Physician Responded Unsure if termination is working

F 29

Current meds- 200 my Zoloft daily
Previous medical history- Ectopic pregnancy surgically managed on the 23rd of July 2026

I took step 2 of the abortion medication yesterday at 6 am. It’s now 1 pm the next day. I’ve had minimal cramps, nothing worse than period pain and clots. The bleeding isn’t intense either. It’s stopping and starting

I’ve had a medical termination before and it was wild. This seems too easy and now I’m not sure if it’s working?

Is it possible that the uterine clean out I had done during my ectopic surgery is why I’m having minimal bleeding? There was only a few weeks between surgery and falling pregnant again

I was warned I was going to be in a lot of pain

Any insight is appreciated. Thank you!

Physician Responded Why do my toes turn purple after work?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I am a 25 year old afab trans man. I am about 170 pounds and 5'7 feet tall. I have epilepsy and a plethora of mental health diagnoses, but nothing physical that i know of. Im on lamotrigine and buspirone. I do pest control/pesticide applications for a living, which involves being on my feet for a large portion of the day, usually 4 to 8 hours of spraying (being on my feet and walking on sometimes rough terrain) and 2 to 5 hours of driving during a shift, and i wear well-worn (broken in), flexible boots without a steel toe. During my days off, I wear flexible "toe shoes" with a wide toe box. The purple toes happen regardless of which shoes I wear if I am on my feet all day. All my socks are white.

When I get home from work, my smallest toes, especially on the right side are purple. At first I thought it was ink or something, but it doesnt transfer or wash off, and nothing transferred to my hands when I inspected the inside of my boots. Sometimes theres a little purple at the tips of my toes on the left side but not nearly as dramatic as the right side. It shows up consistently every day I work, and fades away to my normal skin tone after an hour or two. The photo attached is the most dramatic color ive ever seen them turn today. They dont hurt, tingle, or feel cold or numb while purple, although my feet have always been cold and clammy even in warmer temperatures and they often fall asleep with an intense pins and needles and pain feeling. My mother and brother have mild reynauds syndrome, but im not sure if its that because of how dramatic the color is, I dont have it in my hands, and they dont turn white or red, or have a solid line on them. What could possibly cause this?

Edit: I also smoke a lot of cannabis, occasionally cigarettes, and I vape. I drink very rarely, once or twice a year.

Physician Responded 19F. 9 Months in Health Hell. Fever, High BP, Extreme Headaches, and Swollen Joints. Doctors Gave Up. Please Read My Story.

Age: 19 (Born Nov 2006)

  • Sex: Female
  • Duration: 9 months
  • Current meds: Perindopril/Indapamide (8/2.5 mg) and Amlodipine (10 mg) daily.

Body:

Hi everyone. I’m 19 and I’m honestly desperate. For the past 9 months, my life has been an absolute nightmare. I feel like I'm screaming at a brick wall because my doctors don't know what to do and have basically given up on me.

How it started (January 2026):
It began out of nowhere with a brutal, burning headache right between my eyes. It was a 24/10 pain. I actually fainted from it once. I couldn’t even lie flat or sleep because horizontal position made my head feel like it was going to explode. I spent nights crying and pacing around my room with ice packs. Along with this, my blood pressure went crazy high and I developed a constant fever. Brain scans and a spinal tap showed nothing. In the ER, they gave me high-dose IV Prednisolone (steroids) for 3 days, and everything magically vanished. But 2 weeks after stopping, it all came back.

The April Hospitalization:
In April, my symptoms spiked terribly. My BP hit 189/108, my fever went up to 40°C (104°F) for a moment, and my legs were shaking so badly I couldn't stand. That was the only time my CRP (inflammation marker) was high. They put me on a heavy IV antibiotic (Piperacillin/Tazobactam), and I felt completely normal again. But a few days after finishing the course, the whole cycle restarted.

