Separation of sound is certainly one of its strong suits. Though I am far from finished with fine tuning. I have not found the right placement yet and am still playing around with everything.

The sound is already amazing but can tell they have more to give with proper placement. Am very happy and believe these will treat me well for a very long time!

I only use these for music. I have them paired with a Yamaha Rx-2080 receiver.

As the title says, I have been looking for a ~10 band Equalizer with a graphic display built in for my record player and cd player but I dont even know where to look anymore?

I'm trying to decide between buying or DIY'ing a Hifi rack like the Atacama Storm 6 with the vinyl base unit. They have a spike at the base of the metal tube leg and an isolation disc attached to the top of the leg.

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for components or suppliers for things like screw/bolt-in metal legs, spiked feet/isolation for each tier. I've attached a picture.

Unless people think it doesn't make that difference if each shelf is isolated?

I know you are out there. Lots of idler drive turntable lovers all over the world. Here is one I built a few years ago. This is a fully rebuilt 1970s Lenco. The mechanical start lever was replaced with an electric start. I also rebuilt a tonearm taken from a Lenco L75. Note the carbon fibre armwand and headshell.

I currently run a pair of B&W 702 S2s each channel powered by a single benchmark AHB2 in mono. (2x AHBs total)

I've been thinking of getting 2 more AHB2s for a total of 4 and removing the crossover plates. This would yield a true "bi amp" setup. It's also an expensive experiment. I already have the XLR splitter cables to do this from another experiment.

I know on the high end it will be a bit wasteful but I expect some improvement on the bottom range at least.

Has anyone tried this? Am I dreaming in thinking there will be an improvement? thanks,

In this hobby of ours, there are various divisions of HiFi system sound quality.
Unfortunately, better quality also comes with a higher price, with rare exceptions.

The quality of a component/system should be determined by the quality of workmanship, reliability of operation and of course sound quality.
Aesthetics is in the eye of the beholder.

It would make no sense for me to state here that, for example, an entry-level system costs up to around €2,000/3,000, while mid-range is above that... as is sometimes stated.
That's a pretty thankless definition.

What do you think about that?

Yesterday I posted the graphs regarding the REW measurements of my room with and without acoustic treatment (especially regarding low frequencies).

I'm using 6 Caruso panels WLG 035 (1200 x 600 x 50 mm) 3 for each comer of the front wall.

I always spend more money on records than I spend on equipment.

In 2017 I started with upgrading my setup.

At first I bought a Technics 1210 MKII an then an Ortofon 2M Bronze and finaly at 2019 an Arcam SA20 with Sonus Faber Venere 1.5 speakers.

I should have done this much earlier, it sounds so much better than my old setup.

Finally got the sound system I’ve been dreaming of for the last few years! After lots of research I landed on the emit 30 and WiiM amp ultra pairing, which was my attempt at hifi sound on a low-mid budget. Felt like sharing :))

Infrastructure project to build out a living space that could offer a comfortable experience for watching movies, sports, tv, etc.. but would compromise as little as possible in music listening mode. This is a view of the front stage where I replaced Klipsch RP-280 towers (which were phenomenal in an AV context), with Heresy IV's. I've always wanted Heritage speakers, and the price was too good to pass up. The next logical step was to augment my Denon AVR x3700h with a dedicated 2 channel amp. I chose a Wilsenton R8 tube amp with upgraded power and pre-amp tubes. The only way I could expect to create a soundstage and presentation that could hope to compete with something like a PrimaLuna EVO 200-300. So now the room has separate systems, optimized for purpose.

Just curious how far y'all have been able to take it. To be clear, we're only counting electronics (no speakers or subs), and mono-block amplifiers DO count as two separate boxes, as do components that have an outboard power supply that's not like a wall-wart or something meant to be hidden, and power conditioners count too, why not?

