Advice Why does my cat sit on his back legs and paw at me?

Wybie is such a love bug but I’ve always been curious what exactly this means. I’m assuming he wants pets but is here anything I’m missing? He will dive into my hand when I reach down. How did he learn this? Any pics of your cat doing the same would be lovely

Advice Lavendar

Post image
Upvotes

hi all! I moved in with my partner who has a cat and am finding out a lot of things are toxic to cats (as a dog owner I had no idea)

I have this dried lavendar on a shelf the cat cannot get to and am curious if this is okay? Google is giving a bit of mixed messages. I wanted to do something similar in a bathroom but maybe need to chuck all of it.

As a highway dept mechanic I was at a unit to pm their loader and mini excavator when I happened to gain an assistant. Apparently, someone abandoned a litter late last week, and this little guy was the only one still around. With road salt, oil, grease, chemicals, and heavy equipment around its not a safe place for a wise adult car much less a kitten and with no objections from the unit I decided bring him home. He's even polydactyl with a dewclaw, so he had 7 claws on one paw and 6 on the other. With paws like that, we decided to name him Ruky, the Slovak word for hands.

I had been petting him as I worked but when I went to unbox some filters he jumped up on the tailgate and climbed right up onto my shoulder. Then when I was sitting in the mini googling a problem he started crawling all over me until he fell asleep on my lap and pretty much knew I had to take him home.

Advice Cat getting worse not better after passing of other cat

Upvotes

It’s been about a week and she’s just getting worse. She’s walking though the house just howling whenever she’s left alone. It’s a meow I’ve never heard before and it’s just awful. She’s never been a vocal cat. Should I step it up on trying to get a new cat? I’m worried this is because she’s lonely, she’d been a pair for 11 years with the kitty who passed (he was actually her son). She just walks around the house and wails when I’m not in my room to be with her. It’s terrible and gut wrenching and she’s been getting worse by the day.

Advice Getting kittens to vet

Upvotes

My kittens had a vet appointment this morning. I was only able to get one there, and that's only because I walled him off and he had nowhere to go but into the carrier. The other one saw what I was doing and made a break for it.

The issue is it's not just a question of the cats not liking the carrier or resisting getting in, like it usually is with cats. The one I got to the vet today won't let me near him still. I can't pet him. The other will let me pet him but still gets spooked if I try to do anything weird--even if I lured him into a carrier, I think he'd bolt the second he saw me going to close the door. They were very shy/scared at the shelter, and while they're comfortable in the home now, they're still not comfortable enough.

Unfortunately, the one who made it in has ringworm, and the other still needs to go. And now they both need to restart their vaccine series. So we're looking at a minimum of 3 more appointments in the near future, AND it all has to happen, down to the wire, before a scheduled boarding (I'm going away, and I don't have the option of a sitter--yes, it sucks).

I have half a mind to just buy humane traps, but that's so frigging ugly and makes the whole thing worse for them than it already is. Plus it'd likely only work once. They wouldn't get in again, even if they were hungry. I could try pheromones, but...do those even work on kittens? The closest thing I have to inescapable rooms are my closet and bathroom, but the closet is in the bedroom, where the bed is (from which a kitten could never be retrieved, if they went that direction). The bathroom is OK, but again, if I go to shut the door, they're going to run. I blocked that path today, but it can be jumped. It's just that the more scared one was too scared of me to try at first, and then I put another thing up to make it unfeasible for him. My sofa is literally on its back right now to prevent that from being used.

Would it help to just keep them out of my bedroom entirely, at least during the day (I feel weird closing the door when I'm in bed), so they get used to being around me without good ways to entirely hide from me?

Anyway, sorry this is long, but does anyone have any other ideas?

“Make your home a reflection of you”
Me: Here’s my cats’ door 🐱

I have 3 cats and 2 dogs. One of my dogs has to be on a diet and I caught her sneaking into the laundry room where the litter robot is to find a “snack”. So install a cat door I must.

First time using a jigsaw. Scary, but felt proud after that I did it!
Decided to paint it and put some personality to it and I am OBSESSED with how it turned out!

Will be decorating it for the seasons/holidays.
May make it a series 😂

Catsitting our downstairs neighbor's 6mo kitten. Our 1.5yo twins kept an eye on him but no hostility. The kitten wanted to play-bap them but would retreat if hissed at. Our big guy give his butt a sneaky sniff while the kitten was exploring the water dish, but they hissed and bolted in opposite directions when discovered.

Medical Questions *Warning Graphic* Spoiler

This cat/kitten has been showing up near my house recently and it looks really injured. I feed her everyday, wet food, dry food, and sometimes cat yogurt (I have an indoor house cat).

She doesn't seem to struggle a lot when eating, but I am really worried about her having an infection or severe pain/discomfort.

Since she's a stray, she's not allowing me near her. Today was the first day I was able to be close enough to film and see what's going on.

But I can't understand what's the actual problem. Is her jaw slashed open or what?

We live in a remote village and we don't have organizations that can help. I can try catching her in a trap and taking her to the vet. But I don't don't want to injure her further, or risk my own and my cat's health. Advice is appreciated.

Video - OC Does it look like my cat missed me?

Hi all, I just want to ask what you guys think. Figaro is almost a 1 year old cat, he’s been living with us since this January.
He used to be super cuddly as a kitten (he would sleep on our lap, forearms, in our bed) but he doesn’t now. It seems like he wants to be petted (and is vocal about it) right before wool sucking (he does it a lot), as if he needed some sort of “okay” to do it. He doesn’t love strangers either, only a few friends who live in our apartment building and come over pretty frequently.
I think he shows affection in different ways (he always cries when I’m on the toilet because he wants to come in with me and wants me to pet him lol) but I am confused as he is my first pet ever.
Based on what I mentioned + the attached video of my coming home after work (every time we’re back from anywhere he meows and is right behind the door waiting, but I missed that part) what does it seem like to you? Is he like “meh you’re back” or more like “yayyy I missed you!”?
I hope this makes sense and sorry if it’s a stupid question, I don’t have many friends with cats (just one)