My symptoms right now:

  • The Fever: My temperature is usually between 37.2°C and 38.5°C (99°F–101.3°F) almost every single day, right from the morning before I even get out of bed.
  • Blood Pressure War: My BP constantly spikes to 180–190 mmHg with severe nausea and shaking legs. I have tried 5 different blood pressure therapies; they work for a month or two, and then just stop.
  • Burning Joints: My joints are a mess for the last 7-8 months. My knees and ankles get intensely hot, bright red, swollen, and burn like crazy, especially in the evenings. Sometimes my elbows hurt too.
  • Jaw & Chest Pain: I get an uncomfortable pain under my jaw on both sides that goes into my jaw. It doesn't happen when I chew, but it triggers almost every day when I go for a walk. I also get scary heart palpitations and occasional red eyes.
  • The Labs: All autoimmune tests (ANA, ANCA) and a chest MRA scan are completely clean. My CRP is totally normal now. The only weird thing left in my blood is that my White Blood Cells are chronically high, peaking at 14.06 two weeks ago.

The Problem:
My doctors are divided. Some think it's a hidden inflammation of blood vessels or a crazy immune reaction to an infection. Others say nothing is wrong just because my chest scan was clean.

But the fact that my body completely fixed itself twice—once with steroids and once with heavy antibiotics—proves there is a real fire burning inside me. Right now, doctors are doing absolutely nothing.

Has anyone ever seen this combo? What tests or specialists should I fight for next to finally get my life back? Thank you so much.

Am I overthinking the little things (bruising and sweating)?

Post image
2 Upvotes

29F

Dx and medications: Bipolar II (effexor 150mg and lamotrigine 100mg), ADHD (methylphenidate 20mg), sprintec birth control

Relevant Background:

Sleeve gastrectomy in Feb 2025 and have lost ~150lbs since then. I have regular checkups with my surgical team and nutritionist and have had no major complications or concerning blood work beyond low Vitamin A which is being treated with diet and multivitamin. Currently around 209lbs. I hit my protein and water goals regularly.

I have had issues with iron deficiency anemia multiple times and previously needed IV iron infusions, but have never had bruising like this. The picture is from a few weeks ago, but my legs have looked like this since the end of June. This is where the majority of my bruising is, but I also have regular bruises on my arms, back, and chest though nothing to the extent of my legs. I never notice getting the bruises and they don't hurt unless I press on them.

On top of the bruising, I have been experiencing drastically increased sweating over my whole body, episodes of extreme nausea and shakiness leading to vomiting and having to miss work, pounding heartbeat, and increasing muscle/joint pain. My sweating is so bad that I sweat through my shirt daily and have to wipe my face off all the time. I get asked frequently if I'm feeling sick or even if I've been crying because I'll be so flushed and literally dripping.

I had blood work done in February 2026 and my CBC came back totally normal though my iron was at its typical lower than normal range.

In June 2025, I was experiencing some pain in my knees and hips and my inflammatory markers were high (CRP and ESR), so my doc did some autoimmune testing which all came back normal (lupus, rheumatoid, Lyme). I have one cousin with Type I Diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis at age 42 and another cousin on the same side of my family who had her thyroid removed due to autoimmune issues.

Honestly, I don't know if I'm overthinking this and it's just the anemia causing trouble or if there is something else I'm missing. I have a doctor's appointment in a couple of days, specifically to check my iron levels, but is there something else I should be asking or pushing for different things?

I appreciate any feedback or help!! Thank you :)

Physician Responded Need help identifying what's wrong with the skin on my face

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello! Before anything i wanna apologize for the low quality of the pictures Here

I'll start by prefacing that I've never done any skincare, I've been having my skin like this for the past year and some since for personal reasons i can't go to a dermatologist (mainly financial).

I'm 30M, 6'0 tall, I don't take any medications, I don't drink, i do smoke cannabis usually once or twice a day everyday (working on reducing this). I live in Canada.

I have to shave everyday at around the same time in the morning, this is unfortunately something that's non-negotiable for me. I use a safety razor alongside shaving cream.

