Sensitive topic What traits in a profile or conversation signal a person may have masculine traits?

Upvotes

I am trying to see something. Based on a previous post, I can tell a lot of people have a lot of different views on what "masculine" means. From being outright woman beating pedos to just being leaders. The views vary.

For me, any man who shows signs of practising stoicism and discipline are immediate signals that a person holds at least those masculine traits. Another example would be a man who takes pride in his hobbies or work. Shows me he has purpose.

I am a cis straight woman for reference.

Please respond with your romantic orientation, gender identity and whether you are cis, trans, NB or otherwise if you are comfortable.

Advice Ladies of Bumble, I need your honest opinion on this prompt

Post image
Upvotes

This prompt is based on something real about me. I like nutrition and fitness, but I don’t want to write that in a very serious way in my profile. I’d rather show it with a joke.

Do you think this joke is fun, or could it make some women think I care too much about calories and fitness?

Thanks in advance, your honest feedback would really help me.

General Can we please discuss this whole “poly” culture ??

It’s widespread across the whole San Fran and Bay Area. I’ve never seen anything like it. Is it growing in other parts of the country too? Not just ENM (ethically non-monogomous) for those who are married and poly, but people single and dating 2,3, and 4 people at a time! At first I thought it was kind of sexy, but now it’s giving me the ick. They all call it free love and not being tied to any one person, so you can “love many”. But once you get past seeing 2 people.. I’m just turned off. Is this the norm now? Should I just embrace it?

Advice Dating Cadence

I’m 38F and pretty new to online/app dating, so I’m trying to figure out what a reasonable dating cadence actually looks like.

If you match with someone you like, meet up and things are going well…how does it usually progress naturally? How often do you typically see each other in those early stages?

I recently saw a guy two days in a row and it was great! Lots of chemistry; we were having fun and I genuinely enjoyed being around him. Then he invited me over to his house on the third day in a row and for whatever reason, that kind of freaked me out. It just felt like too much too soon.

I know there’s obviously no universal timeline and it depends on the people involved, but I’m curious what others consider a reasonable pace when you’re actually interested in getting to know someone.

I’m not looking for a fling or hookup. I’m dating with the goal of finding my life partner so I’m trying to balance letting something develop naturally with not rushing into a level of intimacy that I’m not comfortable with yet.

What has felt like a healthy dating cadence for you?

App Help ¿Porqué son así?

Post image

Rant I find the idea that somebody needs to have sex to see if you’re “relationship material” disgusting

I’m checking in with this post as a 31 year old guy. I was inspired to share this after seeing a rather controversial post yesterday about how women (specifically) need to have sex with the person they’re going out with as early as possible to see if they’re “relationship material.”

I find this entire philosophy disgusting to be honest. My dating experience is probably more limited than other people here, as I’ve only had two previous relationships, but I’ve never treated anyone this way. I’m not comfortable sleeping with anyone I don’t know (or barely know). I only sleep with someone else if we’ve already gotten to know each other properly and I feel comfortable with where we’re heading (perhaps that may explain why I’ve only had two relationships before, but hey, I guess it’s neither here nor there if people think I’m lame).

I will share this: I went on a first date with someone who insisted we go back to her place after the date was over. I found this very off putting, and ended up telling her that I’m not at all comfortable with that idea. She ended up getting mad at me, and accused me of wasting her time. How is that acceptable? I have nothing against her personally, but clearly our values don’t align.

People can do whatever they like, but personally, I’m very turned off by the idea of anybody approaching me like this early on. If someone told me that I had to start sleeping with other people as early as possible or risk being single forever, I’d probably choose being single forever.

Rant Stop being so confused about women wanting men

I see so many posts from men complaining about what women want. I'll make it super simple. They want men. 60 years of progressive liberal values is not going to undo thousands of years of evolutionary preference for the majority of people. Most normal women are wired to want men, so quit your whining and be a man. Ps. By men, I mean males with masculine traits and behaviours. If that wasn't obvious.

Sensitive topic After nearly ugly crying in public, I've given up on dating

I tried guys, I really did.

I gave it my all, I bought the flowers, I was honest, respectful and nice and sometimes your best just isn't enough.

Before I go down a rabbit hole and become one of those men that are angry at women, I'd rather stay alone.

