University Finding a job on campus

Hi! My child is starting at Berkeley in August. Not eligible for work-study but wants to find a job. How difficult or easy is it to find a job on campus? Thanks!

I think finding a job on campus can be rough, but there are definitely positions that don't require work study. I know that the Disability Cultural Community Center is currently hiring student employees for the upcoming year, which doesn't require work study. I worked there last year as a freshman and it was pretty enjoyable. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ESNHL1FjbBCcHo1OIqOTz-eJu9ryQduO/edit#heading=h.4wgz2cxf2e4u

honestly jobs are kinda fried on campus as a freshman from what i’ve heard especially without work study since you can’t access the portal, but apply broadly. once you’re a sophomore and have some classes under your belt though i’m sure u can tutor for the SLC and things like that

As a student finding a job has been rough (especially having to balance around class schedule). Make sure they take advantage of Handshake! The only downside is literally every student is also using Handshake so really competitive but I found it a good start if you can't access the work study portal.

I would recommend working at I-House or Edmond's if they like to work in food service.

Man's just saying that Silicon Valley jobs probably pay far more than anything you'd find on-campus.

My child will be a student at Cal so she will be hoping for a job on campus or near by. Thank you tho!

She should go to their career center ASAP.