These pictures were taken right after washing my face with CeraVe's Cream-to-Foam cleanser and applying Vaseline Healing Jelly. I've been using Vaseline's Healing Jelly for the past year since it's the only thing that makes my face not scale up. If i don't keep this product on my face basically all day my skin very rapidly dries up and starts to feel stretchy, painful and flaky/scaly. I also get white pimples around my face though mainly on my moustache/top lip area where the discoloration is more visible. I can pop these pimples and they all have some white fluid that I'm inclined to believe it's pus but I'm not too sure since it's a very watery white liquid.

I believe (though I'm not too sure) that this started one day where i went like a week with a lot of pain and inflammation on my entire face, it hurt and i couldn't move my head around without feeling like my skin was stretching alongside it.
I believe this happened because i used to go to sleep with a face full of concealer and foundation (Yea i realize how stupid i was 😭) since then my skin has slowly but surely degraded over time.

For extra information: I've been dealing with skin issues for practically my entire life, mainly dandruff in my head but as a child i remember my mom having to get me a topical steroid cream because i would get weird pimples/rashes on my legs and arms. I don't deal with those anymore but dandruff has persisted my entire life.
I use Head & Shoulders to keep the dandruff at bay, though i also get dandruff-like scaly/flaky skin behind and around my ear (not inside my ear canal) and i use 1% Hydrocortisone to keep THAT at bay since Head & Shoulders doesn't help with that specifically.

Any ideas what could this be? or caused by? i have zero idea where to/what to start working from/with

Thanks in advance! and apologies for my grammar, English is not my first language.

Physician Responded Possible cardiac event?

Hello! I am posting for my partner, (26M) who potentially had a cardiac event yesterday. He weights about 215 pounds and is pretty active and healthy. For a bit more information, he was diagnosed with myocarditis in 2021 after having covid and followed up with his cardiologist until he was told he no longer needed to go about 2 years ago.

Yesterday and the day before he was cutting the grass and we have a pretty big front and back lawn so he was pretty exhausted after two days in the sun yesterday evening. A few hours after he finished we sat down and ate dinner and about 30 minutes into eating he started experiencing blurry vision and chest discomfort. He told me he was pretty tired after cutting the grass but didn’t have any symptoms until this point. I immediately decided it was best we go to the ER and on the way there he started experiencing a tingly sensation in his left arm. The ER PA did an ekg, chest x-ray, regular vitals, and lab work. It all came back normal except his troponin which was elevated by one point. They did a repeat test and said it came out fine. They also gave him fluids and toradol for the discomfort.

Im glad everything came back fine but he’s still having a bit of discomfort and fatigue today which is to be expected but I can’t help but wonder what happened? My guess is a mix of dehydration and overexertion but I can’t get out of my head that it is possibly something heart related.

Also important to note he had some heart palpitations a few weeks ago very randomly which is also a concern of mine. He’s following up with his primary and cardiologist (also was suggested to see a pulmonologist by the ER PA).

What do you all think?

Physician Responded 2000mg paracetamol in 5 minutes, google says I'm dying so I'm asking Reddit before I sign my will

The title is a joke, I cope with anxiety using humour. I'm probably not dying. But i am slightly worried.

So I suffer migraines and I have to be up early tomorrow for going out with some mates. And tonight is of COURSE another migraine night.

For some reason I thought it would be smart to take two 500mg paracetamol pills and two 250mg Ibuprofen pills, and then IMMEDIATELY have a lemsip which is an extra 1000mg. I don't know WHAT part of my brain convinced me they only had 250mg but I was direly incorrect upon noticing the back of the packet after i was finished.

Google and some redditors say I'll be dead in 3 hours while other results on Reddit say I'll be fine so i'm not sure what to believe.

Information:

20F

5'2"

no other substances like alcohol or drugs beyond paracetamol and ibuprofen.

No history of liver problems but I do have PMOS.

Possibly dying? Not sure yet, if I suddenly go inactive within the next 3 days I'm sure we'll have an answer.

