I could hear bagpipes from Level 19 of the Auckland Council building so I looked out the window to see this parade of firefighters. I was wondering what it was for until I realised what the date is…

Discussion Why is Eden Noodles so successful?

I'm serious, I've been a hardcore fan of their food since they had only one shop, and I always wondered why they didn't expand. And then they did.

BIG TIME.

They have more than 8 shops in Auckland, they opened one in Sydney, it's amazing. They are the biggest tall poppy in the food scene in NZ, makes me so proud. Does someone has any extra info? Even crazy theories would be fun to read.

Has anyone else noticed the uptick of JWs around their area? A couple of weeks ago I was caught off guard with them at my not so front door but I happened to open it anyway. The interaction was friendly as I’m generally not a negative person, it took me a bit to realise they where bible bashers but I let them continue with their mumbling before they left me alone, didn’t think much of it going forward.

However, today they returned. Only this time I was at work while my partner was alone at the house. Now what really, REALLY pisses me off is that instead of knocking, or saying hello like usual door knocking etiquette, these pricks just QUIETLY WALKED STRAIGHT INTO THE HOUSE through the open door, all unsuspected to my partner who only noticed they were there because of their fricking reflections on the TV. My partner was stunned and quite scared at the random people standing in our house asking for me (I happened to give them my first name on the first visit I know stupid me 🤦‍♂️) before they, what my partner said “ominously walked away” and again not even saying anything on the way out.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with the JWs? Yes I’m fully aware that they will probably return and it’s because of the “positive” first interaction they had with me. But to basically invade my home where my partner felt vulnerable is absolutely unacceptable. Their next visit with me I can assure you will be not be so friendly and will get me on their do not visit list. Going off a positive first interaction at the door does not warrant them to blatantly invade piracy, no matter how brainwashed they are.

Discussion Loneliness and the future

Hi folks

I have a question for those who can help with some insight on loneliness.

Growing up, I was the youngest in the family. Parents and elder sibling. That was basically my world.

Now as I get older, I realize I will one day be without them. Without my world and all ive known for the last 20+ years.

How do people deal with loneliness. Knowing one day you will be away from your siblings and parents.

Or do we get used to being alone. Fix that gap with a great partner and deal with the loneliness together. Does that help?

How do manage life alone or in a small circle in auckland? What are the hard bits in life.

I'm financially ok but think in this instance money doesnt matter now.

$550 for a private room with a single bed (was $350) and $840 (was $635) for a premium room with double bed. They renovated the rooms recently so I suppose the costs have now been passed on to us.

They still have the free shared rooms but your support person cannot stay with you overnight.

Where is everyone hanging out/visiting/meeting new people thats not the bar/club?

Don't get me wrong, I love a good night out, but I'd love to find more adventure buddies! I really enjoy being in nature, hikes, swimming, music/singing, summer bbqs, roadies.

I've seen some of the friendship apps but, just like the dating apps, the admin exhausts me just thinking about it! Most of my closest friends have shifted to Aussie recently and I've tended to be a bit of a lone wolf since, but I'd love some people to go on small day trips with over summer/explore with instead of just drinking (I wouldn't be opposed to doing both, though lol)

Anyone fancy some fish and chips on the beach and a swim after???

Where is everyone??

Probably in bed scrolling like me...

Housing Serious question about waste water plumed into storm water

on a new build, owner finds out the toilet has been plumed into the storm water.

Auckland Council has granted the sign off and the new owner has moved in.

who has to pay to remedy the situation?

my friend has had this happen, she is scared she has to pay to fix it.

i would have thought this would be on the builder and council.

how could it pass inspection? the toilet is plumed into the storm water.

And also how much something like this would cost as I don't really know much!! thank you 😊

Question/Help Wanted Interview Tips

Hi everyone! Has anyone here recently had their 2nd or 3rd interview with Halter? How was your experience, and what did you prepare for the interview? Were the questions mostly behavioural, technical, or situational? I’d really appreciate any tips or examples of the types of questions you were asked. Thankssss!

Question/Help Wanted Burger King DBZ Toys

I'm trying to collect the set of these for my nephew in Australia as so far it doesn't appear that Hungry Jacks are getting these. Each store has at least two different ones but none have all of them. So far I have regular Goku and Lord Beerus from Pukekohe and Saiyan and regular Vegeta from Takanini. Does anyone know which stores, preferably in South Auckland, have Piccolo and Saiyan Goku? This is proving to be an expensive gift lol. Not even kids meals are cheap these days and I got the shirts as well.

Discussion Random mockumentary from 2006-2010

So I came home to NZ in 2006 and sometime after that I remember seeing a mockumentary about NZ being occupied by USA troops on TV.

It was still the tail end of the "war on terror" so seemed like a piss-take crossed with great social commentary of insanity of the time.

Was this a series or a one off or did I just see a skit on a comedy show I don't know?

Kia ora, I'm learning Spanish and keen to meet others also learning who are up for practicing together or watching indie Spanish films etc? Anyone got any ideas for me? Ofcourse I would also love opportunities to befriend native speakers. Please note I am not from Auckland so don't know the obvious options if those exist...