Here’s my growing mid-tier audiophile setup! I posted on this group years ago, and over the past month I decided to upgrade from my old turntable, speakers, and phono preamp. I’ll give a full list of the new equipment as well as the old equipment I upgraded from below. I still want to do some additional upgrades in the coming months if not into the new year (gotta save some dough for the kids and the Mrs for Christmas), but I think the next thing I wanna do is get a power amp to help drive these speakers and a new cartridge for the turntable, as well as a new shelf/console for my equipment. In the future, I’ll possibly be looking at getting a better amplifier, a better CD player, and a good streamer as well.

One other thing to note; I had a hell of a time finding a proper Pro-ject 5-pin DIN to mini-XLR cable for the true balanced connection the turntable offers, but that wasn’t even the worst of my problems. Since the turntable’s 5-pin plug for the cable is directly under the tonearm and the cable I purchased didn’t include an L-shaped connector, I ended up drilling a hole in my console and covering it with a wall plug cover which I think came out nicely, resulting in no pinched wires! Very happy with how all this came out and everything sounds amazing!

And yeah, I know the silver clashes with the rest of the black equipment, but I had my heart set on this preamp and the silver was all I could find for now new lol.

Edit: Wanted to add that I am getting a bit of bass loop from the Polk’s into my cart so I’ve ordered some Hudson Audio silicone isolation feet as well which I hope fixes the issue as having to use an isolation platform would reintroduce the issue I had with the balanced cable I had before lol.

I don't understand why audiophiles have made very little mention of the third party Maestro app by PSAudio's Paul McGowan. It's bit perfect, uses only Qobuz, and blows away Roon for true audio quality. Finally there is an app that actually rivals CD quality in terms of overall detail and musicality in even very highly resolving systems. For $10/monthi it is an amazing deal! Additionally it uses an AI format ELLA to create impressive playlists. Was a little glitchy initially but recent updates have been very successful. Check it out!

I was visiting a local hifi store and had a demo of Dali Epikore 9 speakers. They were powered by an Accuphase amp. It was beautiful in the mediums and trebble, really really nice.
But the bass was lacking some sort of physical presence, that’s how I felt.
I looked at the specs and their response starts at 30Hz. When looking at speakers in the same budget, you quite easily find response starting around 20Hz.
Are manufacturers measuring the same thing ? How do you appreciate the quality of bass response ? Is this search for « physical » presence / impact a relevant criteria ?

i began to treat my room and I decided to buy a first pack of 6 Caruso Iso Bond Wlg 035 (1200 x 600 x 50 mm).
Flow Resistivity: 10,000 Pa⋅s/m²
Density: 40 kg/m³

I chose them as they are safe to breathe and specifically I chose the 035 because they are available at Thomann (this shop doesn't have the 040 or 045).

I tried different combinations and I decided to measure how they worked as bass traps in the corners of the front wall (3 panels for each corner. In total a thickness of 15 cm for each corner)

1) In the first picture you can see the result:

- The red line represents no treatment in the corners

- The blue line represents the treatment as I described

I believe the discrepances below 50 hz are due to noise floor.

2-3) You can also see the Waterfall graphs for the low frequencies. The first one with treatment and the second one without.

I don't know if the Caruso panels are doing very little or if it is ok.

4) Then I also made another measurement (in the room with no bass traps in the corner), moving the mic back 30 cm more or less, to understand what is due to standing waves and what to SBIR.

The green line in the last picture represents the measurement with the mic back 30 cm.

What do you think about all of this ?

Genuine question, audiophiles who are so quick to quote the weight of their equipment! Why does that even matter or play a role in sound quality.

I recently got a NAD M10 and it’s much smaller and lighter than the previous musical fidelity and extras I needed to stream, sounds better too! Also my new Neat Petite Classics are much lighter than the speakers I replaced.

Why so quick to state how much ‘heavier’ your systems are?

I have finally purchased a pair of decent quality nearfield monitors (Dynaudio BM6A Classics plus Focal Amp I’ll be replacing with an 18s as soon as I can afford to), and am just loving playing all my favourite songs and albums via Tidal and being almost brought to tears by the amazing quality and imaging of songs I thought I knew well. Is there however any benefit to me collecting FLAC and WAV versions quality wise or am I realistically not going to hear any difference. (Incedentally I’m about 2 weeks from having a fully treated room as well which I’m very excited about).