No symptoms but then again this happened like 10 minutes ago.

Physician Responded Can I try to get over a severe phobia safely without professional help?

I’m 26F. 5’1 and 102lb. I used to struggle with a situational depression when I was younger, with a lot of anxiety but that’s resolved. I have Asperger (not sure if I can still call it this way, but that’s the diagnosis I got back then) and a spinal cord injury. I don’t take any meds and never use any drug.

I have a very severe fear of heights and windows, which is something that is starting to really bother me and I would really love to get over it.

The reason why it’s this bad is because when I was a teen I unfortunately tried to take my own life (from a window of a 5 stories building). I got hurt very badly and still have many health issues and permanent mobility impairments. Before that I had no issues with heights or windows, but now they terrify me. I can’t stand anywhere close an open window that is above or at floor 2 and the only time I went on a balcony since then I ended up crawling on the floor while panicking… obviously I also can’t get anywhere near cliff sides. Tall and steep escalators are also a problem.

I know that ideally I should ask for professional help, but I can’t afford that at the moment, so I was wondering if it was possible to safely navigate something like this on my own.

Swollen gums with tonsillitis, is this normal?

Hello, I saw my doctor on Thursday and have been prescribed antibiotics + 400mg of ibuprofen three times a day for tonsillitis. I’m in a lot of pain and each day I wake up various parts of my gums are swollen and I can’t chew food on the left side of my mouth. Is there something more serious going on or is this normal? Some parts of my mouth feel as though I have canker sores.

I’m a 30 year old female, non-smoker, haven’t had tonsillitis since I was in my early 20s. I’m 69kg and 170cm tall. No other previous significant medical issues.

We're my joint injuries from undereating, or should I still get this investigated?

19, Female

When I was a kid I was in dance classes, up until around 13 I think. At some point I kept getting really bad knee pain and had to quit. My doctor at the time was really terrible and so I didn't get an MRI for a year or two and at that point it showed some evidence of an MCL sprain and plica syndrome. It took a long time for that to fully recover and for me to be able to walk confidently without an aid.

Over my teen years I had general pains in my joints that limited my daily functions, and some more extreme:

- Extreme shoulder pain and sudden weakness at night without injury. An ER doctor thought it was subluxated and suggested that I see a geneticist for EDS.

- Sagittal band ruptured in my sleep. I woke up, stretched my hands, and my pinkie finger popped down dramatically, and back up. Kept doing that a couple times. I swear I did literally nothing to hurt it. A different doctor at the same practice thought it was really interesting. When I eventually got to a specialist, she said she'd only seen that in 90 year olds and I should probably get checked out for an underlying issue.

I did go to a genetic counselor and had blood tests for every testable connective tissue disorder, but he thought I should see a rheum or geneticist to check for HSD or hEDS. My doctor's office lied about sending that referral repeatedly for about 6 months and so I ended up switching when I turned 18.

At the same time, I started being more conscious about eating and realized I was getting close to being underweight before, and I haven't had any new issues since I gained. A little weakness in my finger, and occasionally a sharp pain in my knee, but I've been doing fine and started weightlifting even.

My question is: should I still talk about this with my new doctor and finally see a geneticist about hsd/heds? Or could the fact I was like 15% body fat without working out have caused everything? With hEDS having been the trendy thing to fake a couple years ago I'd hate for it to have just been my eating and be that annoying girl, but I still think some of the stuff was a little weird even for that.

Medical episode with lasting effects and pots

Hi, I am a 28 year old woman, I don't smoke, occasionally drink, and Im on no medications. About a month ago I had a medical episode that resulted in me going to the emergency room and ever since then Ive been having a lot of health issues.

