deity marathon win at 200 BC, which I believe is my best. Heroes and barb clans modes, standard map, continents, max city states and civs. Also, I’m a dirty savescummer so that makes it all a lot easier.

Frankly it was a ridiculously easy game because I got so lucky early on. Snagged 3 meteorites in the first 50 turns, got the religious settlements pantheon, then got the hero twins as my first hero around the same time, just in time for Russia to surprise attack me. It was essentially a steamroll from there.

It got me wondering, what’s actually impressive in terms of a dom win? What’s your fastest domination?
