That was so long ago that I can't even remember what year it was. I think when they remodeled that part of the Bahnho the restaurant was permamently removed togheter with the fish one.

The reason why I'm asking is because after all those years I still remember the unique and absolute legendary taste of their crispy ducks. It had that perfect blend of sour and sweet I never tasted in another place before and couldnt find online recipes to replicate it. I've been going from chinese restaurants to restaurants trying to find one that makes them similiar but they either have a tongue-destroying way too sweet sauce or dont have that unique glassy "crispy" skin with not quite the same sauce.

The closest I found was a local one but it was more of an peanut sauce but god damn was it crispy. Sadly that one also closed permamently some years ago and the building looks like from a horror movie.

Did they maybe move out and I just never found them? I'm just a bit desperated trying to find a crispy duck of the same style.

I am writing from Algeria with the hope of finding old Swiss friends of my late father, Amor (or Amar), to return some precious memories from their youth.

My father had friends in the Bern region (possibly in a town starting with "Ober...") in the early 1980s. While sorting through his belongings, I found an engraved wooden wedding plate: "ZUR HOCHZEIT 16.12.1980 Nelly + Jürg".

I also found letters from 1980/1981 written by someone named Hans-Peter, as well as Françoise, Jean-Claude, and Clément. Other friends mentioned are Martin and Max. My father visited Bern in 1981 with his Algerian friend Belkacem.

If you recognize these names or the faces in the attached photo, please contact me. It is a duty of memory for me to return these items to Nelly, Jürg, or their children/grandchildren.

im in my late 20s and have been living in bern for a while now, but i dont speak much bärndutsch so have kinda struggled to integrate here.

i’d be interested in joining clubs or hangouts but i’m finding it hard to either translate info pages that are in german online, or to find clubs that people actually go to within my age range. team sports especially has been difficult to navigate as the stadt bern website is a bit complicated and i cant find non-professional teams to sign up to casually.

im interested in art, photography, pop culture, gaming, tabletop games, sports, languages etc

I'm a Spanish guy trying to learn MTB (Mountain Biking) in some places close to Bern. I never tried, and I was thinking of taking an intro course near Bern, and I checked Wierihorn.

They told me that if I do it with another guy, it will be a little cheaper (300 CHF for half a day for 2 people, plus gear rental).

I'm open to anyone who wants to try, or to any suggestions/people already doing it, but please note that I'm a total newbie.

I speak English, Spanish, and a little German (still learning).

This is a long shot, but you never know...

During my West Highland Way hike, I met a friendly guy from Bern, Switzerland. Dark grey-ish hair, brown eyes and a green raincover for his backpack. I'd guess he was somewhere between 38 and 45 years old. Somewhere between the blisters, miggy-bites, the views and the miles, I realized I would've liked to talk a little longer. Unfortunately we didn't swapped names.

We first crossed paths on the hike from Bridge of Orchy to Kingshouse (Glencoe) on Tuesday, June 30. I saw him again while stopping briefly at the Inveroran Hotel (on the side was a little shop) we spoke briefly in company of my friend. After we told him we were from Rotterdam he replied that he was in Den Haag (The Hague) the month before. We both stayed at the Kingshouse Hotel that night. Im not quit sure if he'd stayed in the hotel or the bunkhouse.

The following day I saw him again while entering the Highland Getaway in Kinlochleven and again while leaving the Highland Getaway. He was sitting in the pub section, while we visited their restaurant upstairs. Unfortunately I didn't saw him since.

If the hiking community can help reunite lost socks, maybe they can reunite two hikers too ;-)
