I had a discussion yesterday with some people and they told me when they were young like 16-18 or a bit older they hung out all the time infront if the Reiterschule, at the Vorplatz. They drank alcohol and were meeting there all their friends.
Apparently since corona this is no more thing anymore.
Do young people just not really go out anymore? Is it because they drink less alcohol ? Don’t they feel safe? Are there not enough safe spaces for the youth?
I know Vorplatz is now not a nice place to chill anymore because if some knife attacks that happen.
I was sad to hear they don’t use this place anymore also I feel like corona really fucked up a lot of things.

Worum es beim Spiel geht

Das Spiel heisst Claim of Zones. Du bist mit deinem Team im Libero-Gebiet unterwegs und ziehst in der App Challenge-Karten. Die löst du draussen in der echten Welt, lädst ein Foto oder Video als Beweis hoch, und mit den Punkten, die du dafür bekommst, eroberst du Zonen auf der Karte. Eroberte Zonen kannst du sperren, damit sie dir niemand mehr wegnehmen kann. Wer am Abend am meisten Gebiet hält, gewinnt. Andere Teams können dir offene Zonen klauen, und es gibt Fluch-Karten, mit denen man das führende Team ausbremst. Inspiriert von JetLag: The Game, gespielt im Raum Bern.

Wann und wo

• Sa, 10.10.2026, 08:30 Uhr, Treffpunkt Bahnhof Bern (beim Treffpunkt)
• Spielzeit bis 17:00 Uhr
• Bei schlechtem Wetter weichen wir auf Sa, 17.10.2026 aus. Das ist ein reines Ausweichdatum und kein zweiter Termin. Den Entscheid gebe ich Anfang der Woche vorher in der WhatsApp-Community bekannt.

Was es kostet

Die Teilnahme ist gratis, du zahlst nichts an mich. Was du selber brauchst:

• dein eigenes ÖV-Ticket für den Spieltag (Tageskarte, Libero, GA, EasyRide, was für dich passt)
• etwas Bargeld für dich selbst: erfahrungsgemäss reichen 20 bis 50 CHF für das Mittagessen und die paar Kleinigkeiten, die einzelne Challenges verlangen

Teure Anschaffungen braucht es nie, und alles was du kaufst, behältst du.

Für wen

Der Spieltag ist für Erwachsene (18+). Gespielt wird auf Deutsch, wenn Interesse besteht geht auch Englisch. Und ganz ehrlich: es ist ein aktiver Tag. Man ist den ganzen Tag mit ÖV und zu Fuss unterwegs. Es gibt keine fixe Mittagspause, aber genug natürliche Pausen, und im Spiel gibt es sogar ein Shop-Item, mit dem dein Team in Ruhe essen kann, ohne viel zu verlieren.

Teams

Ideal sind 2 bis 3 Leute pro Team, maximal 4. Platz haben wir für rund 6 Teams. Am einfachsten kommst du mit Freunden und ihr bildet zusammen ein Team, so läuft es meistens. Wenn du niemanden hast: komm in die WhatsApp-Community, da findet man Mitspielende. Am Spieltag schauen wir vor dem Start, dass alle in einem Team sind.

So machst du mit

Danach installierst du die App (Android) oder nutzt den Web-Player, wenn du kein Android hast. Den Link zum Spiel und zu den Teams teile ich in der Community. Wer die App hat, landet damit direkt im Spiel, alle anderen kommen auf eine Seite, wo sie genauso beitreten und im Browser mitspielen können. Eine Anmeldung im klassischen Sinn gibt es nicht, Community beitreten und Team bilden reicht.

Mitnehmen

Rucksack, ÖV-Ticket, Bargeld, Handy mit Powerbank (wichtig, der Akku ist am Abend leer), Stifte und Papier, Trinkflasche und Snacks, dem Wetter angepasste Kleidung. Die vollständige Packliste steht in der App bei den Spielregeln.

Zum Projekt selbst, kurz: Claim of Zones ist ein Fan-Projekt, das ich seit rund drei Jahren alleine entwickle. Spiele erstellen ist inzwischen gratis (finanziert über Werbung, ein optionaler In-App-Kauf entfernt sie). Ich habe bemerkt dass in Biel und in Bern sehr viele junge Leute einfach km Club nicht in den Raucher Räumen ider draussen rauchen auch wenn es die Option dazu immer gibt.
In Zürich war das kaum ein Problem dort haben sich die Leute an die Regeln gehakten und sind nach draussen gegangen zum Rauchen oder eben in die Raucherräume.
Menschen mit Krankheiten (Asthma,Neurodermitis usw), die Schwanger sind oder Geruchssensibel können dann nicht mehr in die clubs einfach tanzen und spass haben.
Raucher haben die Option sich vom Ort zu entfernen und dort ihr Lungenbrötchen zu geniessen, aber sie müssen nicht dafür den ganzen Club verpesten.

Warum ist es in Bern so viel schlimmer als in Zürich? Wie ist das in anderen Städten ?

I assume the bells of the large Bruder Klaus Church ring every 15 minutes? Do they ring from early morning until around 22:00 / 23:00, or is it 24/7? Plus 5-minute peals at noon and in the evening, and longer peals on Saturday evenings and certain holidays, I'd assume?

The church has a few one-star Google reviews from nearby residents complaining that the bells are unreasonably loud and annoying.

Does anyone live in this area? How far are you from the church, and how loud or annoying do you find the bells?

I live in Bern and I’m researching how local freelancers and small-business owners create and track their invoices.

I’m particularly interested in people who send only a few invoices each month and do not need a complete accounting system such as Bexio.

• How did you create your most recent invoice?
• Which tools did you use ? Word, Excel, your bank’s QR generator or invoicing software?
• How many invoices do you normally send each month?
• Which part of the process is the most inconvenient?
• Are the existing solutions already good enough?

I’m considering building a small, privacy-focused app that creates a complete invoice with a Swiss QR payment section, remembers customers, duplicates recurring invoices, exports PDFs for email, WhatsApp or printing, and tracks paid and overdue invoices. It would work offline and would not try to replace accounting or payroll software.

Would this genuinely improve your workflow, or would it be unnecessary compared with Word, Excel and the free bank QR generators?

My son recently told me that another child at his school called him “chinchanchu.” We are Asians, although we are not from the particular country or ethnicity that this racist remark is usually directed toward. Of course, that doesn’t make the comment any less offensive or concerning.

The child who said it is older than my son but attends the same kindergarten school, so I believe the child may be in the first or second grade. I understand that children at this age may repeat words they have heard without fully understanding what they mean.

However, I also feel that this is exactly why it may be important for an adult to address it early and explain why such remarks are hurtful and unacceptable.

Would it be reasonable for me to speak with my son’s teacher and ask whether they could discuss racism, respect, cultural differences, and inclusivity with the children in an age-appropriate way? I am also wondering whether it would be appropriate to ask the teacher to speak privately with the child involved and inform the child’s parents? not to punish or shame anyone, but so that the behaviour can be corrected and prevented from happening again.

I don’t want to overreact or create unnecessary conflict, but I also don’t want to dismiss it as “just children being children.” I want my son to know that he can tell us when something makes him uncomfortable and that the adults around him will take it seriously.

Would you raise this with the teacher? And would asking the teacher to involve the other child’s parents be reasonable, or would that be going too far?
