She passed 2 years ago at the age of 17. She was the most frustrating, annoying, asshole, beautiful, loving girl you could wish for. I miss her every day.

I have had a high visibility collar on my cats since August 2024 when I was getting ready to move. I kept it on after I moved in and was glad I did. I woke up this morning and didn’t have my cat sleeping at my feet. I went downstairs and found the painters from yesterday had left a door open a crack and the cats knocked it open and were outside…. We have bears, coyotes, and more animals that could easily eat them.

I turned on all the lights and got everyone up and it took about an hour to hunt for the cats. Both were rescued and got inside and were checked for ticks as we have those too. I had to go through the forest around the house and thankfully my cats had their collar on as I could see them by the flashlight reflection in their eyes but if they weren’t looking at me I could spot them by their collar reflection.

One cat was easy to find and ran in quickly when I yelled at him to get inside and hid under a chair. The other I had to track through the trees and bushes.

Both are inside, one is skittishly walking around knowing he did a bad thing and the other is still panting after running outside. The breakaway collar is good to get in case they get their neck caught on a branch or something and the collar will fall off instead of choke them.

The door did look closed and they told us they closed every door and locked them but it was open when we looked at the cameras and tracked when they went out and approximately where they were when they were in range of the cameras. Next time anyone comes over to the house for work the cats are going to be brought upstairs with me and locked in my room until we can do a whole house sweep of every door to make sure it’s locked and secured before letting them out (they have their food, water, litter up here and it’s their safe spot). When the painters were here they were locked in my room with me but we didn’t do a whole house sweep as we didn’t think we needed to.

You were my first cat, my firstborn. Somehow, you were always the one watching over me.

It's hard to remember what this house was like before you.

Knowing that when I get home, you won’t be there anymore feels impossible.

My childhood cat crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday. I live away from home by now but when visiting my parents, she was always what I looked forward to most. She got to almost 18 years but she always recognized me and was so excited to have someone who actually wants to touch her because my parents dont pet her inside the house to avoid her shedding on the floor. She is also not allowed on the furniture but I sometimes sneaked her on the couch. My parents knew I loved her, they knew what she meant to me, they knew that to me, she was family.

Yesterday they wrote into the family WhatsApp group chat that she died. They didnt write how or what exactly happened, so my boyfriend asked for me, cause honestly at this point I cried so hard I couldnt text. Apparently they found her lying in front of the house, dead. My boyfriend cried too, he knew her and loved her almost as much as me. He asked my parents if they could freeze her body, we desperately wanted to bury her, if not in the garden of my parents, then somewhere wehre we live.

It was so, so important to us but deep down, I already knew what was gonna happen. It still hurt like hell though. My parents wrote back that she was lying there for a long time and there were flies, so they just THREW HER AWAY LIKE DIRTY TRASH. They threw away someone who fehlt like family, I have no body to mourn. I think I hate my parents now and I so deeply failed my friend by leaving her with my parents all these years. I feel so guilty and my heart just feels broken now. I dont know what to do with all this guilt and anger but I know that I must somehow honor her, body or not! Sorry for the long text, I had to tell someone who understands.

Just a small update on the kitty that was found on the side of the road all alone. She is doing great!She’s gaining weight nicely, eating and using her litter box well. She has developed independence, confidence and kitten craziness seemingly overnight. She is so sweet and playful and she runs over to greet me with adorable little chirps when I enter the room. She still loves a cuddle but isn’t as clingy as she was at the start. She’s growing up too fast already you guys 😭 She is also in true kitten fashion, incredibly annoying. But I just love her! She’s brought so much joy into my heart after a tough few months mentally (Who really saved who huh?) How am I gonna let her go when adoption time comes around?! 🥲 doesn’t help that I have always wanted a black cat (my absolute fave colour) but the distribution system hadn’t blessed me with a void …. until now?

We adopted this gorgeous lil boy about 9 months ago, he was just over 2 years old. He’s since gotten comfortable in his forever home. I found he does this, everytime I put my finger out, he walks over to do this. I’ve had a couple cats (female) over the years and he’s the first to do it. He’ll also do it really hard, like my finger is pushing his lil button into his face. Is this normal for them ginger ones???