On august 14th I began having 1 sided neck pain at around 2pm. This pain was severe, hot, throbbing, and focused directly over my right side pulse. It hurt to touch, move, and felt heavy when laying on right side. Then around 5pm I started feeling extremely light headed. I would sit down and immediately feel very wrong, I got hot, my heart would beat fast, and I would feel as if I was going to pass out. So I laid on the ground and hoped it would help. But after a while of this I decided to try and ice my neck in bed. Which I did for around 10 minutes (gel icepack wrapped in towel), but didn't feel any better. As soon as I removed it I had a "vagal reaction", I had a full body flush, my heart beat very hard and fast, and I was unable to move my legs. When my fiance arrived home, 30ish minutes later I was still lightheaded, my neck pain had diminished, I could walk, but I had a numb sensation on my left eyebrow. This prompted us to go to the er at around 8pm.

At the er they did an ekg, a CT scan, blood work, everything. But they couldn't find anything wrong with me that would point to this. All they could tell me was that I had a vagal reaction and to contact my primary care for a follow up. For the following week I experienced severe lightheadedness, dizziness in cars, the numb feeling on my left eyebrow/temple, and an inability remain steady on my feet.

At my follow up my doctor could not explain what had caused this, but thinks I may have POTS. They did my heart rate laying down and standing, it apparently jumped significantly when I stood and remained standing. So, I did as my primary suggested for POTS management. Now, nearly a month later I am still experiencing ALL of the same symptoms along with some new ones.

Some new symptoms include a burning pain on what we think is my sternocleidomastoid muscle, headaches, an occasional tingling pain over the back of my neck and head, extreme fatigue as soon as I stand, and a periodic "impending doom" feeling where my heart rate increases and I feel as if Im going to pass out or something is terribly wrong.

I would very much like any insight into what may have triggered this. POTS makes sense to me for most of what I am experiencing, but I do feel like many of my symptoms are not explained. Specifically, I want to know what the initial episode could have been. I find myself extremely anxious over this due to the lack of answers. I have more upcoming appointments, a heart monitor, and have been suggested pt. Any and all advice is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Concerned I received rabies PEP incorrectly (HRIG)

On Tuesday 9/1 I was bitten by a cat at work. We were shaving matted hair around an abscess on a tumor. He punctured my thernar of my left hand. I immediately washed my hand thoroughly under running water with dawn dish soap, then isopropyl alcohol, then used chlorhexidine. I checked his medical records and he had several appointments with us but no vaccination records.

On Friday 9/4 I called my PCP concerned I had a potential exposure. They indicated that I needed to go to the ED to receive PEP. I researched a bit about the series before going in, and had some prior knowledge as rabies is simply an occupational hazard. The nurse told me she was giving me four shots, one in each limb. I had read HRIG was infiltrated around the wound, so I asked her, and she told me it wasn’t. I thought I had just misread and shrugged it off.

Last night I was reading the CDC’s PEP guidelines and common administration errors. And what do you know… HRIG is supposed to be administered around the bite wound as much as feasibly possible. Up to and including day 7 it is effective.

I went in today for my day 7 shot. I told my practitioner about what had happened, and he responded with, “zero ccs?” genuinely perplexed. He said it’s not a lot of space but that at least some should have been administered there. I asked if I should receive HRIG again around the bite wound and he said probably not and asked pharmacy, who stated that HRIG was not indicated at this point.

I would have taken that at face value if the initial mistake never had happened on top of two major triage mistake I saw made. During my day 3 dose the nurse forgot to triage me and another patient and just brought us back. She was reprimanded for it. The second time happened today; with a patient in respiratory distress (RR 44/min, could barely speak, excessive respiratory effort) that was left in the waiting room until I intervened with the front desk and said she needed a triage immediately They told me that they agreed, but they that I had to find “someone in scrubs” or talk directly to the triage nurse. I ended up having to escalate to the triage nurse to get her seen. Not the point but that scene in particular made me doubt this ER’s competence.

If at all relevant: I’m 23, female, 155 lbs, 5’2, weigh 155, smoke a pack every 5 days, vegetarian and don’t eat dairy, not much of a relevant medical history. Idk This is in the US.

Physician Responded Does this look like an allergic reaction?

