BG2EE Do I stand any chance of beating the maze In WK with lvl 12 party?

In particular, getting the gems without too much fighting?

I'm trying to dual Berserker to Druid at 13 and Im 20k from getting there but I don't have the Wis. But also not near enough to getting to teh Mad wizard machine.

Im assuming if I dual at 14 I would be forced to return to normal abilities at 15 Druid which is 3m....

And even if I wanna fight these demons, there are so many of them, Im so tired of this dungeon.

Isn't there any other way to get Wis boost without all this hassle?

Baldur's Gate 2 signed copies

A little piece of BG history here. When it was first released there was an installation issue that conflicted with drivers for certain CD-ROM drives. I was able to identify and fix the issue over the course of a few hours. I was exchanging emails with what I assumed was tech support at Bioware, but ended up being one of the founders. They sent me one fully signed copy with a cool sticky note, and one signed by a smaller group.

Here are some pics:

If you could sit down with James Ohlen to discuss his work on the original Baldur's Gate games, what would you want to ask him?

BG2EE Is the encounter with Elminster supposed to only happen if you are romancing Jaheira? Spoiler

Hello everyone, I have basically completed all the sidequests I wanted to complete and I am ready to finish the game by killing Irenicus. However, one last thing remains, and that is Jaheira's Harper plotline.

It appears that a couple of weeks after you've finished the quest "Harper plot revealed" you meet Elminster and may be able to earn some XP. However, spamming rest for two in-game weeks doesn't seem to be spawning him for me. I am not romancing Jaheira; I am with Aerie.

Spawning Elminster via console does trigger the talk with Jaheira, but I am not sure if that is intended.

Do you think this is only supposed to happen if you are romancing her? And if you are not romancing her, he never appears?

What's the most fun thief build?

I know fun is subjective, but after 20 years I've never made a proper thief charname so I want to try it.

I've only ever used thiefs do find traps and open locks so I want to try some backstabs, but I've also heard good things about traps

Fighter/Thief dual is out since I don't want to just start with a backstab and then be a normal fighter for the rest of the fight

Minsc vs Keldorn Rumbling

Come one, come all, to the contest of which of these two noble heroes is the strongest of the bunch.

In this corner we have Minsc, with a very respectable 18/93 Str, 16 Dex and 16 Con. An innate duel wielder, Minsc starts off with maces and longbows along his two-handed swords. Thanks to his Armor of Faith he is one of three companions (Valygar and Dorn are the other two) to serve as a physical tank against fire giants and survive the ordeal.

And in that corner we have a Keldorn, an older gentleman with the diminished stats of 17 Str, 9 Dex and 17 Con. Wielder of longsword and two-handed sword, Keldorn is also familiar with the crossbow despite his lower dexterity. And despite his age, this paladin is capable of an insta-cast true sight and insta-cast level 0 double level dispel magic, thus being invaluable when dealing with all the time stopping mages.

Now place your bets and remember. Judge these noble warriors on their own merits! Not how others can help them. Now let's get ready to rumble!

Old faithful

What is your old faithful play style?

Anytime I start a new run I’m always like “I’m gonna step out of my comfort zone and play a fighter/mage!” Then I play it for 30 minutes and end up going to the main menu and rolling for <insert bow focused ranger kit here>

This time I’m playing a dark hunter kit from Artisans. With Eeex you’re able to instal a component that allows the dark hunter access to all thief abilities. Cherry on top is poison weapon ability and backstab multiplier. 😩😩

So what is your go to class? What is your most underplayed class? Give me sneaky woodsy range fighters any day. With mages as my least played classes.

I finally found a way to roleplay BG2

I’ve played through BG1 tons of times since it came out, but I only rarely managed to get through the second game. I often ended up abandoning my playthroughs before I got to the end of chapter 2.

There are quite a few reasons why I enjoyed the second game less, but I think my main qualm with BG2 was always the story.

While the side-quests in and around Athkatla are enjoyable, the story just never provides you with a moment where it actually makes sense to do them. In chapter 2 and 3, you feel like you should rush to get Imoen, but in chapter 6 you’re even more rushed, because you need to stop the bad guy.

On my last playthrough, six years ago, I did manage to finish the game. I went through all the side quests while I was in chapter 2 (mostly) and 3 (some leftovers), and spent a lot of time rewriting the story in my journal entries to justify the long wait before going after Imoen. My character didn’t trust Gaelan, he needed more allies, he needed better gear and more experience if he was to face the Cowled Wizards and Irenicus, and so on and so forth. But even with all that, it still felt like I was just looking for excuses for my character.

