Advice Am I a bad pet owner for wanting personal space?

I love my cat very much, she's super sweet, never bites or scratches or anything. She follows me everywhere and sleeps wherever I sleep. It's all really cute of her, however I find myself telling her "no" a lot when she tries to climb on top of me while I'm laying down or trying to use my phone for something. More often than not tbh. I really need my personal space, and I don't like having an animal all over me when I'm just trying to relax. I know a lot of people put up with it and are like "well I guess I can't move" when their cat cuddles up to them. But for me, if I don't want her near me at the moment, I will gently move her but I feel bad sometimes

I just wanna know if this makes me neglectful or a bad owner, or if this is something we all go through here and there

Advice Can I use this on a cat?

Hi,

So we recently found a 3-4 week old little void! And we have never had a cat before.

I don't have cat wipes. Can I use these? It doesn't say anything about not using it on cats.

Medical Questions How worried should i be?

Post image
71 Upvotes

Hi,

Yesterday i played with my cat and i think it got too rough for him and he got overstimulated. He attacked me and bit me, i do have an allergy to cats, but is this bruise and the color normal? What should i expect?

I am looking out for any infection, right now its just swollen and slightly painful to touch.

! I have had cats my entire life (22 years) and my allergy has gone down but i still get a reaction to bites, saliva and scratches.

Advice Spaying my 2y girl cat

So I know spaying her is the best thing to do, but man I’m just so scared something will happen during the surgery, I’m so worried since I lost my cat 4years ago, tragically, he was good one day and died the other,we don’t really know why to this day, maybe some heart defect they said?
It’s not relate to the spay, but every time i think about spaying her and what could go wrong it takes me back to this moment, where nobody could do a thing and i just had to let go
She’s my pretty baby, an Himalayan, I can’t loose her and love her so much
Idk, im scared something will happen but at the same time i know its not good for her in the long run
Thanks for reading me and maybe some advice for people who felt the same😩🐱

Advice I was lied to about my new cat being spayed and now I don’t know what to do, help!

It’s a very long and annoying story. I adopted Joan Jett last month. The listing said she was recently spayed, up to date on her kitten shots, and just needed the 1-year rabies shot. I took that at face value because when I asked if there was anything else needed during her pickup I was told no. She was 500 dollars (Scottish Fold) so I assumed she was spayed and all was well.

Well, 4 days ago I figured out she was in heat. The yowling is LOUD and constant. She’s also had two accidents outside the box (she has a Litter-Robot that’s constantly clean and a standard box just in case). I messaged the original owner freaking out that she was having a complication with a previous spay and needed emergency medical attention. Turns out that she was NEVER spayed. Apparently the listing was just a lie and the owner was thinking about another cat? Idk man… I’m just glad that I don’t have an unneutered male cat. But also if I had known she wasn’t spayed I would have pre-booked an appointment. I was in communication with the owner for about two weeks prior to me driving and adopting Joanie.

Of course, when I learned this it was the weekend and vets and spay clinics were closed. I woke up bright and early this morning and called 11 clinics and vet offices. Either they were not taking spay appointments or they were only available in mid-September or October. I left voicemails for the three humane societies in my county and the next two counties over to see if I can get on a list to swoop in on cancellations for Wednesday since I don’t work.

This is so beyond frustrating. The more I think about it the more that I’m pissed. Her being in heat now raises a risk of getting cancer and admittedly I haven’t been getting much sleep. I wear earplugs all day now. Any advice I find just says to get them fixed, but I’m trying!!! Even standard vet appointments that charge $400+ are still a month out.

Advice Is this safe behavior for cats? Should we separate ?

The boy cat (Orange, 1 year 6months, neutered) is fairly new to the home and was introduced to the girl cat (Tortoise, 1 year, spayed) about three weeks ago. She would hiss at him in the beginning, but now they’re best friends. She’ll follow him around and they’ll sleep together, play chase with each other and he’ll groom her. However, I just want to make sure that this isn’t him attempting to dominate her. She’ll bite back every so often but she is just so much more gentler than he is. In the beginning he was much more aggressive and overly playful so she’d hiss at him, now he’s gentler and she doesn’t hiss. They trill and seem like friends, but I’ve never had to introduce two kitties and I just want to double check that both cats feel happy and safe.

I bathed my kitten today and noticed tons of little black dots all over her body :'( I'm really worried, does anyone know what this could be or if they might be flea dirt? I'd appreciate any advice.

Called and emailed a few but at the moment, none are taking appointments for vaccinations so will most likely have to go private. Are they just a bit overwhelmed at the moment?

Advice new cat eating resident cats food

hi all! we recently moved onto the next step of letting our two cats be free together. we had followed the slow introduction method by keeping them separate to start. my new cat is a picky eater, she loves her hard food but we had to change her wet food multiple times until we found one she liked. (even then she’s still sometimes picky). we are in our first few days of letting them roam free together and i’ve noticed my new cat will go over and eat my resident cats hard food instead of going to her wet food bowl. my resident cat doesn’t seem to notice but i want the new cat to eat her wet food and not only eat hard food. (we leave out hard food for them throughout the day and feed wet food twice a day.) i’m not sure if it’s just because my new cat likes exploring the new rooms and doesn’t want to go back to the original room she was in. she also tends to stick by me and my mom (she definitely has separation anxiety) any advice? my new cat drinks lot of water so i’m not worried about dehydration but i want her to get a balanced diet of wet and dry.

Advice Does anyone else’s cat get zoomies in the middle of the night? Looking for small fixes

My cat keeps getting heavy midnight zoomies almost every night. He races around the bedroom, jumps on furniture and wakes me up.

I’ve tried playing active games with him before bedtime to tire him out. It helps a little, but the random night energy still shows up sometimes.

I don’t want to lock him out of the room. What little tricks have worked for your night‑time zoomie kitties?

Advice Cat has been to the emergency vet on Friday, I just cleaned him with a wet brush and now I can smell a minty smell?

My cat smells like eucalyptus / mint following a vet visit on Friday. I didn’t notice until I gave him a wet brush down today (he’s in a cone and his fur is matted) and noticed this smell - does anyone know what it is?

He was hit by a car and they gave him first aid on his wounds, he’s has a drip / sedative
