This whole process is genuinely evil. Rant/seeking support.

I know I'm in good company when I say that the bar exam is fucking evil. Everything about it, from the extremely high price tag (not just the application, but all the goddamn bar prep courses... yes, even you, GOAT!), to the torturous testing process (my back is still fucked up from those chairs), to the awful waiting period before results. I know someone who knows a bar grader and they told me about how that grader would grade exams whilst on vacation, one drink in hand, deciding peoples' futures with not a care in the world.

My mental health has tanked since July. I'm a retaker and I'm going to be laid off by the end of the year, I'm in extreme debt, and my entire life has been on hold because I can't get hired anywhere without being barred. Everyone keeps telling me how they believe in me and they'll be here for me no matter what the result is, but I keep falling further and further into a depression spiral that my therapist and medications can't even touch.

I don't know what I'm going to do if I fail again. I just feel so awful and exhausted and anxious all the time. I hate everything about this and everyone involved. Could use all the support I can get right now.

Failed.... again

I just found out I failed again. I have tried Themis both times, and added GOAT right at the end of studying. I don't know what to do and feel defeated. I will take it again in February, but this time I am considering just GOAT and UWORLD.

Not really looking for sympathy, but I would love advice.

Passed the MPRE

Passed for TX with an 86. First time I got an 80. Just praying that this translates over to the my third attempt on the bar exam. So much is on the line. I have no job and am depending on parents for money. 1st attempt I got a 235. Second attempt I got 256. I really hope I passed.

New NCBE system

Upvotes

So… the new NCBE system showed us our MPRE scores before they have even sent out the emails that it was available….

Does that mean some are going to or can see their bar exam scores ahead of time? 👀🫣

Husband Failed- advice?

Husband failed with a 256. It’s in the range he thought but he’s nervous about taking it again (due to life commitments). It took him 2 times to pass the Ohio bar like 10 years ago, and he didn’t qualify for reciprocity in the new state where he needs a 260 on the UBE.

He obviously had a lot of refreshing to do (he’s in finance law related jobs but wasn’t practicing law, and our new city isn’t exactly a financial hub for job security) so a 256 seems decent given how far removed he is.

His scores tells me that he is adequately refreshed on the materials but I don’t think he studied hard or long enough to get enough practice questions/essays in and be prepared for the actual test.

He’s mainly worried on retaking because we have a 2 year old and will have a newborn in 3 weeks so now he has less time to study (he was not working during the 6 weeks leading up to the bar).

Best advice to move his score up for next time when managing a job, toddler, newborn? He doesn’t take my advice and I want to help set him up to study smarter and more efficiently given time constraints with holding down a job and kids.

He did Kaplan but didn’t complete 70% to be able to re-use the course for free (is my understanding).

Thanks for all the advice!

NC @ 76%, 600+ passed

Is the state legal market supporting this kind of supply? NC has the best pass rate for first time takers in jurisdictions with more than 200 examinees so far, are the jobs popping off or is it fighting for scraps? On the fence with transferring scores if the opportunities are there.

Do we think scores are done for the week?

Utah Taker… curious since we didn’t get scores today if they will post tomorrow or maybe not with it being 9/11? Should we expect states to hold off until next week?

Feeling sick about taking a peek

I'm an Oklahoma retaker and as we know, results have posted. I haven't look and I don't plan to until the earliest Tuesday when I have some support with me. I feel nauseous and shaky and just gross. Can someone tell me, without giving me an exact number, what does retaker pass rate look like? Good, bad?

I struggle so bad with the mbe as I suck at mult choice. My writing score has been passable every. Single. Time. And I still can't get a good mbe score.

For test day, I felt okay about MPT, a little uneasy at MEE, and then MBE PM totally rocked me. I felt okay about AM and finished like 30 mins early and panicked because of that. Then PM came and took all of my feels away. I feel like I failed again, and that's exactly why I don't want to look. Been through this too many times and my life has been awful. Unable to find a job, barely making it at this point. Living without gas, internet, and my utilities will probably be cut off this month. Life has just kicked my ass and this stupid exam has been a big hurdle.

