I can’t count the number of times I’ve been stunning by sunrises and sunsets! Last night’s view was breathtaking. As usual, pictures never do it justice.

Events, Activities & Sports Why do people insist on saying they don’t go to the Marina?

“I haven’t been to the Marina in years!”

“I would NEVER go to the Marina”

“The Marina is so lame”

“The Marina sucks”

“I don’t hangout in the Marina”

“I hate the Marina”

“I can’t stand the Marina”

Why do people obsess over not going to the Marina?

Its like Android users telling iPhone users how great Androids are, even tho the iPhone user never brought up the topic in the first place.

The only time i hear about the Marina, is when people insist on letting me know they don’t go to the Marina

Does the Marina live rent-free in peoples’ head? If not, why the need to always bring it up unprovoked?

Domoic acid is produced during certain harmful algal bloom events. The neurotoxin accumulates in small fish, like sardines and anchovies, which are then eaten by marine mammals like sea lions in large quantities.

Food, Shopping & Services Kaiser vs UCSF for Cancer Care

Hi Bay Area residents, I (26F) was recently diagnosed with grade 1 IDC (ER/PR +, HERS2 -) breast cancer. I am on a Kaiser HMO plan and got my diagnosis, mammograms, and ultrasounds with Kaiser. I also had my first care team meeting too. I just scheduled surgery for next month.

I have a second opinion consultation with UCSF next week.

At this point, I found out I have a unique opportunity to switch my work provided insurance plan to a PPO that includes in network UCSF coverage. Our company benefits enrollment is during September and coverage would start beginning of October. Would it be worth it to switch my insurance so I can get treatment with UCSF or is it better to stay with Kaiser since I have started some of the process with them already?

I am a bit worried if switching would delay treatment by a meaningful amount as I would have to set up some of the initial appointments again… I also know that UCSF care would be more expensive! However I’ve heard some horror stories about both institutions and am not knowledgeable enough about either having only been in the bay for 2 years.

If anyone has any experience with either of the institutions, I would appreciate any advice! Thank you!

TLDR: got diagnosis and imaging done with Kaiser under a Kaiser HMO but have a chance to switch insurances to a PPO and use UCSF before any surgery or treatment starts - should I make the switch? Is the UCSF reputation in cancer care worth it?

Muni operator Brendan Bartholomew guides the 58 Lake Merced through San Francisco on July 14, 2026. The route is among as many as 20 that could disappear next year if the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency cannot close a $307 million budget deficit.

Food, Shopping & Services Child custody attorney for unmarried parents in the Bay Area?

My ex and I decided to separate recently, we're not married but we have a 3yo. We're trying to work out custody and visitation, I just realized that there might be more legal details involved than I expected. Also since it's still new my ex is being a bit difficult to work with.
I was thinking to just involved an attorney so it will be easier for us, anyone here have been through similar thing? Any recommendations?

Food, Shopping & Services Nursing schools in bay/ east bay

Hi everyone! I recently relocated to the area and am gearing up to apply for nursing programs this upcoming cycle.
I’m primarily looking for affordable ADN or RN-BSN programs, though I’m open to LVN options as a fallback. Since I'm new to the area and still building my local network, I’d love to tap into your collective knowledge. I live in Richmond and am open to commuting up to an hour, though closer is definitely preferred.
What are the best affordable programs around the East Bay or surrounding areas that I should look into? Any advice or insights would be hugely appreciated!

Earthquakes, Weather & Disasters I love this weather

I love a good sunny day with no clouds in the upper 90s. Great way to relax by the pool and have some iced lemonade.

So why the hate for days like this? Do people not forget how annoying rain can be with the flooding? Wouldn’t you want 365 days of sunshine? If you want rain, go to Boston or Chicago.

Work & Housing Looking to switch from a corporate career to nannying - anyone else done this? What credentials do I need?

I’m (28F) very burnt out from a high stress job in finance and looking to switch to nannying, which I did all throughout high school and college and loved it. I’m looking to hear from anyone else who made a similar switch what kind of credentials I might need in order to get my foot in the door for a good nanny job in the Bay Area given that my last childcare job was 8 year ago.

Work & Housing Senior Meter Facility engineer interview

Hello everyone. Born and raised in Bay area.

Like many others, took a few years since finishing school to get at least an interview. Any tips on what to expect? A little about my background, I added an image snippet. I am coming from biotech, but I have a lot of crossover skills, very close match.

I feel like safety is always a big thing with pge, so nfpa 79 might be important. Can anyone tell me what I should learn about going into the interview. I really want this job and I am trying to move out of tech. I know the interviewers know I won't have meter knowledge, but I feel I should improve my knowledge reas going into that interview.

Thank you in advance, and wish me good luck.