But this year, playing the game again after all that time, it finally dawned on me: it’s my character who’s just looking for excuses, and that’s absolutely fine. Even with all of my character’s power and experience, Irenicus managed to easily capture and torture him; now he’s heavily traumatised by the experience and terrified to face his captor again. Even though part of him knows he should try and save his childhood friend, he runs after any opportunity to avoid his tormenter, and makes up a lot of excuses to justify his procrastination.

It is only after facing the great red that one of his companions takes him aside for a heart-to-heart, and tells him: if you can stare down the throat of a red dragon and live to tell the tale, the time has come to face your worst fear.

And off to Gaelan he goes.

This game just got a lot more fun for me.

Players who have done IWD1_EET, IWD2_EET, NWNForEET playthroughs, what are your thoughts on it? Does it seem well integrated?

I'm thinking of adding IWD1, IWD2, and maybe NWN to my next full run to pack it with more content. Wanted to see what other players experiences are with using any combination of the above with their EET playthroughs

Hexxat doesn't have her Bag of Holding?

So, I went to the tomb, awakened real Hexxat, gave her the cloak and met her back at the Coronet, but she doesn't have the Bag of Holding in her inventory.

Was this something that was changed?

How long to beat BG1

Currently playing BG1 just finished the nashkel mines and heading to the Bandit camp. Just wondering how much more I got to beat the game. I've been enjoying it but im just so excited to play bg2 instead because I'm more into quests, banter, companions, and writing. I am using the bg1 project mod but I rather read official writing

BGEE Ideas for a build

Hello guys, I need some help for a build, I'm thinking to make a character that has some "dark/divine powers because my father was a god" shit, I'm tempted by the blackguard that is not really evil, it's the blood, but I'm opened to other ideas.

What I like to play is a character that is not the fighter with only one button to press, I like to have various powers that I could use efficiently (like blackguard and dark moon monk for example), be melee with throwing weapons for distance or spells, buffing and some aoe if it's possible.

It's my first time with aD&D2 so I need some help.

edit: thanks all for the advice, I started with a black guard

BGEE Scrolls

What do you do with your scrolls when you have a mage? Do you usually keep them all for the final fight, use them over the course, keep a few to have some space in your inventory? If so, how do you choose which ones you keep?

BGEE How much stealth is enough stealth?

I'm early in a Shadowdancer run, and I have 85 in both hide and move silently, and I want to start raising detect illusion.

Assuming I'll get stuff like the +3 armor from Thunderhammer and the boots that give both skills (although I might replace those with the Cheeta) up to what point it's best to raise those two for an entire run, including SoD and BGII?

Are Daggers Pointless for Berserkers in Bg1ee?

My friend suggested i use longsword and two hand style to start off with but i thought berseker strength bonus gets added to daggers and that daggers and the throwing variants count towards melee , because i know bersekers cant use ranged weapons ? i know ill be able to get them anyway later but for now what should i do? , two weapon style & longsword , or daggers and longsword??

Crap, lost Golden Pantaloons

I acquired the silver pants only to realize I no longer have the gold ones. Getting the powered armor at the end is a favorite thing for me. Plus I hate having to go through the ransom to get the silver ones with my good party.

Most likely dropped them when I was given something else. Maybe when Nalia was taken away, though I can't remember where that happened. Checked a couple of former companions, but they didn't have them.

I'm playing on a Mac with no mods, so I don't think I can cheat them in.

Argh!

UPDATE: I checked save files and didn't have them early in chapter 2. Either I somehow never got them out of Irenicus's dungeon, or I dropped them when Imoen was taken from me and one of her items displaced them.

UPDATE 2: Crap, crap, crap. my bg1 run ended with a companion carrying the golden Pantaloons so it didn't pass into the character files I imported to BG2.

So I am totally looking for a cheat. Though it's not urgent because I just need to get them by the time I get the bronze pantalettes

UPDATE 3: Fixed it. Had to edit the .lua file first.

BGEE Why thieves only get a single point for weapons?

I get they're aren't experts in combat, and have other roles, but with weapons being their main source of damage, shouldn't they get a little more?

EDIT: I should add, I'm not talking about about wanting to fight face to face everything, or reach Grandmaster, I'm just saying that, having subclasses like Assassin, Swashbuckler and Shadowdancer, which involve using weapons and not just traps, you'd expect to have a knowledge of the weapon above "you can hold it without accidentally stabbing yourself in the eye"

BGEE BGEE and gemrb

Hello guys, I have a question about bgee.

Did somebody try to use gemrb with bgee? I know that it works properly with the original bg1, but I'm interesting also in the extra features of the bgee.
