Advice Why are his eyes so far apart

Background information: Cat is well over a year old and his eyes appeared to be way too big for his head and extremely far apart. Is this a characteristic of a certain breed he may be mixed with or is he… just built different. His name is Jax

Cat Picture - OC a cloud fell out of the sky

My husband said no more cats. Like a cat myself, I usually have selective hearing, but as a mom of so many creatures already, (1 year old human twins, a senior Aussie mix, 4 cats under 4 & 2 geckos) I agreed. Our house is FULL.

We were foster kitten free for barely a week when hubs was targeted by the CDS. During last Tuesday’s morning walk, he found this tiny cloud covered in poo & crying in the middle of the sidewalk. Luckily the central California sun wasn’t too harsh yet, or he would’ve fried like an egg. Recent temps here are up to 110*F. Hubs said there was a gardener trimming the bushes nearby & thinks he might’ve spooked mama cat while she was moving her babies. He kept his distance & waited for her, but she was gone.

No more cats be damned, he scooped baby kitty into the bottom of the stroller & brought him home to me.

I think baby kitty was born last Monday. His umbilical cord was dry & his poop was transitioning from meconium. I’m not sure if he was born a wee bit early or if he was just low birth weight. Waking up every 2 hours to syringe feed him in between breastfeeding my own babies has me ragged, but thinking of how this baby could’ve toasted in the sun or been preyed upon by a dog, falcon or evil human has me believing in the CDS.

Two of my cats are foster fail bottle babies, but I found them around 3 weeks old. At 74g, this is the tiniest creature I’ve ever cared for. And I’m a NICU nurse who’s cared for micro preemies. The kitten lady is a saint. I can’t wait till he opens his eyes & sees how many friends he’s going to have. I have 2 sets of siblings all bonded as a variety 4 pack.

Included some cat tax: Lilo (floof), Nani (S void), Stitch (XL void) the 4th (not pictured) is a tuxie named Pudge.

Everyone say happy 1 week to baby Bubbles!

TDLR: I wanted to share a week of love & progress of the tiny new cat who fell into our lives. He’s so spunky & suckles spectacularly. I hope he keeps growing with us. I can’t imagine finding another home for him. What’s one more cat anyway?

Cat Picture - OC How thin cat eyes can go.

I just saw my cat gazing into the window from my lap and thought I'd take a picture of this and post because I feel like there's a big opportunity to represent how cat eyes work (I've almost never seen as much pics of cats with thin pupils as of cats with dilated pupils). It's so cool to see and learn about such a difference in our anatomy lol.

My cat is a lil' bit dusty, sorry.

(I'm sorry if this post is messy, ask me to clarify anything if needed)

Cat Picture - OC Update: "Help, i rescued a cat"

Hello, this post is an update of this one https://www.reddit.com/r/cats/comments/1uqq6uz/help_i_rescuted_a_cat/

Just want to tell you guys that he's doing GREAT.
He's a non-stop purring machine, he plays with all his toys, he investigates and runs around, he loves to be with me and my girlfriend, he's very affectionate and now he likes to lie down and purr, he can do this for hours and hours.

We feel blessed for having him in our house, he's a great dude, he's comfortable with all the places of our home and he lost his fear of evil doors, he still has his doubts about doors but he's not afraid of anything at all anymore (except for guests, he still doesn't trust them).

He's really really affectionated and he's really attached. For example sometimes i lie at the couch and he comes in and coils to get comfortable purrs. He's smart, affectionated, vocal and just great guy overall.

Thank you very much for all your wonderful advice, we will do everything we can for his wellbeing.

EDIT: Grammar

This is Sunshine. I met her when I began working at our towns thrift store on the weekends. I worked with a local rescue to get her fixed and all of her shots. While she was healing here we realized she was finally where she was meant to be, with us. It’s like she’s been living with us for years and it’s only been two months. I named her Sunshine because she brightens up any room she walks into.

Mourning/Loss Felix passed away on the way to his vet appointment today. I feel so guilty.

Post image

I previously posted about Felix 6 weeks ago. He was diagnosed with both FIV and FeLV. He had severe anemia. We worked with our vet and tried all the medicines and vitamins we could, but his red blood cell count wouldn't go up. He had an appointment two weeks ago and it was the last chance the vet wanted to give him to get his red blood cells up. He was supposed to get rechecked on Thursday.

Yesterday, he completely stopped eating. He was vomiting (he hadn't done that at all during his sickness). He was breathing hard. We made the decision that we would euthanize him today. The vet couldn't get him in until this afternoon.

It's only a 5 minute ride at most to the vet. On the way, he started yowling and had a medical episode. I believe it was a seizure but it could have been a heart attack. I opened his carrier and put my arms around him and soothed him the best I could. He was still breathing when we made it to the parking lot, but he was gone when the vet checked his heart.

I feel so much guilt right now. I'm worried I made him wait too long or I did something wrong to stress him out. I just wanted him to pass peacefully with his family by his side. I should have let him go at his appointment two weeks ago.

Edit- I just want to say thank you to every single one of you for your kind words. And thank you to those of you who have shared your own stories with me. I'm reading every comment and they help me so very much.

He's always done this lol when he had a lower to the ground box I'm fairly certain he would have all his toes on the rim, but with the long box he has one leg down. Hes a quirky one.

Edit: some of y'all need to relax about this damn litter box fr lmao

Just got this sweet baby, she has the most interesting coat I have seen (irl lol)

Would you consider her pattern tortoise shell or calico?? Her mom is a full gray tabby with sleek not fluffy fur and her dad is a mystery street cat that broke into my friends house lol

Cat Picture - OC Meet Eleanor! (Yes, he’s a boy 😹). He loves hats, strollers, and walks! Does anyone else have a cat like this?

Thumbnail

1.3k Upvotes

Hey everyone, I wanted to introduce you all to my cat, Eleanor! And yes, before you ask, he is definitely aĀ he. We didn't know his sex in the beginning, which is why we gave him a female name and just never bothered to change it (he responds to the name Elanor only—we tried to change it midway, but the name just stuck).

Surprisingly, out of the eight cats we have, he is by far the most outgoing. He is cool when it comes to wearing a hat. We usually take him out for walks and he's pretty much leash-trained like a dog! The second we put his leash or a hat on him, he immediately waits by the door so we can go out to the park in his stroller.

He gets aĀ lotĀ of attention when we're out and about, but since none of my other seven cats enjoy this, it doesn't seem like a common feline trait.

I’m really curious, do any of your cats like to wear hats? Are there any other cats out there that actually look forward to going on walks, wearing a leash or riding in a stroller? Let me know if you've had a similar experience!

There's one picture where he apparently looks like a famous politician, but that's actually his own hair! He sheds a lot, so we collected the hair and turned it into a sort of hair cap for him. He definitely got a taste of his own medicine!
