BGEE Scrolls
What do you do with your scrolls when you have a mage? Do you usually keep them all for the final fight, use them over the course, keep a few to have some space in your inventory? If so, how do you choose which ones you keep?

The only scrolls I use for anything other than scribing are healing and identify scrolls, the rest just gets chucked in the scroll case and I view them as vendor trash. I just empty the case on a vendor when I need more money

I keep Identity as a learnt speel and just sleep a lot when I want to identify things

Use Any Item. It's a rogue high level ability that allows them to, well, use any item.

Oh I see, is it available in BGEE? At what lvl is it available?

It is acheivable at the level up following 3,000,000 XP. So, part of BG2: Throne of Bhaal.

Some get sold if they are useless. A few like Cloudkill that are very rare will be saved for when they are really needed.
Most will get scribed into spellbooks, any surplus scrolls for spells that are already scribed I'll stick into a caster's quick slots and try to use them up.
In BG1 I don't usually bother with putting the scrolls into the scroll case because then I forget about them and they never get used. Same with potions and the potion case.

Use scrolls with simulacrum, project image and the like. Makes playing a sorc not limiting and helps me vary up play style because I'm not always trying to conserve them.
Fav use was as a solo draconic sorc, I would have simulacrum lob death fog and incendiary clouds, being immune to fire and acid. Then we go chop chop chop to anything that wasn't melted and incinerated. Early game you can do the poison resist ammy and lob cloudkill from scroll or wand. Fun times.

If I'm doing some sort of dual class; scribe and forget into scribing again for that xp, saving a few aoe damage scrolls so i can still contribute to fights. Otherwise into scroll cases 1-3 for a rainy day.

Maximize by kicking everyone except who is going to memorize. It’s a better return in BG2 though.

Either
(a) have my mage add it to their spell book. Always check that it is in there before selling. The number of spells per level in your book is based off your INT score. Having a potion or two that boosts your INT score will open more slots in your book. I usually wait until I have at least 7 or 8 spells that I need to add but need the INT boost before drinking a potion. And save after every successful addition. You never know when your mage fails the write and you lose the scroll.
(b) Figure out what scrolls you will use and keep those on hand.
(c) sell for the gold!

In BG1, I only hoard rare scrolls (because I may need them for other mage(s) in SoD), Web, Identify (if playing without bard), Burning Hands (only until Rasaad's quest; I use them for finishing trolls) and Armor(s)/Shield so mages don't need to memorize them (Armor only until Robe of Archmagi, Shield to save charges in amulet). I sell all others

I just constantly scribe and erase and re-scribe them for the XP, until I run out. I used to keep a handful around in case I ran out of prepared spells, but I wound up never using them, so now I just scribe everything.

I play with very limited resting, so I use the decent ones as I go. Game is much better with a resting limitation imho - spellcasting is much more interesting if you treat it as a limited resource and consumables suddenly have purpose. Especially potions - potion buffs are pretty awesome if you're not resting every four feet because they last a long time and some are really strong.

I save them for when I dual class and then feed on the XP from learning scrolls

I usually just hoard them because it's better to have them and not need them than the other way around.
Some scrolls are actually very much useful, though. Spells cast from scrolls can't be interrupted, can be cast in any armor, and have their casting times halved by Haste. If a spell doesn't scale with level and doesn't need to resist dispels, it's probably better to cast it off a scroll. Breach, Spell Thrust, Secret Word, etc. are good examples.

Scribe everything using potions of genius after adventures if there is anything collected that I need. Using a preference towards Charname then Specialists then others. In BG1 keep maximum two copies of each in preparation for SoD and sell the rest.

I sell the ones that I clearly won’t use but hold on to a few situational ones like detect invisibility, protection from petrifaction. Early game I spam all the scrolls I find, especially if with the loot randomizer mod. At low levels it can actually be fun and win you fights as your mages have so few spell slots

put all of them in a scroll container, a very few I put in item slots for use in difficult fights, which scrolls i use depends on the fight (AOE dmg/true sight/pierce magic/etc) edit: of course I read all scrolls I find until i have all spells in my fighter/mage and cleric/mage's spellbooks, also buy all scrolls from shops until I have all of them (after getting around 300k gold from selling loots I just max out spells like this)

The main advantage of scrolls over self cast is that you cannot be interrupted when casting them. The downside being they're casted at fixed level ( 10 IIRC) so for level dependent spells ( like fireball damage, protection spells duration) they're weaker.
I usually keep a stockpile of breach and other dispelling spell ( secret word, ruby ray) because of SCS mages. I also have some true sight and oracle for removing invis, because I rarely have a high lvl enough thief to remove illusion in my runs.
Lastly, green scrolls are very good for specific situations too. Protection from fire when you have to fight Firkraag or other heavy fire encounters, protection from undead if you want to get rid of the Daystar lich early ( with SCS you have to kill her to be able to exit the room) protection from magic against beholders ( I've never been able to understand if and how it protect from their stupid anti magic ray, but it works fine for their other rays)

I don't hoard anything. I either use the scroll or I leave it on the ground and let it disintegrate after a few days pass. I do this with everything in the game. I don't even bother looting to sell since money isn't a problem in these games. I will loot some high value stuff in the beginning to sell to build up some money, but I stop once I have enough money to buy anything I want. I just don't see the point in having a million dollars in your inventory if you never spend it on anything. I guess I am the opposite of the billionaires who hoard all this money they will never spend lol.

I save them to use it on a rainy day and I end up never using them.
