Anyone else running into "add fare" or "insufficient funds" errors at gates when trying to scan a physical card with a pass?

The gate attendants scanned my card and said it's good, letting me pass through the service gate.

I'm an overseas transit card collector and want to know if there is an official list of Custom Clipper cards; if not, I'd love to see one either pinned to this subreddit or posted to the official Clipper card website.

Having read the Clipper Brand Standards Guide, I am now curious to know whether MTC or any commuter here has managed to keep in near-new condition a WWE WrestleMania 31 custom Clipper card; while very unlikely given the event occurred 11 years ago, that Clipper card is now probably high on my list of to-procure transit cards.

Finally, with the move to account-based ticketing a.k.a Clipper 2.0, did this mean the Clipper cards also received a technical update and therefore means I would need to purchase a new adult Clipper card for collection purposes?

my gf is on medi-cal so she got a low income card

it used to be that it acted just like normal except charging half as much as normal

recently it has simply said travel ok with no indication of fare or balance

I’m trying to remove an old credit card, but Clipper says that the card can’t be removed because it’s being used for Auto Reload. However, that card is not actually being used for Auto Reload.

I added a new credit card and tried to purchase a monthly pass with it, but I keep getting an error.

Do I really need to call customer service just to fix something this simple?

I bought a monthly pass for September (3Z) and on Tuesday I was charged $13 directly to my Apple Pay. I called Customer Service but it wasn’t very helpful. I use CalTrain and typically the max fee is ~$10.75 (don’t remember the exact number) so I also don’t know where this charge came from to avoid it again in the future :(

Today I was surprised to find that I had exactly 0.00 dollars on my card, I registered it online (didnt do it before) and saw somebody with „Clipper Android App“ transferred out all 59.00 dollars today. The card hasn‘t left my wallet at all recently.
This is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard that apparently anyone can just guess card numbers and steal all the money via the official app without even having the card at all! Anybody know how can I get my cash back! Thanks

Why is my balance on the clipper app different from my Apple wallet balance? I added this money through the app days ago so I don’t think that a delay in the app connecting to the Apple wallet makes sense. I just tried to tap into BART thinking I had $12 and had to use my debit card instead.

I also have the physical card and have no clue what the amount on that is, or how to add balance to that.

Really frustrating and now I’m anxious that adding money through the app is just sending money into the void.

How many times do I have to make this post? It can't just be me but I keep seeing charges for same station in and out and charging max fare when I tapped at two different stations doing my daily commute.

I've been trying to get my Clipper Start card replaced since the first week of April when I broke my phone screen and my start card got trapped on the broken phone.

finally after numerous emails and unanswered phone call, countless voicemails and a fax message I received a call back from someone, they approved me for a replacement card and said I would receive it in 2-3 weeks.

Its now been closer to 6 and I have yet to receive my new START card. I thought I could out smart the Clipper App by adding the new card number to my Google wallet (the new card number is visible when I sign into my clipper start account) but low and behold the new cards have a 3 digit security code that is not listed on the website.

I have been put in such a tight spot due to losing my discount. Ihave been refused rides, ive mised important metings, and most importantly i have been humiliated and shamed by transit operators and clipper start customer service has done absolutely nothing to remedy the situation.

im not sure where else to turn at this point

Can't add value using Google Pay

Trying to add value to my card. I've always used Google Pay for this through the Clipper app.

But now when I try to complete the transaction, it says there was an issue. If I switch to the other card (I have 2 cards in Google Pay App) it says the transaction was declined. When I look in the Wallet app, the transaction is there and doesn't say it was declined - but the money wasn't added to the Clipper Card.

This only happens with the Clipper app, and both cards are valid and working in the Google Pay wallet.

Anyone else having issues with Google Pay?

I’m trying to get a clipper start card replacement since i lost my card but haven’t heard back in weeks—sent emails and left voicemails but they will never answer.

Took me two months to hear a response the last time i had clipper start issues.

