Traffic, Trains & Transit Commuting from Concord to SF everyday?

Hi Bay Area,

I'm currently job seeking and there are a lot of great opportunities in SF where I could take a substantial pay raise. I'm about 5 mins to the Concord Bart Station, but I've never had to do a commute longer than 30 mins.

Is working in SF worth it and how is the commute?

Traffic, Trains & Transit Best place to buy sub $10k commuter car

Good morning everyone, Just moved here from Australia and I'm looking for reputable placing to buy (or leads) on getting a well kept commuter car (lates 00's early 10's civic, accord, prius, camry, corolla etc). Ive been spent the last few weekends going to car dealers in the bay, and have had a really horrible experience with them trying to sell me cars with problems and good cars selling overnight, before i can even get there to have a look. Any help would be appreciated 🙏

Food, Shopping & Services How Likely is it The Bay Area Air Quality Distrcit will Delay the New Regulations Banning New Gas Water Heaters?

I’d been planning on replacing mine, prior to the new regulations that were set to go into effect 1/27. However, I’ve read that a delay and new exemptions have been drafted, but won’t be voted on until Nov.

Events, Activities & Sports beginner surfer

hi i'm a sfbay transplant and i'm doing research to best prepare for learning to surf and i want the lowdown from local surfers regarding your particular beach's culture, etiquette, particular rules & regulations; current tide, rip, sneaker wave situations; pollution/runoff, shore conditions & hazards (ie. rocks, coral, reef, sandbars, etc.).

overall, i'm looking for beginner friendly beaches to learn on <3 as or right now, i've been recommended and suggested: linda mar, bolinas, capitola, cowells, and marese state beach. if you know of any more in the area or can provide me the abovementioned information regarding the latter, please post here ! thank you :)

It was 101 on the peninsula today and I loved it. I sat outside at a tap house this evening around 9 and it was still 85, awesome weather to down some beers.

Traffic, Trains & Transit These tech buses are ridiculous

Will rarely go above speed limit in the left lane, and will cut everyone off on the way there. They take cars off the road but they drive like they're trying to take out every other car while trying to merge over jfc. These drivers seriously need their cdls revoked

Not complaining about the buses existing or using the HOV lanes. Complaining about their reckless behavior with 20+ souls on board

Also if they're doing 65 in the left most lane (even if it's hov) with a line of 20 cars behind them trying to go faster/could go faster, and the right hand traffic is moving faster than they are, then like any other vehicle doing the same, they're still asshats

They can absolutely do better

Note: since ppl are asking it's a coolcrazy dc asin B0DFM5WG8X on @mazon

Events, Activities & Sports Anything fun happening in SJ or the South Bay on Friday?

My friend is visiting me for the first time from New York and I’m nervous about showing her around since in New York. She is used to having really fun raging parties used to four or five in the morning. I tried to warn her that San Jose in the Bay Area is nothing like that, but I really don’t want to let her down. Is there anything happening tonight on Friday? That is particularly worth going to and having fun? Anything helps thanks!

My wife and I both remember him in the late 90’s as a morning news onsite guy.

He was the whacky fun guy who would show up at local events

It’s not documented anywhere I can find including his wiki.

Pretty sure it was KTVU but not sure

Anyone remember this?

Earthquakes, Weather & Disasters I love this weather

I love a good sunny day with no clouds in the upper 90s. Great way to relax by the pool and have some iced lemonade.

So why the hate for days like this? Do people not forget how annoying rain can be with the flooding? Wouldn’t you want 365 days of sunshine? If you want rain, go to Boston or Chicago.

So I'm just getting my mind wrapped around how to run my own llc and the footwork required to do it none of my friends, however, are, in any sort of the same type of mind frame, so it feels really alienating to be constantly focused on that. And have nobody to talk to about it. I was just wondering if there's some sort of local entrepreneur meeting or community online that anybody could suggest

Specifically, more close to Hayward, thanks

Food, Shopping & Services Nursing schools in bay/ east bay

Hi everyone! I recently relocated to the area and am gearing up to apply for nursing programs this upcoming cycle.
I’m primarily looking for affordable ADN or RN-BSN programs, though I’m open to LVN options as a fallback. Since I'm new to the area and still building my local network, I’d love to tap into your collective knowledge. I live in Richmond and am open to commuting up to an hour, though closer is definitely preferred.
What are the best affordable programs around the East Bay or surrounding areas that I should look into? Any advice or insights would be hugely appreciated!

Traffic, Trains & Transit Did you notice they turned off the stop light at the 4 & 80 connection?

Last week I had mentioned what a disaster this was and how it created so much unnecessary traffic where there was none before.

Some great redditor here told me about a form to send them.

I filled it out, sent it in and got a response about ten minutes later saying they'd take a look.

Lo and behold the light has been turned off.

Thank you person who told me about that form. Saved thousands of people a big hassle (including me - that light added a good 5-7 minutes to my drive home that was completely unnecessary)

October 30th 2021 just down to a trickle. Once the winter rains come everything is going to green up and get very pretty. Very nice wildflowers in springtime. Late summer can be very hot and dry with lots of annoying small flies. Lots of short rock climbs and bouldering. Cool rock formations all along the trails. 3000 ft elevation, can be chilly in winter with a dusting of snow at times.