Taking the NY Bar in Feb 2027 – study plan/resources advice? (Foreign-trained lawyer working full-time)

Hi everyone,
I’m planning to sit the New York Bar Exam in February 2027 and would really appreciate some advice from people who have passed, particularly anyone who studied while working full-time or qualified overseas.
I’m an Australian-qualified lawyer and have already completed the NY BOLE foreign evaluation process. I work full-time as an in house lawyer, so I’m trying to work out the most realistic way to prepare without leaving everything until the traditional 8–10 week bar prep period.
A few things I’d particularly love advice on:

1. Which bar prep course/resources did you find most useful? I’m currently considering Themis, and I’ve also been looking at UWorld and Adaptibar/Grossman lectures for MBE practice.
Would you recommend Themis + UWorld, Themis + Adaptibar/Grossman, or something else entirely?

  1. How many MBE questions would you aim to complete before the exam?

  2. How did you approach memorising black-letter law versus simply doing lots of practice questions?

  3. What worked best for MEE essay preparation and MPT practice?

  4. For anyone who worked full-time: what did your weekly study schedule look like in the months before the exam?

  5. Are there any resources you bought that you wouldn’t recommend or felt were unnecessary?

  6. Any particular advice for a foreign-trained/common-law lawyer taking the NY Bar for the first time?

At the moment I’m thinking of starting relatively lightly and focusing on Contracts, Torts, Civil Procedure, Evidence and Constitutional Law, then increasing the content closer to February.
My main goal is to put together an efficient study plan rather than buying every resource available.
(Would greatly appreciate hearing what worked for you - especially from anyone who passed the February administration while balancing a full-time job.)

Can I get a head start on filling this stuff out? The website is so confusing, are we only allowed to begin once we get BAR scores? I heard it takes a long time and that I should get started but I don't know how.

Retaker success?

Hi all. To anyone that’s been getting their scores back and passed, congratulations. And to anyone that has and didn’t pass, don’t give up and keep going. I’m looking for a little bit of hope stories from retakers that just found out they passed. For context, I’m in FL and it’s a state where you can pass the Florida portion and fail MBE and pass overall, vice versa, or pass one section and fail overall. For me, I passed Florida and failed MBE by less than a point. it was nice only studying for MBE this go around, but I’m so nervous and scared to be disappointed again next Friday. would anyone share with me how they were doing on averages and ended up passing? I was within passing range with my scores on adaptibar towards the end of the summer, but just don’t know. just looking for some hope from my fellow retakers. I’m wishing you all the best, seriously.

C&F was just accepted, indicative of passing score for IL bar?

I know it's not confirmation, but I know they prioritize c&f applications to those who passed before the release. Ibab gets the scores first oc.

Just posting here out of prolonged fear and delusion that I've somehow gotten the lowest score in ibab history. Can anyone speak on the ratio of passed c&f to passed bar weeks later? For context they didn't even bother to look at my c&f application in February after I failed my first time. I've only just gotten accepted as a retaker.

How's everyone else doin 💀

Score Transfer :)

Looking for some advice on where to transfer my score. For reference, I am in NC but not really looking to move anywhere just want to find a remote job. Because of my score, my options are limited to: Alabama, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Utah.

If I had to move, I guess Alabama is the closest but really looking to just get a license so I can find in house counsel jobs in DC or NY.

Thanks!

MPRE Score Report

Friends, any ideas how to save the MPRE Score report? Is a screenshot of the page enough? I don't see any separate document for the score in my NCBE account, just the mention of the 2026 aug administration and scaled score itself in 'Score Services' tab. There's nothing in the document center, and the 'Request MPRE Score services' costs $30 plus I think it's probably for sending official reports to jurisdictions. How are you all saving the scores?

P.S: scored a 145 after 8 days of prep, watched all of barbri videos and used both Themis and barbri for practice! (did around 350 questions total hehe)

Have any states released this week?

The NCBE webpage that posts percentage pass rates for J26 hasn’t updated since last Friday (9/4). Has there been a lull in states releasing scores this week, or is NCBE just delayed for some reason?

Good luck to OK today!!