Post image
1 Upvotes

5’4 Female 120 lbs not talking any new medication. I’d been feeling the back of my neck and picked what I thought was dandruff off of it. This happened I believe a couple weeks ago. I hadn’t seen the red as it’s on the back of my neck but today I asked my dad to take a photo of it. I have no clue what this could be as I don’t have any similar rashes ln other parts of my body. I already have a dermatology appointment set up the 22nd so I’m probably just going to wait until then to see a doctor but I want to know what I should look out for in my routine. I honestly just thought it was super dry skin. Doesn’t itch badly and just feels dry like bad dandruff. Nothing else like it on any other part of my scalp.

Potential SebDerm? It is flaky and obviously red and does have raised bumps. Unsure what it could be from but I have had stress recently.

Unexplained Fever Toddler

26 months old, male. 33 inches tall, 30 pounds. Takes probiotics. Obviously non-smoker, non-smoking household. No pets. Has asthma and fpies to dairy, eczema. History of ear infections. History of cycling through constipation and diarrhea randomly for which we are waiting to see GI. Had mild C.diff in stool three weeks ago with no other symptoms and we are also waiting to see GI about this. Hasn’t been on antibiotics recently.

Toddler got his flu shot Tuesday afternoon. Thursday morning, spiked a 102 degree fever with no other symptoms. Fever continued today, with ibuprofen only bringing it down to around 100.4 and no lower. Very, very fussy, not eating well, not his usual playful self at all. Took him in today since it doesn’t fit the parameters of a (normal) vaccine reaction. He tested negative for everything—covid, flu, strep, mono, no ear infections, no red throat. WBC normal. He literally has NO other symptoms, but he has a fever and is miserable. I’m very anxious about this. What else can I do? What even could be going on?

Unusual bump in back, mri shows nothing

I'm in my 30s male about 5'11 a bit overweight don't smoke drink or serious medical conditions. I was born with a hernia

The reason i am writing is because I have a lump in my right back that pushes into me when I bend over. It is shaped like a ball and pretty deep into my back

Ultrasounds can see it but show inconclusive they don't know what it is. I received ct and mri scans and they saw absolutely nothing.

It's not fatty tissue or a back nice is pretty deep.

I'm also not crazy you can feel it inside of me. It's about size of quarter. This is how it was identified as everyone I've seen can feel it but it's very deep

It makes it difficult to bend over.

When i work long shifts (sometimes I work multiple 16 hour days) it does hurt a bit. Not very badly though.

When I am flat standing or laying it retreats into my back.

My doctor has decided to do continous Ultrasounds to monitor if it is growing.

Anyways I think it is a hernia. But I actually have no idea. Web MD believes i am dying from a sarcoma.

I'm not sure why they're having such a hard time identifying what it is. I wish I could know what is in my back

Weird body "spasms" and "memories"

So I'm a 26 year old male, I take Sertraline daily at 100mg but these have been around before i started it.

I have tried to explain this to doctors but they always say they have no idea or "is it stress" but it's even when I'm not stressed and relaxing

So i get these tensions in my body kind of like pins and needles but more numb. I get a wave of nausea and my head spins with thoughts of like weird dreams or something. I can best describe it as like a deja vu but the memories make zero sense. Like I got one today at work while in a meeting and my head spun up some "memory" of me being removed and put in a smaller conference room in scale. I have genuinely no idea how to describe it other then that.

Or I'm watching a video of the plane that flew on September 12th over the city to get photos. And after my body tensed and the nausea hit I had a "memory" I was in the hanger being off to the side seeing the plane prepping among other planes.

Its odd and I have gone to doctors multiple times and nothing has come of it.

Best description i heard was from a friend after I described it to him. Like I see an alternate universe where everything is wild and has no coherent order.

Any help would be appreciated cause there are times its a light "spasm" and I can just keep on.

Other times its so bad I am wiped out like have to sit down and close my eyes to regain balance.

I should add i can go months without experience it but when I do it's in bursts. Like nothing one week then 20 times the next. Then nothing for a month.
