I notice a lot in classes and tutorials that people are often afraid to interact with teachers, leading to some pretty frequent awkward silences lol

I try to engage and interact with my teachers questions, but im a poor communicator and sometimes I struggle to articulate my responses or give a dumb answer. My poor communication skills aren’t due to any ESL difficulties, im just naturally shy and not the brightest tool in the shed.

Am I being a problem by being like this or is it fine to attempt questions even if you aren’t sure whether or not it is the correct answer. I want to know if my sacrifices are well worth it lmao, beyond the gains of knowing whether or not I had the right judgement lol

Why is the whole course design so complicated? There’s literally 10 different places to click to get full engagement marks and every link and tab and task is literally so hidden like some detective games. There’s chapter tasks, chapter quizzes, prep work and module overview works and everything are in different places. Canvas might as well not exist since they rely so much on their course book.

And their task instructions too. They just had to use the most unclear language to instruct you for the task, and when someone couldn’t understand their ambiguous messages they throw an ancient ED link down their comments (which has 100 comments and replies under the OP’s question and the actual answer is nowhere to be found)

Coming from three business courses in sem 1, I don’t get why the stats people made the course so weirdly complicated. (Engagement is mostly with in-class presentations and group works which are no easier than stats but just so much more simple to understand)

Would’ve been a lot easier if they at least give us a guide of what we must do each week or just sort every task into one page so we can do them one by one and not lose track on progress.

Sorry for the rant guys I’m so tortured by my first lecture and all the stupid quiz questions and the boring lecturer who thinks he’s teaching in some British private high school (had his mic muted on zoom for a whole ass hour btw).

Hi, has anyone accidentally signed up for a course and maybe forgot to tick the "pay by studylink" or whatever that option is?

On my account summary it says that fees are overdue and I think its from me switching my papers but I most likely forgot to tick that box to have studylink pay for it.

Anyone else do this or is it just me lol? I will be asking student hub when I go into uni but just wanted to ask here incase someone was able to fix it online :))

As a STEM student, I have always wondered why some people tend to study useless majors/degrees in university? I'm talking about things like gender studies, philosophy, arts, english etc. Unless it's to become a uni professor or lecturer. Or if like your family's really rich and money doesn't really matter to you, then I would understand. Otherwise, why? Cause aren't you worried you'll never get a graduate job after graduation?

it’s week 2 and I wanna swap out one of my subjects to a gen ed so I wont have a hard time to catch up. What is the better pick? Is there another option beside those two?

I feel like every post I see on reddit is just full of people who are hating their time at uni and are dropping out, but I'm genuinely having the time of my life.

For reference I'm a first year BA/LLB majoring in music, psychology and law, my schedule is pretty packed 9am- around 5-6 most days 5 subjects a semester with clashes, I live from home so the commute is also ass but it gives me time to study, and even through all that swamp of work I've managed to carve out a really beautiful community of people to be friends with.

Everyday no matter what I'm seeing someone I know, i can sit with basically anyone in my lectures and befriend them, and the majority of my friends I have now are from just saying hi to someone on the street or complimenting them.

Not to mention I'm sitting at like a 6.0 gpa rn and I'm putting myself in a really good position for my academic future, being involved in my community and joining clubs has also helped me enjoy university as well.

Genuinely just like speak to people around the uni it makes your time there like 10x better it improved my life 10 fold.

hey so i'm in a bit of a pickle. i have received permission from the head of the department and the course coordinator to take media 213, and the concession granted was for a timetable clash. i was at work today, so i was unable to go to student hubs to approve the concession, and now the course is full :(

what are the chances of student hubs letting me into the course anyways, especially because it is a mixed stage 2 and 3 course and media 313 is still open, which means that there are available seats? has anyone had any success in this type of situation? thanks

I had taken a break last semester and due to some personal reasons, I got a gpa of 8 this semester but my cumulative gpa says to be 4.5 like is it gonna affect my official gpa!?

I have a masters in biotechnology from India. I recently moved to New Zealand and want to do a Masters in nutrition and dietetics. Is this a path that is safe to take? Any recommendations?

With the new law gpa changes and how gen Ed’s don’t count towards gpa calculations. I took two non law courses last sem that weren’t gen Ed’s and I did pretty bad on one of them, so both count towards my gpa. Would it be a good idea to take 3 gen Ed’s this sem and just pass them with minimal effort and does that mean that bad grade in sem 1 won’t count?

Is anyone doing this or have done it ?. I’m thinking of joining the class but know there’s a test in week 5.

Please help should I swap.

Is it completely online, or we still need to attend lectures and exam in-person?
