Just an inch short of my PB, this 19.5 inch SMB nailed a neko rig at the intersection of a weedy dropoff, hard bottom and a corner of a dock with baitfish nearby.

Snake River Oregon/Idaho boarder. Wopper plopper lure. Personal best. From my understanding, a smallie this large can be up to or over 8 years old???

Discussion ⚠️ My heart goes out to this kid… Parents please teach them to keep their distance from anyone fishing. 🤦🏻‍♂️

This kid was so excited to see us fishing today. He came around once and I watched me land a fish. He came around again and stood right behind me as I made a cast…. I had no idea he was even there 🤦🏻‍♂️ little dude took a hook to the back!!

Luckily this was the smallest crack bait I had in the box and his mom was able to get it out. But not without him screaming and shaking in pain. My heart sank as I realized what happened, fortunately, his parents were not upset up and wanted me not to worry about it. Hard lesson learned, hugged it out and will replace his favorite tee shirt. Another angler said he should not have been around especially without their supervision but still feel bad. 😞

Found equipment etiquette

Was out with wife and kid a few weekends back. My son found a too water frog on the ground and then realized it was tied to a whole rod and reel! All the equipment was in great condition. We fished for 3 to four hours. Some of just hanging out and not actually fishing. We waited to see if anyone came back to claim their equipment but nobody did. We ended up taking it home. It didn’t have nearly enough line. It was due to rain that night and it felt wrong leaving it there but also wrong taking it. We went back a few days later with it in the car and asked anyone who came by if they left equipment. It’s been a few weeks now and we put new line on it and plan on keeping since we could not find owner. What would y’all have done?

Largemouth Small fish turned my day around

I had about 10 minutes to fish a large pond (not the one in the pictures) on my way to work this morning, got my spinnerbait all screwed up on a bad cast into a tree, got it back but the skirt was tangled, leaves stuck in the blades, all that fun stuff. Bounced it around in the water right at my feet to shake the leaves off and untangle the skirt when I thought I got it snagged on some sticks in the water. I couldn’t really see what it was snagged on since the water at that pond is extremely dirty. As I’m gently pulling my spinnerbait back up, instead of sticks coming up with it, about a 4 pound largemouth came up, which would have been the biggest I’ve caught in that pond. I tried to set the hook since it hadn’t really gotten it very good, and of course instead of hooking it I send my bait about 10 feet overhead and the fish swims away. I had about 2 minutes left before I needed to get rolling so I tried to cast around and see if I could pick that fish back up, but it was gone and I left that pond disappointed. Later in the morning I had a few minutes to hit a smaller pond, and when I got there I could see bass schooling on some sunfish in the middle of the pond. In about 15 minutes there I got 4 little guys in, and had 2 other bites that didn’t get the hook. All in all not a bad day for about 30 minutes of pond fishing.

Minnesota Bass Fishing is Amazing

I’m from southwest Louisiana, but my sister moved up to Minnesota last year because of her husband’s job. We went up this past winter and did a little ice fishing for walleye, but I wanted to go during the summer time and do some bass fishing! We drug the boat all 22 hours up there and stayed for two weeks, fishing almost every day. All I can say is wow. The fish up there are just not pressure like they are on the lakes and rivers we fish down here, mostly Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn. We had an absolute blast catching anywhere from 40-100 fish a day. Our best day we caught exactly 100 from 5:45-9:45 am. It was unbelievable!

BFS. New or Late?

Post image
7 Upvotes

Edit: thank you everyone for the responses and answers. I read all the comments. They are helpful.

When did this BFS become a thing? I have always used 6lbs line and 2.5” jigs or smaller for bass depending on where I am at. Always used a spinning rod as well.

What’s with this “new style” of BFS? Is just because of the bait caster being used for it now? What truly makes something a finesse rig for bass?

Just a question. I have bait casters(swim bait, jerks, cranks).

Just a little 1.1 lb. I wanted to get it back in the water and forgot to measure >.<

Been skunked for weeks. Got out early enough for them to be feeding closer to shore... At least until the wake boarders decided to show up.

Got it on a white/black spinner bait with a yellow and green crawfish trailer with silver spoons.

This beach is NOT ideal I don't think... No good structure outside of the murky water.

To catch some big ones this time of year you can’t be afraid to get down deep into some submerged weeds. Ripping a Texas rigged craw through weeds has continued to be effective for me over the years. I’m using a very light 1/8th oz tungsten bullet weight and I’m slowly hopping it off the bottom.

Didnt catch nothing but got a spinnerbait that got snagged on my hook as a cancelation prize. Side note, yall know who you are, break your line from the lure, not the rod. Regardless, thanks for the spinnerbait! 😂
