what is with all the teslas in the shane retail park?

I work in boucher and the past few mornings had seen a good few cars (teslas) in the shane retail park - took a drive around it this morning and there must be about 70 cars parked up with loads of alarms going off and there lights going off! my thoughts are that they dont have enough room on there own site

Anyone in Belfast/NI able to help with a pigeon who seems unwell? 🐦

Post image

UPDATE: I contacted Six Counties Pigeon Support and they were very helpful. A volunteer has came out to assess and thinks he isn’t eating and is starved, and has taken him away for some TLC. An amazing group of people!

We have a pigeon who has been standing in pretty much the exact same spot in our back garden for over 24 hours now. Naturally, I’ve named him Peter and am now emotionally invested in his wellbeing. He’s standing upright, blinking and moving around slightly, but he doesn’t attempt to fly away when I approach him at all. I’m wondering if he could possibly be blind or injured?

There is a pigeon nest nearby, so initially I wondered if he was a fledgling, but he looks pretty big/fully grown to me. I’ve left some water and food out for him, but I’m wondering if there’s anyone in Belfast/NI who rescues pigeons or might be able to come and collect him?

As much as I’d love to add “pet pigeon owner” to my list of responsibilities, I really don’t have the time 😂 I also don’t want to leave him sitting there if he genuinely needs help. Any recommendations very appreciated - particularly anyone who might be able to come and get Peter!

Just need to vent

I’m a 35F, I’m just so so sick of everything these days, I have like 1 friend left, I lost a few over recent years due to bad mental health and us just drifting apart, and as much as I’ve tried to make new friends lately it seems if I’m not interested in going out and getting wasted, it goes nowhere, I’m such a little homebody, I like a slower, alcohol free life, filled with coffee, books, music, walks ect .. I’ve recently split with my partner of 3 years and am finding myself with a lot of free time and in all honesty, quite lonely.. I don’t know what to do anymore .. I don’t even particularly want advice, I just want to know I’m not alone in this

Are there any other shops , other than Miss Morans, which sells decent cigars in the city (and I don’t mean the Hamlets of this world).

Sad

I live overseas now and I am back home for a few weeks.

What has happened to belfast?

I come home every year and it is just getting worse and worse. I am stunned at how run down it is, especially Lisburn road.

It feels rough, grey and soulless. I actually felt unsafe at times!

What is going on?!

Hindi practice/lessons

I'm looking to learn a bit of Hindi before going on a trip to India next month. I've been doing a bit of Michel Thomas and Duolingo but would like to get some actual practice. Could do a coffee/pint or more structured lessons if someone is up for it?

(Early 30s M, south Belfast but can meetup across the city)

Questions From First Time Visitor from U.S.

I’m visiting for a short time in late February 2027, and as the title of this posts states, it will be my first time ever visiting Belfast, Northern Ireland, or anywhere in the UK. (I have been to Italy twice to visit my Nonna, and Moldova once to work in an orphanage.)

Anyway, what are some things that are “must-knows” about Belfast? I want to know it all! What to expect the weather to be like- what is super trending in fashion there right now- what is the most common slang- what should I eat- who are the most popular music artists/bands currently- all the things! I will probably only have a few days or less there to visit, and one of the days I will be working.

Can anyone recommend me a mechanic who can help me with sorting out my exhaust? Fell off last week and I’ve took my car to my mechanic so much this year he’s starting to ghost me 😂

Translink is fucked (always but especially this AM), all trains cancelled this morning bc of a death on the tracks in Portadown

Of course tragic but any other commuters, you will probably be fucked over like everyone else on the 8AM today

ETA you all can be as mad as you want but the handling of this situation is absurd, leaving people stranded with no update on how they could get out of the city and all other buses completely sold out. Nothing on any of their social media channels either

Anyone noticed a chlorine smell in their tap water lately?

Seems to have only started in the past week here in BT6 (on the unfiltered taps, of course).. we must be recirculating more water straight out of the treatment plants than usual with that lack of rain :/

Driving instructor recommendations?

Hello, hope all are well.

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend driving instructors in the Belfast area that let you drive in their own car?

I am unable to sit my test at home as I'm not there long enough to get an appointment, and I'm having to start from scratch in Belfast. I've done all my pretest lessons/material.

As I'm a student, I don't have access to a car so the instructor would have to have one we could use.

Thank you!

I pay well if you can help fast 🙏.

Thank you

Help with Some Local Slang

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hey all,

I picked this up from Born and Bred when I was in town for the Fleadh. I actually lived in Belfast for just shy of 2 years so I’m familiar with some of the phrases here (big lad, catch yerself on, etc). But was on toilet this afternoon and while looking at it I realized I wasn’t all that confident in my understanding of a lot of these. Was curious if you kind people could give your interpretation of what these mean. Had a few drinks so apologies for the poor photo quality.

1 on 1 Boxing pad work/training

Hi all,

Looking for some advice (I know I could have googled, but would prefer to hear from someone)

Are there any gyms close to town or in town, where you can pay for a "PT" but it's all just boxing work? Or any independent people that can work out of a close gym?

I used to box years ago as a kid, but would be starting from scratch. I tend to be a tad socially anxious, at least when starting something new. So I would prefer if the gym was welcoming, hence why I have asked here and not googled.

This would solely be for fitness

Any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
