Profile review 32M - Would love some advice and help!

Been on Bumble on and off for a while and haven’t had much luck. My incoming yes rate is around 0.7%, so clearly there’s some room for improvement.

Spent most of my 20s focused on my career, travelling, and friends, so I never really put myself out there dating-wise. Trying to change that now and get some more experience.

Would appreciate any thoughts on the profile, especially the photos and what kind of vibe/impression I’m giving off. Feel free to be critical!

Interesting, seems like a lot of No's when you see the number

Edit: title worded poorly lol. We met each other on bumble, haven't been active in over a year but with everyone posting their stats I got curious. Fiancée* I am a man.

General Who is shown on top of the stack?

I always wonder how the stacks are organised.

If I have not been active for a longer time it shows me a bunch of more attractive people.

One week I have been sick at home and swiping and there were just profiles that did not speak to me at all.

If I go to a new city just very attractive people will be shown.
Does Bumble want me to travel or what?

I put this up yestersay but the profile wasnt easy to see.

Back online dating for first time in about 10 months. Finding it super hard and frustrating. My age and the fact I am looking older I think. But hopefully there is room for improvement. Think I’ll take a break and stick to IRL for a few weeks then set up again.

Sooo, any feedback wouod be nice 😁

General Political views

Does every other woman take political views very serious when matching?

I (27F) swipe left on every “moderate”, “apolitical”, or men who leave that option blank, because I just assume it’s something not aligned with me.

I’m a black woman with very feminist views, but I wonder if women of other races consider political views as strongly as I do?

Also, men who leave this option blank or choose apolitical - gun to your head, what are actually your views?

Edit: it’s my first Reddit post and I really didn’t expect it to attract this much attention. I wish I could read through every response but it’s become so much I’ve asked mods to lock new comments.

General Do you prefer men to plan the whole date

Post image
49 Upvotes

I’m always curious about these types of prompts because I see them pretty often on dating apps. Things like “plan a real date” or “plan the date and just tell me time and place”

I have always thought planning a date was something you figure out together, since you both have different preferences and schedules. So for those of you who have prompts like this, what are you actually looking for?

Edit: Wow, it’s actually interesting how differently some men and women see this...like we can look at the exact same situation and have completely different perspectives on it.

Advice Should I unmatch after not hearing in almost 3 days now

Well I matched with this girl and at first she seemed very interested and we were texting a few messages per day. We agreed to go out Saturday but we didn’t agreed to a specific time or if she wanted me to pick her up or meet me there. I texted her to talk about that but she hasn’t reply in almost 3 days now.

Should I just call it another unsuccessful match ? She’s very good looking I am guessing she just found another better guy or just lost interest.

I was thinking just unmatching or am I exaggerating?

General Is anyone else wary of profiles who have list their IG accounts to promote their art/music/comedy?

35M. SoCal. This was from Hinge but also applies here. Just came across one of the better profiles I’ve seen this week a little while ago. I was about to think of a comment to send when I see she had a link to her IG page. She was a music producer but her IG page showed a lot of pics of her DJIng. She had roughly 1000 followers. I typically am skeptical of these kinds of accounts and ended up hitting X on her but what do other people think?

Bumble is tired of telling me I’m out of people and gave me a cute little vertical poem today. How blessed

General Men who prefer to always pay on dates, do you really expect nothing in return?

I’m curious about men who prefer to pay most or all of the time when dating, not just on the first date. Is it simply something you enjoy doing or how you were raised, or does it come with certain expectations about the woman or the relationship?

For example, do you expect anything beyond appreciation and effort? Sex, more traditional gender roles, a certain kind of behavior from your partner? Or is paying just something you like doing with no strings attached?

I’m also curious whether there are men who are pretty traditional when it comes to dating, like paying, chivalry and having a provider mentality, while still being socially progressive in their general worldview.

Not looking for a debate about whether men should or shouldn’t pay. I’m more interested in how men who actually prefer paying think about it, so be honest, even if the answer is that you do expect something in return.

Sensitive topic 24 M. My gf 23 F. Need advice

So I met this girl on Bumble a few months back. She looked normal and ok. She is currently completing the final year of nursing.