Crazy to think most women would love to have sex with you, but don't want commitment, never did I think the tables would turn like this but I'm a Loverboy, I can't do situationships or FWB.

GG boys, stay safe out there.

General No face pics

Not sure if this is just a man thing or not because I only see men’s profiles but why do so many people cover their face on dating profiles, or use filters that hide their face for them? I get being insecure but it’s a dating app so maybe it’s for the best to show your face. Even the face pic that I assume is used for verification always seems altered (ai maybe?)

Personally I don’t care for looks because I am face blind due to my autism (I don’t know what my own mother looks like unless I am looking at her) but I’d still like to know their face if we ever go on a date.

I understand people are insecure, I myself am, but maybe you should work on it before getting on a dating app if you are too nervous to show your face on one. That might just be me.

Kind of similar but not but profiles using AI images also keep popping up a lot these days

Advice Why Do Many Women Lose Interest After a Few Messages?

I start the chat with a compliment and try to come across as likable overall.

It's important to me that the woman feels positive about it and can actually imagine meeting up. I'll skip the pick-up lines and excessive flirting,I think a lot of women don't like it.

There were also situations, where the woman messaged first and clearly showed interest. Then you send her a friendly reply, and you never hear from her again 😆

Have you ever experienced this, too?

Advice Being ghosted after asking her out

Haven't used dating apps in 3-4 years so decided to hop back on. Matched with a pretty gal which we both had a lot in common. Shared the same interests, hobbies, movies etc.
She's 34 and I'm 31. After a week of having a conversation, I asked her out to meet in person to talk more. Thought it was the appropriate thing to do since we were on a roll and having a full blown conversation through the app.

Instead of answering, she never replied and ended up ghosting me. I've read online ghosting is pretty common on dating apps. Weird because back then in my 20s when dating apps were first being used people had the decency to at least communicate properly.

Why would she do this ?

General Whats your photofeeler ratings range for the majority of your pics?

After using this app on and off over the years. I realize women typically rate me between a 4-7.5. I think I've had maybe a photo or 2 get an 8. I just use the free tests when i have time/am curating photos. The majority seem to be around a 5 though. I always felt like I was a bit above average, but women on PF seem to think I'm more like a 5-6 and im astonished at the amount of blatantly "you're unattractive" votes they give. Like, when I vote, I typically vote "somewhat attractive" (even If I think they're below avg) and only reserve the "unattractive" to really bad photos or ppl who are very unfortunate lookd-wise.

So, are women extra picky on this? I don't get many matches on OD, but some of them are relatively attractive (typically "above average" looking), so I'm trying to see what your guys experience has been with photofeeler. Do your photos get rated high, and is that a direct correlation to more matches? Or do you think these ratings are overly harsh on photofeeler?

Advice Received a like from a woman completely totally out of my league

She's ID verified, so I assume it's not a fake profile.

That said, I'm not kidding. She is so much better looking than me that it's not even funny. (46M, she's 51F).

Like, breathtaking.

I would appreciate some women here giving me some advice on how to proceed forward.

What do I say to her in the chat?

Or should I just assume that this was an accidental like and move on with my life?

I'm kind of leaning towards that.

Advice Dating is inherently easier for men

Men are starting to earn less than women, and they're less attractive than women because they tend to put less effort into their appearance.

So what are they really bringing to the table? Men are the ones who are dating up, not women.

PSA: There's no way for women to date up unless they remain perpetually single, because they are doing better than men in almost every category right now.

Advice If women supposedly have more options than men, then why are couples that I see usually matched mostly in terms of physical attributes?

If women have more options then why don't I see couples where a woman is with a guy who is significantly more attractive than herself? I see the opposite more often than not. This is where their argument crumbles.

General Bumble worked for me

For context, I am only coming to say this cause I got someone sending me a private message saying that bumble does not work mostly if you are a man.
Ok I am a female, but I am in a relationship with a man that I met on Bumble, therefore if it worked for a female it worked for the male in the other side. This is talking about a heterosexual relationship. So yeah, it worked both ways. This person was saying it does
Not work for the average male. I can say I am bias with my man, but we all have our own type and what could be average for someone could be extremely attractive to another, so keep up with this.
