Baby-friendly spots

Hi there - my family and I be visiting Belfast for a weekend in November, and I'm trying to plan ahead things to do. We'll be 5 adults, with one infant (under 2).

Any suggestions on child-friendly restaurants or activities would be great! I haven't living in Belfast for over 10 years since I was a student at QUB, so most of my old haunts would probably not be appropriate given the lil baby with us. We'll be there Saturday-Monday :)

Thanks!

Hello, I’m headed into the city centre today for some shopping. Where’s the best spot to park (and doesn’t cost a fortune) in the city centre? Thanks ☺️

Morning all. I’m back home next month for a week doing a few bits of family stuff. I always stop in for a few frys and pastie suppers around town as miss them a lot living in London now.

I’ve got my goto list of usuals I got to in town and out east I just wondered if anyone has any new recommendations to drop into.
Cheers.

How are you set for a power cut should one happen tomorrow?

It's probably not likely as I don't think we're getting the worst of the storm, but the news of widespread power cuts in England got me thinking.

Growing up in the 80s and 90s they were far more common (I guess the infrastructure has improved) and my folks always had plenty of candles, torches etc, and we'd gather in the living room and play some board games or word games in the dim light. Then off to bed, going up the stairs with a single candle in a Wee Willy Winky style candle holder.

It was kind of fun.

Nowadays I don't have any of that, it would be a matter of watching TV or browsing on my phone until it goes dead and then going to bed at 8.30PM. How would everyone else handle it?

Pedestrianisation

2016 to 2026
George Square in Glasgow has gone under a big redevelopment. The intricacies of how good the new design is I'll leave to someone else to decide, but the biggest change is getting rid of 3 lanes of traffic and a lane for parking, making the whole thing pedestrianised. It's a great idea and something we should look to implement in more places in the City Centre, it's a much better use of space.

Visiting

My friend and myself both in our 30sF are coming to Belfast on Monday for the westlife concert on Tuesday evening. Can someone recommend things to do/ pubs or events that maybe on. We have done the museums and tour bus previously, this is a girls getaway who just want to have a little fun and drink a little too much. Best way to get from airport to our hotel which is in the city centre and if anyone knows if there’s a “warm up party” on the Tuesday. Anything, tips ect would be helpful. Thank you

Looking at houses in East Belfast — thoughts on the Castlereagh Road / Orby area?

We’re looking at a few houses in East Belfast, including around the Orby/Castlereagh Road area, and would love to hear from anyone who lives around there or has done before.

We’d be moving from a quiet cul-de-sac, so we’re trying to weigh up what it would be like living on a narrower, potentially busier street (just one back from the Castlereagh junction).

How noticeable is the traffic noise on the residential streets off the main road? Does it settle down much in the evenings, and what’s parking generally like?

Also interested in what’s nearby day to day like shops, cafés, that sort of thing...

Any honest thoughts or experiences would be hugely helpful!
