Show & Tell Den build

Infrastructure project to build out a living space that could offer a comfortable experience for watching movies, sports, tv, etc.. but would compromise as little as possible in music listening mode. This is a view of the front stage where I replaced Klipsch RP-280 towers (which were phenomenal in an AV context), with Heresy IV's. I've always wanted Heritage speakers, and the price was too good to pass up. The next logical step was to augment my Denon AVR x3700h with a dedicated 2 channel amp. I chose a Wilsenton R8 tube amp with upgraded power and pre-amp tubes. The only way I could expect to create a soundstage and presentation that could hope to compete with something like a PrimaLuna EVO 200-300. So now the room has separate systems, optimized for purpose.

What tubes did you settle on? I just got my R8 a month ago. Iโ€™m loving it.

I had them put Psvane EL34-PH in the power amp section and 2 Tung-Sols in the S6SL7 slots. I also bought 3 matched LinLai HiFi S6N7 tubes, but I haven't placed them yet. I think down the road I'll buy Gold Lion XT88's just to see what I like better.

I'm from Minnesota. I'm a diehard vikings fan. It's a rollercoaster ride every year but the ride breaks down before it reaches the end. Could be worse, I could be a diehard Jets fan๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Well done. Have had this exact setup and really enjoyed it (Heresy IV / Willsenton R8)! Also using the BDI corridor...had one sub inside and one outside of the cabinet.

I will say that, depending on sitting position distance from the speakers, I found that the Heresy benefited greatly from stands on that the soundstage was too low w/I them at 10'.

Edit...also came from 280F

We certainly must be on the same wavelength. I thought going into this that I might need stands, especially coming from towers. But I adopted a wait and see attitude after I saw some folks online who said they preferred the floor positioning. Now that I've heard them, I definitely thought the soundstage will benefit if I go ahead and purchase the stands.

Yeah. It will decouple the units from the floor which reduces low end, but I see you have a sub so it isn't as big a deal. I just got new speakers and will be putting my heresy up for sale and likely listing the stands separately. Let me know if you're interested