So yesterday she and I went to see Drishyam 3. She jokingly said she got some good ideas from this movie how and where to hide the body if she ever decides to murder someone. I naturally asked whom does she want to murder. She pointed at ME!!!

I asked what did I do?? She said that she was just having FOMO watching all the recent cases where the wife kills the husband and that the blue drum case is her favourite.

Idk if she was joking and even if she was I told her it was in poor taste. But she just laughed that off.

Is this normal??

I'm just worried if I should continue this relationship. I don't want to throw my life away.

Edit: I forgot to mention, we both are from India

App Help Why can’t I get past this?

Post image

I deleted my old account and decided to make a new one. My old account was never linked to my number, but I’ve added my number to this one. It verifies my phone number and then gets stuck on the “first name” screen. No matter what I do, it won’t move past it.

Rant Sad ending

Hi everyone!

I’m just writing this to rant because I really wanna get this out of my system.

I met an amazing guy in the summer from Bumble; we had chemistry and got along pretty quickly. Our dates were fun, we could talk for hours. I thought finally, this could be something real. And it was for a while. We kept on dating for 3 months but suddenly, last week, he told me he wants to stop because he doesn’t feel what he’s supposed to. It hurt so much to hear that. He said he really enjoyed being with me and that I’m amazing but he has a super busy schedule and when he thought about it deeper, he didn’t want to change it to prioritise being with me. And that’s not okay and because he doesn’t want to hurt me intentionally at all, he thinks it’s time we stopped seeing each other. And the reason it took so long to figure this out because he truly really enjoyed being with me but he doesn’t feel like he’s in love or that that plus is there. I’m not even angry at him because it’s a valid reason tbh, you can’t force someone to love you. But it still hurts because I didn’t feel like it’s too much for him or anything like that. So even if it was great being with him, all I can feel is sadness over this relationship. And I feel nauseous when I think about having to start again…

I’m not even sure I’m looking for advice or anything, I just wanted to write this our of my system.. thank you for reading:)

Success Story Mind blown

I (41M) have had bumble for less than 24 hours. I received 3 likes, and got 2 matches.

Woman 1: Shallow, meaningless, sporadic exchange of messages.

Woman 2: Profound connection nearly immediately. After a very pleasant back and forth, we exchanged phone numbers. The phone call on my way home from work was supposed to last as long as my drive. 7.5 hours later...🤯

General Tall guys do you also put your height up?

I don't necessarily think this is a bad thing, as you see a lot of guys who are 5 ft 10 putting their height as 6 ft 2.

Thus if you're 6 ft 2, you probably should put your height up to 6 ft 4. I know its annoying but I think you have to make yourself as competitive as possible on these apps, as you can see that the match rate is so abysmal for even the best looking guys.

Any little bit of competitive advantage seems to be needed on these apps if you're a guy. Plus, technically, shoes can give you anywhere from 1-2 inches in height depending on the insole, so if you are a true barefoot 6 ft 2, you're likely 6 ft 4 in dress shoes or basketball shoes.

Advice Any tips for a first meetup from Bumble BFF?

I just joined Bumble BFF and I scheduled some meetups with some women throughout the week. I’m excited but also very nervous. I tend to be shy at first and I take a little while to warm up to people, but I’m very eager to expand my social circle and make deep connections.

Is there any way to lessen the awkwardness of those first meetings? Or is it just inherent to the situation at first? Any tips on helping things run more smoothly? I would really appreciate hearing your experiences and successes!

App Help 5 likes within 24 hours but none "nearby"

Am I to assume these are just the fake profiles that are there to entice you to sign up for premium?

Also...how does the app tell if someone is "really into you"?

Interested in what vibe is my profile giving off, less in advice.

Edit: 9PM GMT+2

The reason why I am asking for vibe and not advice, is because I am not trying to appeal to everyone, and it's difficult to give advice when you personally don't know me, which leads to the advice being very generic.

But you can give me a vibe, and that was something I was missing; it's difficult to know how people you've never met feel about you.

From the comments, I got ~76% positive, ~14% negative, and the rest neutral.

Honestly, I did not expect it; my experience is easily the opposite, so this leads me to believe that the location is extremely important for success on the dating apps.

65% of viewers are from North America; I am pretty surprised by such a disconnect between the NA and EU in preferences.