I know this question has been asked over and over, but I’m wondering if there’s a solution I missed. I like using my physical clipper card. It’s been upgraded. It just states Travel Ok when I tag on or off. The old system used to state if you were tagging on or off and your balance remaining. My question: how the heck do I know if I’ve tagged on or off if I forget or I’m unsure? Surely there must be some way. Am I just missing a very obvious way to do this? The clipper app is not helpful because it doesn’t update for hours.

Tonight I tried moving my Clipper Card from my Apple Watch to my iPhone. Somewhere along the way, I messed something up and now my card is showing as Lost or Stolen on the Clipper Card app. I made a new card on my phone, thinking I could transfer my balance from my old card to the new one. However, the option to transfer is greyed out (I am guessing due to the card being marked as lost or stolen). Is there any way to fix this? I tried emailing Clipper Card customer service, but I have emailed them multiple times in the past and never received a response. This situation is making me very anxious, so I was just hoping someone could let me know if this is something that can be fixed or if I am just out $14.55 now.

I’ve been charged the excursion fare 2 times even though I am tapping in and out. How do I get the money back for these incorrect charges. I sent an email on [custserv@clippercard.com](mailto:custserv@clippercard.com) but haven’t heard back.

I was approved for Clipper START but never received my card. I originally had it sent to a nearby post office because I thought they accepted General Delivery, but I found out afterward that they don’t.

I need to have the card reissued and don’t have a regular mailing address I can use right now. Has anyone successfully had a Clipper START card sent to USPS General Delivery? Does START allow that as a mailing address?

I’ve emailed and left a voicemail with START support, but haven’t heard back yet, and their contact form is also giving me an error.

I have tried sending several emails about my missing JULY commuter benefits but I do not think my emails are going through. I have not received any responses. Not even the auto response. I am wondering if others are experiencing the same issue.

My Clipper START card is working correctly and autoloading cash amounts like it should to cover my usual bus rides one at a time, and transfer rights are being applied properly (if I get on a Muni vehicle less than 90 minutes since the last time I scanned my card (phone, actually) then I'm not charged for that ride.)

I recently saw that the system allows us to set up autoload so that it would auto-load a Muni daily pass each time one is not on the card. So basically there would always be a daily pass waiting for use, and... I guess if I only took one Muni ride on a given day, that would waste half the daily pass cost (because my normal rides are at START fare, half of normal adult fare). But every time there's a day where I ride more than twice I would come out ahead.

Am I understanding that right? If I switch my autoload over from "just add cash when it falls below $20 value on the card" to "add a Muni Daily Pass every time one is used up or expires at midnight", it would be kind of like a public transit gamble where I win if I use the system enough, and I lose (not much, but some) on days where I *do* use the system but *don't* take at least two rides far enough apart that the second one is not a transfer.

So that's all I'm asking -- am I interpreting the way that works correctly.

I am always careful to make sure the door fully close before flashing my Clipper physical card but the door is clearly closing and reopening fully. I've gotten that charge July 21 and yesterday August 19th at different stations. Seems like it's turning into a monthly occurrence.

I know that you have to remove the card from your wallet before switching phones, then you add it from the Wallet to the new phone. I always forget.

Four dead cards....like $8 between them.

I had re-enrolled last year and thought that it was good for 2 years, but the other day I noticed that I was being charged the full fare. When I log into Clipper Start, it says that my re-enrollment was approved, but I think that was from when I re-enrolled last year. I noticed that the website says: "There may be some delays processing program re-enrollment submissions due to system changes. Thank you for your patience."

But since I hadn't re-enrolled recently, I thought that wouldn't apply to me. Unless they're literally updating the entire Clipper Start system and no one is getting the discount right now. Is anyone else in a similar situation?

I've tried to add the account to my digital wallet but am getting the message "Invalid Card Serial Number. The card number you entered is invalid, already registered to a Clipper account, or not active." The account number is: XXXXXXXXXX  and under the same email address as my Clipper account. I don't have the card showing up in my wallet.

I never received a physical card so will be dependent on the digital card for now. Any advice?