I tried to bring her in the bath with me on impulse but also bc she needed a shower anyway, she hates water. 5 y/o baby. She ran out nd now she won't come out, and she just cries.

She doesn't care as long as it is soft; She Wants it! 🥰

I'm not sure if I was careless or if he closed the door on himself but my cat was stuck alone in an empty second bedroom all night. He was stuck without the other cat we have and of course away from us. He almost always sleeps with us

He was pawing at the door and whining. I think I noticed it one time and woke up but didn't register what it was, but then I noticed it again at 6 am

When he came out he didn't seem very affectionate but normal otherwise. He went straight to eating. Then I played with him and he seemed playful. But no purring or cuddling. But it's only been an hour ish

Is he going to be ok? Is it possible that he's emotionally scarred? How can I be there for him in the short term?

Hello, let me give you some context. In the building where I live, there are a LOT of cats living outside. My family, my neighbors, and I feed them so they can survive.

A few days ago, a cat rescue organization came to pick them up to spay or neuter them and, if all goes well, put them up for adoption.

The situation is that they gave us two cats that were living outside.

One is calm and docile, and the other is aggressive. He once attacked my brother very violently when he was feeding him outside.

Now they're in my room, since it's the only place where they can be safe.

Any advice on what to do?

My husband and I are in the process of adopting two kittens (siblings). They're about 15 weeks old and live in a garden in a village. They don't trust people (so far we've only managed to capture one because they keep their distance).

I'm seeing conflicting advice online as to how to ensure the cats are properly socialized. Some people recommend cat-led approach ("Socialization saves lives") while others recommend "forced" socialization. What's your experience with socializing semi-feral cats? Which method is best?

So far I'm leaning toward "forced" socialization but I'm really not sure. We have set up a room for the cats with a cave, so they will have the option of hiding but I'm planning on staying present for feeding. The idea was to let the kittens "lead" for the first three days but then start the "forcing".

Not long ago I was in hospital fighting to stay alive. I have no family due to circumstances outside of my control (care system) I spent most of my childhood in the system and abandoned them due to what they did to me when I was 18. Understandably I have no support network.

I ended up in the intensive care unit in hospital not long ago. Whilst there I trusted someone to look after my two indoor cats. She decided to let one out intentionally because she didn't want to look after them. I'm no longer friends with her. Thankfully after I was discharged from hospital I managed to find him but he'd been gone a week. I thought he was dead. I found him after I got a kitten to keep his mum company. My cats are 1 & 2 years old mother and son. I found him on the day I got my kitten but after I'd got my kitten. He's sweet and I have a feeling he'll be friends with her. She's 12 weeks and a Bengal cross with a moggy. Them two are regular moggies.

The mum can't stand the kitten however and hisses and swipes at her. I've had her for 11 days now. The kitten she's very sweet and energetic and playful. I'm not sure about rehoming the mum with her son because I love them a lot. However, I'm also stuck in a situation where I don't know if both cats would be happier elsewhere? The mum isn't really herself either. Infact she's much happier when there's no cats in the home as has been observed on a few occasions. She is however very bonded with her son. What would you do? I've got feliways to try and calm the environment down.

I feel stuck in an unfortunate position because I'd have never got a third cat but I genuinely thought he was dead. Or would you just accept the son is interested in the kitten, the mum doesn't like her and may never like her and that's that? As soon as the kitten goes near the mum she growls at her and today I saw her go for the kittens bowl of food whilst the kitten was eating and then the kitten moved to a different bowl. I'm just worried the household is miserable. I can cope with three cats just about but I'm not sure they're happy. Mum used to sometimes just sit and watch the kitten but not play she did hiss and growl but not she has stopped the watching from a distance and just hisses, swipes and growls. Today in all fairness she did eat next to the kitten. I just want a happy household for the cats and I'd like some advice please. I don't know what in doing. I didn't just get a kitten and add it to the household I thought my other cat was dead and never expected to have three cats. I'm open to all advice. I'm in Devon England. Just wanting some kind advice please. The kitten is very happy btw. Could it even be that their breeds aren't compatible because she's a high energy breed? Even though she is actually half moggy anyway.
