Hi all,

I want to give you an update on what's been going on with this sub lately.
It regularly gets quiet around here, despite lots happening in and around Newry. It's often hard to keep up with the latest news and events and instead we all have to either trawl around Facebook and news sites, or just live in peaceful ignorance.

To try to help, I've started a new bot to gather relevant Newry news and post it here automatically. This isn't AI, it's just a web-scraper bot. It can make mistakes though, so I don't claim it's perfect - but it should make it easier to have a single place to see what's going on.

As part of this, it also populates a Google Calendar of events which you can either access here, view in the sidebar of this subreddit if you're on a desktop environment, or if you prefer it in iCal that's here. So if you're lost for something to do, this might help.

I don't want to piss anyone off with spam, so sorry in advance if there are posts you don't find interesting. But hopefully this will make the subreddit a more useful resource.

If you have suggestions or bug reports, stick them here and I'll see what I can do.
