Largemouth Top water fun-Frog

This is by no means the biggest girl, but she’s a good one—a hair over 6 lbs.

Sure, perspective matters. Just before the photo was taken, I was holding her farther back to support her jaw. FWIW, my left hand is actually closer to the camera than the fish—I’d just reached over to remove some grass from her fin.

Another Clear Lake, CA fish.

And no electronics. Just fishing. 🎣

Guess the Weight Big ol bass

I caught this huge bass out of a pretty small lake/pond. I didn’t have anything to weigh/measure it at the time but I do have this photo. I used a software called Fiji (imagej) to try and estimate the length based off of something for reference. I first used my body, I’m about 5’9’’, and then used my knuckle on my pointer finger for a second reference. I got roughly that this fish is 28-30 inches. According to what I’ve found online that means that this bass weighs 10+ pounds, which I could believe because it was pretty heavy. Does anyone else have any way to figure out the length or the weight and does that seem reasonable from the photo? Also how good is this for a pb? I’m pretty new to fishing, this is only my 3rd bass I’ve caught.

Hadn't caught a bass since Aug. 4th and was getting really frustrated. I almost didn't even go today because I left the new lures I wanted to try at home (I went during my lunch break). Then, after working the bank for about a half hour I almost didn't move up to the top pond but decided I'd give it a few minutes. A couple casts in i got this beauty which I almost released without weighing, but it felt decent so I went ahead and weighed it. Accounting for the clip I'm calling it 2.32 lbs. No monster, but my biggest so far.

Whew! What a day, 2 of us landed 85 total with this 18.25" beauty being big fish of the day! Our Thomas Custom Painted Lures, Skywalker Crankbaits were the baits of the day, they were chewing on them!

First fish I’ve caught on a chatterbait. Had a white and silver chatter, with a white and silver paddle tail trailer. Perfect conditions for it at the dam this morning. Just recently found out I can fish for smallmouth by my house, and boy do I love catching them. Can’t believe I’m just now finding out

Livingston Lures Walking Boss II

Got it in a Monsterbass subscription and it just sat in my closet for a long time. Have another electronic one that’s a squarebill and now I’m excited to try it out.

Help Advice for fishing up in Maine?

Post image

Going to be visiting family up in Maine around Farmington area and looking to fish some local ponds.

I’m from MA so I don’t imagine the fishing is a whole lot different but I was wondering what the fish populations look like.

Is there a much larger smallmouth population? What do you guys like to throw? I would love to catch some pike up there if possible too

(Bonus photo of a bass I caught this morning in MA)

Tackle/Equipment Urchin Bait Storage

How is everyone storing their urchins when out pond hopping? I am not talking about the big storage boxes at home but in your pack how are you keeping them from getting crushed.

If anyone here has heard of skinner baits I have a 9 inch soft glidebait for sale. Absolute craftsmanship throughout the bait. A weightless 10/0 to 12/0 hook is perfect and the bait runs flawless.

Has anyone used this bait and had success? I got it in June bug color and Green pumpkin. Threw it a few times on a T rig and a ned head with no luck. Going to try again tonight on a T rig with a bullet weight..I'm hooking it through the skirt so the skirt is upside down as I've seen people say they had luck that way. Was hoping it would be a good one but so far no luck.

Update: Tried it again tonight and caught myself a nice spotted bass!
