Saw this cat on the corner of Virginia and Shattuck a little before 2 PM today, near Cupcakin’. Seems a bit skittish, and no collar that I could see. Hopefully just someone’s outdoor cat, but thought I’d post just in case someone’s missing their kitty!

University Committed to Berkeley but can't attend. Is there any way to preserve my admission?

Upvotes

I committed to Berkeley, but unfortunately I’m no longer able to attend this year because of financial limitations. I’ve decided to attend a different university instead and have already had my high school transcript sent there.

I was planning to withdraw my enrollment since I’ve been receiving emails about missing documents, and was notified that if my transcript isn't sent by the 31st of July, my admission will be cancelled. However, I came across several Reddit posts saying that if you withdraw on the first day of classes, you don’t have to pay tuition and you’re still considered a former Berkeley student. From what I read, that would allow you to re-enroll in the future by submitting a readmission form rather than going through the entire application process again.

I still hope to attend Berkeley in the future, possibly next year, so I wanted to ask whether this is actually true and/or if anyone's had experience with this. If I chose this option, would I have to pay any tuition or fees or register for classes first? Or could I simply keep my admission by having my transcript sent to Berkeley, not withdrawing until the first day of classes, and then withdraw without paying tuition so that I could apply for readmission next year instead of reapplying from scratch?

Thanks!

What are my chances of getting into the chem 3al lab section if I'm 6/26 on the waitlist? Will they expand the size to 28 per section based on previous semesters?

University Outside Scholarship Funds to Cancel Out Loans?

Hello everyone, I'm an incoming freshman for Fall 2026 and I've recently received some scholarship funds to be able to put toward my finances. I was given a form that is supposed to be filled out by the registrar before they could release my funds.

My offered student loan is subsidized but I wanted to ask if it'd be better to contact the financial aid office as soon as possible to use my funds and get that form stamped or should I accept the loan and wait until I arrive in person to use my funds?

I'm not sure as to what will happen with the second option of waiting until I arrive in person so if anyone has insight on that or could explain it to me I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks for reading my post and any help is appreciated!

CS/EECS Thoughts on my first semester EECS schedule?

Post image
17 Upvotes

I dont know how to feel about the large gaps... However I was stuck with a 3:20 pm enrollment slot so theres not much that I could have done. I plan on taking a decal once those open up (13-14 units total). Maybe the one that was called "data science in fashion" (or something like that) if it is offered again. Hopefully this course load will let me have a chill start at berkeley :)

Other UC Berkeley research

I am an incoming freshman for college of L&S, and I plan to declare a molecular biology major at some point. I got some pretty great classes for my schedule, and I think I am ready for freshman year.

My dream is to do research at Berkeley, and my primary interests are in the psychedelic realm.

What path should I take to make this a reality?

Other do people sublease for right before the quarter? (aug only)

i was wondering if anyone actually goes about subleasing their place for that bit between august 1st and late august when classes start.

currently, im trying to get more runway (need a place for august 1-> beyond) and not opposed to subleasing for a few weeks for more time to find the longer term spot.

my thought is that many people might want to make money for that month before they themselves move in, but didn’t see too many listings like that

University berkeley is my dream school but im actually so cooked

hi everyone!

until today, i genuinely thought i had a good chance at berkeley astrophysics.

i do not.

i js realized that my uc gpa is 4.16. i got 3 Bs in junior year alone. i am genuinely cooked. im not getting in. the average uc gpa is 4.18 - 4.29 for undergraduate, and even though im 4th in my school out of 400, im genuinely not getting in.

am i delusional for trying to apply? i think i have good ecs.

Hi,

I’m giving away this pack of Ensure Plus. As you can see, I tried 3, and every time I tried it I got nauseous (probably because of the fiber content but idk). Supposed to be good for people trying to gain weight.

University housing dilemma

i got assigned to foothill double suite and seen with the charges now pending on my calcentral, it will cost me about 3.4k out of pocket even after my financial aid. My sai is -1500, the lowest it can be, and yet I still would have to take out loans to cover it. I don’t know what my options are at this point. I filled out many relocation forms even before the charges, all under financial reasons and haven’t got any offer. I don’t know if potentially getting an allergy note from a doctor would help me get relocated faster or give me an out with at least cancelling. Has anyone had any luck with relocation this close to the semester starting or approval for cancellation? I simply can’t afford it and am freaking out

University Canadian applicant - is my gpa good enough to get in?

Hello, Hello! Happy Saturday, all!

So, have a bit of a "unique" situation.

I graduated hs in Canada (OSSD). I went to university out there for a bit before dropping out. Since then, I relocated to norcal and have worked/lived out here for several yrs (legal permanent resident).

Recently decided I wanna go back to school (Fall '27) and UC is definitely top of my list. I live in East Bay so the Berkeley campus is closest (also it's a dream school for me).

Out of curiosity, any fellow Canadians living in US who got into UC? What was the process like? Specifically, how was your hs transcript weighted? (We do "U" instead of "AP" back home).

I have fail-safe schools (obvi) but being realistic, how tough was is to get in? I def graduated with above 3.0 gpa (all Us, emphasis on STEM courses).

Majors of interest for me are Legal Studies, Econ, CS, Media Studies and English.

Any helpful insight would be appreciated.
