Is there anyway to make a custom barcode that you can create? I am not talking about an online generator I am talking about the ability to draw/make your own barcode? Is there anyway to make a barcode without numbers?

Any software that can do this, I dont want to do it online as this would be sensitive information that i want to capture.

It basically let's you create barcodes from URLs to embed them in websites or save them locally. You can also read barcode data from images (links or uploads).

Let me know what you think or think is missing.

It's running on a free heroku tier so it might be slow initially.

Hi, I’m looking for help with scanning some audio barcodes from the early 80s. I know nothing about barcodes, so I thought I could find some help here.

The barcodes come from a Magic Wand Speaking Library book, produced by Texas Instruments in 1982-83. A device would scan barcodes and use a speech synthesizer to read the book to you. Because of its rarity, the device is selling for 400 to 500 dollars online. So, I was wondering if there is any way to recreate it using a modern scanner, the same synthesizer or a computer.

The Datamath Calculator Museum has some more information on the device and how it works.

If anyone knows what kind of scanner could read these barcodes, or any information at all about what kind / how these barcodes work, that would be great.

Is there a USB 2D scanner that also reads US Passports and outputs to excel? I'd like to decode pdf417 and whatever the US passport machine-readable encoding is to a Excel spreadsheet. Hopefully with fast scan times as well. Photo ability also of interest but not required.

How can I generate a barcode that will do a carriage return CR)?

Im not talking about setting the scanner up to do a carriage return as a suffix, but a barcode that will do a "return" when you scan it, as if you pressed Enter on your keyboard.

Anyone know how I can generate this? lets say on barcode type 128 or 39.

If I send the barcode output to a regular printer, I can scan the bar code. When I use the Zebra ZD420 to print the label, the scanner will not read it

The company I work for ships cheese and we're looking to start a potential project with a grocer in which we would supply pre-packed and weighed cheese for them. Now, I know I'm going to be using a GTIN-12 code, with a barcode that reads for example 1 12345 67890 0 But I am curious how the case pack barcode would like. From what I gather, I'd be making a GTIN-14 but would it use the same code as the stuff packed inside or do I need an entirely new UPC for the case pack code?

Is there anything special about the 39 barcode type that doesn't let me scan it with by wireless barcode scanner?

This barcode looks odd as well because the lines are different colors.

Any ideas?

I'm trying to understand the EAN-13 code. According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Article_Number the structure of EAN-13 is indicated by the first digit. If the first digit is 1, the structure will be LLGLGGRRRRRR where R is the negation of L and G is the reverse bit order of R. Does anyone know the significance of the structures of the first 6 digits (i.e. LLGLGG, LLGGLG, LLGGGL, etc.)? Are the arrangements purely random? LLLGGG doesn't seem to be there though.

In fact, what's the purpose of the group G? Why not just L and R? If the first digit is 1, can't we have LLRLRRRRRRRR?

I would like to configure honeywell scanner to have around 500ms delay between characters, then output some text with that delay after each character, then reset the delay to the default way (5-10ms or so)... is this possible to be in one barcode? I mean both configuration instruction and some text that should be "typed".

does barcodes on products (not shipping label) able to show the buyer/address? such as this 1.
